40s as deception Assassin PVE

So I have a lvl 44 vengeance Juggernaut and a lvl 44 Deception Assassin. The Jugg seems to blow through fights with little problem, little downtime, doesn't need to rest between every fight. The deception assassin, not so much. He destroys standard and strong, but when fighting elites of his level his companion (Khem) dies and he survivies but it's always close.

I am not as experience with the deception assassin and was wondering if there was a tactic or rotation Im missing for fighting tougher fights and not surviving by the skin of my teeth. Or is that just the lot of the deception Assassin in the 40s for PVE?

The deception assassin seems to need to be behind his opponent a lot to make use of his most damaging attack, but after the initial volley, or if his companion dies (which always happens vs elites) then he has agro and is unlikely to get behind the opponent.
This internet could be a nicer place, let's start here.
Whatever you read in my posts, I actually really like SWTOR
