Wrong forum, this is for general discussions about the Star Wars franchise. If by "credit" you mean towards getting the companion, you only earn the companion after you complete the heroic version of the star fortress. Or at least you do if you want the companions from each planet and the title/achievements associated with clearing the Star Fortresses. It isn't necessary to progress the story in KOTFE and KOTET.
