It would be rather screwy in PvP settings to make it so that certain classes negate/alleviate falling damage. It is just too easy to abuse in a PvP environment where certain classes would have the ability to dominate the other classes via knocking them off a cliff and following up with a negligible jump down, or they might use it as a cheap escape route.

It would cause more problems than it would solve.

Well, an activated, out-of-combat cast for absorbing fall damage would be pretty neat, as long as it isn't usable in Warzones.

Well I honestly didn't think they would really add this at such a late stage. It just struck me as odd seeing Jedi/Sith taking falling damage from some heights that I know they can jump. It would be nice in my opinion if they added it, but I understand if they don't.

As for PvP, I think it would actually make things more interesting. People would have to stop and think before using falling damage attacks against some players. It would force them to switch tactics.

Fine, If Jedi and Sith don't take falling damage, Bounty Hunters can fly using their jetpacks. And Imperial Agents get to shoot the Death Star.

Obviously I kid, but if you start unbalancing game mechanics for one lore-related issue, expect a domino effect.

I agree that Force users should have severely reduced fall damage and largely increase no-damage falling height. And Bounty Hunters should be able to use their Jet Packs to soften a fall in a similar fashion. The question is, what would Agents, Troopers and Smugglers get in return?

well for agents/smugglers its easy fix:

make orbital strike/flyby attack really bring down an orbital strike 1hitting everything within a huge aoe^^

obviously i jest.

but really sith/jedi already have similar abilities to reducing falling damage.

as the OP said, in the vid the jedi shielded himself and the smuggler:
jedi sage/sith sorc already has a shield with a low CD

jedi knight/sith mara already have force jumps (on target though for balance) that they can use to jump through height levels

etc

I agree. Jedi/Sith should not take damage from falling. For balancing make it a buff that is disabled in PvP warsones. Open world PvP on PvP servers arn't realy balanced anyways, and who cares if PvE is balanced 100% as long as it's fun for all clases.

You normally wouldn't take fall damage. However, your sense of entitlement is so huge that it generates it's own gravitational field. So you are falling twice as fast as everyone else. That, or your big head makes you top heavy, so you always land awkwardly.
