In my gaming experience, I've always played with a large number of girls. Ofc the ratio wasn't 1:1, but more like 3:1. Granted, those guilds have usually had age limitations, so that severely cut down the "omg you female, want a boyfriend?" comments which I'm sure must occur, even though can't remember any of my female relations ever mentioning those issues.

But I do get lots more buffs thrown at me, running around as my female Inq rather than my burly Bounty Hunter

Mhh, I think that with the buffs might be coincidence. All I'm looking at when I'm spreading the love is what buffs the character already has.
In general I go by characters for the addressing part or I avoid the he and she by saying the name. With most of the fantasy names you can't tell anyways

Attention or no attention ... heck, I'll try it. "LF1M esseles social run - I'm a guy! Not sure about the other two!"

Now here's a question for the married girls - if any of you is together with a guy that is not into gaming - do you get heck for playing too long? Things like "Do you have to play again?!" or "You are not spending enough time with me!"

Personally I'm beyond that stage already, but there have been times of tension. I imagine it's harder for a guy to "make up" for it

Not married to him yet, but yeah. I actually met my boyfriend on WoW. xD Go figure. It's been two years though and neither of us were looking when we met, so it just kind of fell into place. :]

Anyway, on to your question. My boyfriend stopped gaming pretty much entirely. He hates that I play games I think. I can't even talk to him about games anymore, he gets quiet and won't say anything. :< I've never gotten the "You play too much!" speech, but I have gotten the, "That's such a waste of money, I don't get why you still play" speech.

Did WoW do that to him? Made him hate videogames altogether?

If so, I'm damn glad I didn't play past Beta!!

Hey I played WoW until Cataclysm, I still play video games - so I doubt it has anything to do with that... Unless something terrible happened after I left.
My name is not Bob.

xD No, one day he just decided to quit. He'd spent a lot of time playing, but our guild wasn't doing anything. Once he quit, I did some guild hopping before making my own with a friend. In this space of time, my boyfriend discovered life outside the walls of his room. xD His parents are pretty damn happy that he gets out more, though still pretty pissed that I'm his girlfriend.

He plays console games with friends now mostly, or just single player games. He loves Skyrim lol. He just avoids MMOs. Says they suck you in and take up too much time.

Well they can consume you, but like everything it is best taken in moderation. I like cola, but I do not drink 10 litres a day.

He has mastered the dark secret art of silence, that's impressive! I'm still learning, doesn't do me too good, my wife usually wins those rounds. Thank god I don't get the money speech. Then again we're both not overspending on things.

Well, seems like most don't have a problem with that really.

Not really sure why you would go to consoles ... but I guess it counts as gaming

Yeah, I'm the same way. He's apparently missing that inhibitor that says, "Hey now, you've played too much today. Let's go have a drink with some friends! OR GET LAID!" So he had to quit to enjoy some of the finer things in life.

Is getting laid one of the finer things in life?

He's quiet by nature and oh boy does it spark some heated fights. I'll bring up something I feel is important and he won't know what to say, so he stays quiet (instead of saying, "I don't know what to say, I'm sorry.") which makes me feel like I'm talking to a wall. Eventually I explode in his face and then he gets angry and then we say mean things and nearly break up and once we hit that point we both simmer down and step back and go, "Wait, what's actually going on here?" And suddenly everything becomes clear and we can focus on making things better. Our ways of communication are strange.

He once criticized me for spending on WoW. He then said that he was buying a bunch of beer for a party even though it was really expensive and he didn't really want to do it. And then I sat on $100 for months and months and made it last as long as possible while his bank account dwindled to $3.

When we do get married, I'm in charge of the money.
