Edit: and you said 200 cruisers those are larger then everything I just listed which both sides still had more then they had cruisers also I think you mean size increase from NR to GA since GA came after the NR. If they are able to wipe out 200 cruisers with ease then they had to have at least Double that so it would be 400 in the fleet at the dead least but I honestly think that's really lowballing it and that the NR had at least 800-1000 ships.

Edit 2: this is still MASSIVELY smaller then the imperial navy which at its height fielded MILLIONS of capital ships.

Hardly, there were only 25,000 Star Destroyers collectively, so where you got millions I'm not sure.

At its peak, it fielded millions of warships, logistics vessels and fighters, maintaining Imperial control throughout the galaxy.

I guess the and fighters would probably lower that down quite a bit but you did say Star Destroyers and I said capital ships. So you have not taken into account, cruisers, frigates, or corvettes which are still capital ships and would largely outnumber the star destroyers as they are easier to build and cheaper so you can more then double that for number of Capital ships.

The Star Destroyer was the smallest type of capital ship in the empire.

I beg to differ sir. Even the C90's corvettes were technically used by the Empire it was just the rebels stole most of them.

It was primarily used in an Escort role, it was very very rarely used as a capital ship, Star Destroyers were the capital ships of the Empire, the Imperial-I and Imperial-II above all else.

it was still a capital ship. star destroyers were the primary WAR SHIP. When I say Capital ship I don't mean used primarily as war only I mean anything that was a capital ship. Obviously I was counting these for the GA navy as well and they didn't use them in much beyond an escort manner either.

I never stated warships, I stated capital ships and the Nebulons were primarily escorts, they were not capital ships, they could act as such, but were not capital vessels, they were more than anything Frigates, a capital ship is a flagship of a group of vessels, the Star Destroyer was the main acting vessel.

Simply put an Escort Frigate is not a capital ship, only an escort vessel that can when needed act as a capital ship, it is as simple as that.

Just because it could doesn't mean it is.

Frigates are a smaller classification of Capital ships... and escort frigate is a capital ship

how it was used is irrelevant.

"Capital ship was a general term that referred to any armed military starship that had a length greater than one hundred meters."

So when I say the Imperial navy likely had 50k Capital ships you now know what I mean. When I say the Galactic Alliance fleet had 200 capital ships per fleet again you now know what I mean. I would not say they had more then 40 cruisers/destroyers per fleet which by your definition would be their "capital ships".

I am not referring to what you mean or what a general naval term means, the Imperial Navy of the Galactic Empire used Star Destroyers, primarily the Imperial-I and Imperial-II, of which there were around 25,000 by ROTJ as their capital ships.

That is all I am stating, nothing more.

I would think they would have had more Victory-class star destroyers then imperial ones and I would think that when it said star destroyer's it would include those Victories.

Wait? What are we discussing here? All I want to know if how big the Galactic Alliance Navy is in comparison to the Imperial, Separatist and Republic navies. There is no need for an argument.

EDIT: Oh and Rayla did you get my PM?

I think that's what we were discussing.

Personally I am not sure but there is one thing we seem to know numbers on and that's this type of ship http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Nebula-class_Star_Destroyer

There seems to be around at least 30 by 35 ABY considering the information given about production being upped during the YV war. What is also known is that was the ship the GA fleet had the least amount of in terms cruisers and destroyers so when you take that into account and look at the number of variety they had in that category (with increased numbers for ones we know were heavily mass produced) I would say they had at least 450 cruisers/destroyers. this is of course not including Mediators (which I suspect they only had about 30 of) or Viscounts and SSD which all together seems only about 5. The MC 140's didn't come in till about 90 ABY so by this point some of the other ships were not in use any more. Nor does it include anything smaller. That being said...... ya the Imperial Navy makes this one look tiny unless we were to speculate there was a massive amount more then my calculations have said.

Almost finished writing up my fleet wars competition, I think I have sufficiently spiced things up.

It's going to be like Dream Teams but with a lot of stuff cut out and a lot more added in to make it always interesting.

Sounds interesting. I look forward to it.
