256 meg --- video ram

He won't need any pointers -- I'm an IT guy. I've taken care it already and it runs fine. Just a little slow when it comes to the dialog loading screens.

Yeah dialogue screens are slow for me as well. Though after I started raising the priority in my taskmanager, they improved a little

And if you know anything I don't know, please post it in my guide, I will constantly be trying to figure out how to make this game run better until I get a better computer myself.

ok time to explain this.

in computer terms minimum requirments are enough for the game to load, it does not in anyway say it will run fine on minimum but just run barely.

if you then look next to minimum it does clearly say RECOMENDED.

now recomended will let the game run at medium detail if u tweek the game and is playable.

also it is 2012 why are you still using a 4 year old computer to play todays games.

alot of the problems ppl have with this game is they use pfft computers with low specs. hell i bet OP onky has like 2 gb ram trying to run vista or win 7 with a dual core and a £20 graphics card lol.

so sadly untill the stupid players who whine about the game not running on minimum relize there computer is total crap there is not much we can do.

so please cry more about your pfft pc.

my specs if u wonder

i7 2700k quad @3.8ghz stock 2nd gen hyper threaded
16gb corsair vengence @1600
top end gigabye moter board
gtx 470 high end on par with gtx 570 performance wise
1TB hdd with very high access and search speed at 15k rpm
antenc 300 cooling case with high speed air cooling
coolermaster cpu heatsink designed for overclocking

game runs very nice for me.

all i did was turn shadows of (poorly optimized atm) run AA via nvidea manager and in nvidea settings turnd of AA transparency which caused alot of issued with swtor.

everything else is on high.

rant over

Now lets watch them fly............

Its your fault your computers not good enough
You are an idiot
You can't play anyway
My dads bigger than yours

lol

Good advice from CJ whose obviously having quite a few problems. This game is not made for XP and if you call and ask for technical advice they only know of Windows 7 and can't help otherwise, and thats their techies. They won't put on the box "ONLY FOR WIN 7" cos they wouldn't get as much MONEY.
Actually, from the Minimum system specs: "Windows Vista and Windows 7" - The info is right there if you know where to look - i.e. on the box that you're about to buy (do people still actually buy PC games in boxes? How quaint.)

Wndows XP is a 10 year old, discontinued OS that's no longer even supported by Microsoft unless you pay for ongoing support separately. It's ludicrous that anyone developing a game in the last 3 years would bother to support it in any way. If it works, well it's just plain luck.

So why do you keep moaning then? I suggest you sell your 3 ancient computers, get some more money and buy something built in the last 5 years as an upgrade :-)

No, it's "the minimum" at which the game will actually run. It's not "recommended" to run it on a system that slow, and running it on something even slower is just ridiculous. If you can't afford a couple of hundred quid for a basic PC to run this game then you probably don't have enough to pay the monthly sub. Go get a job.

I think you're doing quite enough of that on your own. You're either deliberately trolling, or just plain stupid. Hard to tell which.

My system (just to dick swing ;-) ):

Dual GTX580 graphic cards in SLI
Dual 27" 2560x1440 monitors
24GB DDR3 2100 RAM in tripple-channel mode
320GB SSD RAID (3, 540GB/s OCZ drives in RAID0 for maximum speed) for OS and games, + 9.5TB RAID data storage on network server
CL Titanium HD soundcard with optical out to 1000 watt 7.1 surround system
Q8300 Core 2 Quad @ 3.8ghz water cooled
Sabretooth motherboard
KillerNIC gaming network accelerator
850watt OCZ PSU
UPS that can run the machine and monitors for 15 minutes during a power outage
G19 keyboard, Razor Imperator mouse

Loading times, practically non-existant. No crashes. Game never slows down, and it sounds awesome with the hardware accelerated sound positioning, mixing and effects. Have used this system to run 6 copies of WoW at the same time when I used to multi-box across 3 monitors so SWTOR is hardly taxing it ;-)

The devs said they have a team that are working to make the game more playable for low-end PCs.

They have then that is brilliant news my friend.

Thankyou all so very much for your well thought out and constructive responses to this matter.

Any aid offered to those not as well off as ourselves is something well achieved and to be rewarded.

I for one will, in the meantime, need to stick to only playing the game in my study and dining room until the one in the kitchen can be just that little bit more playable

If there is one thing I noticed, the game has high hardware requirements but looks and performs bad on no matter what system, especially in Warzones.

If someone has the "minimum requirements" to run the game then can you make it possible for them to have a very PLAYABLE version of the game. The graphics are still completely amazing but its got so much lag no matter what they do that even if you can play it your in line for a multitude of migranes due too all the figures leaping around all over the place.

You need to be able to dum down the graphics to such an extent that it becomes very playable then work your way up.

Is this something you guys can actually consider?

with thanks for all who simply can't afford a new computer every 3 years

Ta

playability over graphics, every day.
Minimum requirement & recommended requirement. This speaks for itself. Anyone playing any game with the bare minimum requirements will always suffer in terms of playability.

In beta they had a draw distance control that REALLY helped me play on my laptop, since release there were apparently some 'issues' with it and it was removed for the time being. However I was told they have plans to re-implement better low graphic controls like that. Just have to be patient!
