Ok, This is my first thread post. Mostly I have very much enjoyed the game so far. I think it is generally balanced and entertaining. Fun stories exc.

 

I always played on Pvp servers when I played WOW so naturally I played on a PVP server on SWTOR "The Swiftsure"...

 

Everything has been just peachy until. I got to a place today where some 50's where just camping a lvl 30 area. I sat for seriously hours just waiting for therm to leave. Myself and several other players just sat for litterally hours waiting for the 50's to leave but all they did was camp everyone who tried to escape and we could do absolutly NOTHING about it. Seriously developers? How is this supposed to be fun. How is this supposed to be fair that 30's can just get camped and ***** by 50's. We had no shot, could not progress in the game and could just SIT there in a starting area. This was NOT fun nor funny; and was enough for me to just about give the game up after a month.

 

There needs to be some for of honor system or safegaurd against this. Sorry but, biggest flaw in the game by a million miles.

 

Anyone else in the world think this is fair? Seriously, the most frustrating experience I have ever had playing a MMORG....

Call for help or log out and do something else. Ganking happens I cannot see a PvP server that this wouldn't happen.

Roll a PvE server if you don't want to risk the chance levle 50s are camping a lower level area. That happened on WoW PvP servers and it is bound to happen on PvP realms here...

You rolled on a PVP server. It's never fun getting camped but seriously, this game gives you so many ways out. You can fast travel, you can fleet pass, you can even take a wz queue and wait in the start area to get kicked out to the fleet.

That is why there needs to be a debuff so people can't constntly do that.

And I was on Nar Shadda on the bonus area, going back for the second time as a Jedi Sent. And I and several other asked in General if anyone was around to help with no responce. It was just rediculous it seams, maybe it's just a human nature thing.

 

Who finds that fun? I mean seriously.... Pick on someone your own size.... lol

I wasn't aware of that, only tiem i ever did that was to escape the base-**** on Ilum in 1.1, after like 12 hours.

And I didn't want to "Get out"... I wanted to get on with my game. It's a pretty linear story most the time so I had things to do. Not leave. Just wanted to KEEP going and damn 50's in the way of my lowly 30 *****....

I find it fun.

 

I flag (like it matters on a PvP server, but I digress) at level 1 on all my characters. Trying to figure out ways to evade a higher level is a BLAST. Also the game mechanics give you extra time in rez stealth so you can evade, flee, pee your pants, or crouch into the fetal position behind a rock on Tatooine.

 

Either way... I LOVE the thrill of being camped by larger levels; it teaches you a lot about how their class works and when you do manage to get away, its like my own personal victory. Perhaps I am just a masochistic. Here are some of my characters on Jung Ma server... I invite you to do so (if you can)!

You honestly never came across a single griefer or camper in WoW PvP?

 

I find that harder to believe than someone actually being camped in a game where you can respawn stealthed or at a med center nearby.

 

With all that said, if they were hanging out there literally for hours, I would have gone to do something else instead. You don't seem to understand that the longer you stay there, the longer your campers will stay there.

Oh, I def got camped exc.... But Wow wasn't so linear so there was other stuff to do a lot more it seamed. And as I said the honor system helped a lot with that.

 

And it wasn't just being camped it was that this guy sat in the way for like hours until I finally logged off in frustration...

 

With the story so linear all else you can do is kill time till you have to go back.... And the guy was there for HOURS.... sigh

If you've always played on pvp servers you'd know how to deal with this. You should consider yourself lucky that you've even seen a player of the opposing faction in this stupid game.

do you have a guild? ask a 50 in your guild to spare a few moments to escort you to where you need to be. what else is there to do at 50, anyway?

 

if you dont have a guild, message someone or everyone at the fleet or on planet. im sure someone will find the time to go whoop that guy thats camping ur base. i know i would.

Camping is an important part of MMO culture. In fact it is VITAL to the people engaging in that behavior.

 

Consider:

 

These are people who have probably been picked on their entire life. They have never won a fight, kissed a girl, scored the winning TD, or ever even received a compliment from anyone other than a teacher or parent.

 

Furthermore, they have probably never contributed meaningfully to a PVP match, or presumably they would queue up to fight 8 people, rather than sitting for an hour to fight 1 person.

 

This is it for them, this is as good as it gets, the illusion of superiority that comes from defeating someone of higher skill, limited by their character's level. (I am comfortable assuming that campers are horrible at PVP, or again, why not queue up with the 50's?)

 

Stomping your level 30 toon, and laughing about it to themselves? This is their Superbowl...

 

How dare you attempt to take away what might be the only few hours of validation any of them feel in their life?!?

 

Shame on you.

 

All right, I would keep typing but I think I'll roll over to the JH and beat up some 12yo kids. When they cry I will be all like "This is a PVP country NOOB!, you shoulda rolled somewhere else! Like France!"

Join a guild call for help, watch your guild roll over the ganker, continue with your mission.

 

What my guild does, I have helped and received help when being camped.

 

9 times out of 10 I can get past a 50 anyway

Reporting players does wonders. You should try it sometime.

My favorite griefer moment happened here on these servers lol, a griefer posted his video griefing lowbies on tatooine, but he left in a scene of him getting beat by two level 40 somethings. Seriously, you are the worst player ever if your a 50 and you get beat in the open world by two 40's lol

couple of imps were doing that on our server, they stopped doing it when a couple of us lvl 50s repubs turned up and dealt with them.

You rolled on a PvP server and are encountering random, open world PvP. Too bad this problem is ruining a perfectly good PvP server.

 

I'm having basically the opposite problem. I am on a PvE server and every time I'm in the open world, I never ever get any PvP action. I mean, what gives BW? No open world PvP on a PvE server? And random open-world PvP on a PvP server?

 

Redonkulous.

 

I guess I'm just going to have to roll on a RP server and RP that I don't actually like to RP. (its just an act, you see. I actually do like to RP)

couple of imps were doing that on our server, they stopped doing it when a couple of us lvl 50s repubs turned up and dealt with them.

 

You know what would be SWEET, real bounty boards. Throw some griefers names up there, and have people just hunting them from planet to planet. Make it an actual quest, that pays off as much as the poster designates (people could do it over and over, the poster would pay/set the bounty, but the actual reward would come from BW just like any other quest) imagine 5 lvl 30's pooling up a 1 million bounty.

 

And when the old campers complained about being camped, you just say "hey, this is a PVP server bro..."

Most of the time its not so much about "fun", they are usually hopeing that if they stir up enough players that they will call for help or that word will reach other level 50 pvpers that they are there so that a bigger fight can grow out of it. The low level characters are just sort of used as the kindeling to try to start a pvp fire.

Open world PVP is not going to be fair enough for the masses, it's pure ruthless gang violence. You're somewhat (un)lucky that BW has tried their darnedest for the empire and republic players to never meet in open world. So since I rolled on a pvp server for open world pvp and didn't get it ... when I see a red name you're dead regardless of your level or interest in my enjoyment.
