Spoilers: The Traitor

Okay maybe I missed a different forum post somewhere, but I need to get this off my chest.... WHEN DID THERON BECOME HIS FATHER?! One of the reasons I chose him was this amazing back story he has and how that collates with how he acts and treats people those around him. I'm sad that he did what he did, but I'm interested in how to see where this goes.

Personally, I'm putting money on he's either faking it and gaining more intel on this organization he's joined or they've manipulated him somehow (least likely, but eh). Or he's just crazy now. Idk. Anyone else have thoughts?

It'll be how they bring Revan's line to an end.

I have to agree with Fluffy on this one. I was initially shocked to find Theron as the betrayer. And his reasoning just doesn't make a lot of sense. :rak_02: At least not for the way I've played my light side character. So when I choose the light side option when making the holo broadcast, It appears to me that he is regretting the fact that he had to betray my character.

When he talks to the masked figure on the holocall, it only furthers my suspicion that the betrayal had to appear as authentic as possible (i.e. the Commander/character had to believe it was real) as a way of successfully infiltrating this group to either take them down from the inside or gather sufficient info for the Alliance to take them down in future chapters.

Whether BW will kill his character off at the conclusion of this storyline or restore him as a significant companion, only time will tell. Personally, I'd hate to loose him as a companion and episode player.

I am kind of disappointed they made Theron the only possible traitor but I guess this is the current one dimensional lazy story writing we will be getting from Bioware from now on.

I think it would have been cool to set it up that Theron DOES betray you if you chose to be the tyrant while taking the Eternal Throne but perhaps they should have had Lana be the traitor if you went LS instead because then she would blame you for being too soft. After all I notice Lana often critiques most LS choices you make in the story.

Well, you don't have to take those light side decisions, and I would say she agrees with many light side choices. Lana is not a typical Sith. Moreover, she has been infatuated with the PC (who is a legend), since their first meeting, and this persists; romanced or not. Her pathology would not suggest betraying the PC (whom she searched for, for 5 years). She took a hit from a blaster for the PC (though honestly my Sith warrior should have been powerful enough to force block it at that point...lol). If Lana is romanced, after Umbara, she sends you a message that says that she feels like she failed you as an intelligence specialist, and 'worst,' as a partner. Saying that she will destroy the stars if it means protecting you from another such betrayal. That's far more in line with her character.

Well when Theron goes off on you on the train with that drivel when he first betrays you it actually makes sense if you went DS tyrant. But it makes no sense to my ears if you chose LS rebuilder. He calls the Eternal Alliance "evil" and a "problem" after you decide to help rebuild Coruscant and Dromund Kaas after the war and send relief efforts to Zakuul?

Meanwhile I could see Lana blaming you for not being hard enough to stop the Republic and Empire from going back to war and being like "You should have used the Eternal Throne to make your law absolute instead of allowing these two sides time enough to lick their wounds and get back up on their feet to cause these problems again."

Because it makes no sense for a LS character, I'm wondering if they may be setting up to start the story branching again. In one, you kill him, in the other you save him. Maybe he does betray a DS character, but is actually trying to save a LS character. If they're wanting to do branching story lines again, that could be the place to start.

If that's the case, I hope they base it on past choices rather than actual alignment. Alignment these days is kind of a joke with the forced toggle. Not to mention the fact that you could be a Dark I character and not be "evil" at all. Most of my characters are Dark 1 and Theron approves of pretty much everything they do. Also not to mention the fact that Theron himself is a rather grey, if not sorta dark character. He's no goody two shoes, fluffy cinnamon roll either.

I think they realized, unlike the traditional canon (i.e. the films) they have something much more profound concept of the force in the EU/Legends. Starting out in SWTOR the Light and Dark was fairly dichotomous, but more recently they tried to make morality in Star Wars a little bit more complected. Which was one of the hallmarks of KOTOR 2. I'd like it if they added more grey options (which they sort of treat as neutral in the game e.g. options that don't give light or dark side points).

Well to me, it's obvious that Theron is "going undercover" with this new organization, and the only way that he could get in, would be to betray the Eternal Alliance and have them see it.

My big issue and question with this is ...why?

Your character is sitting on the Eternal Throne, commanding virtually unlimited power with an armada at their disposal. You defeated an immortal and his ridiculously powerful kids.

What possible threat can this faction pose? And if it IS a threat, where were they during the 5 years you were gone and the Eternal Empire stomped on the galaxy for fun and profit?

My point is that, this faction is no more than a yipping little dog that can't pose any real credible threat to the Eternal Empire, so Theron having to go undercover is trite, contrived and completely silly. It's like a cop going undercover to take down an underground bake sale, with the biggest danger being dragged into a book club.

Though I will admit they have sort of portrayed your character overall as just terrible at life in cut-scenes. More than once you have been completely neutralized by.... wait for it!..... A BLASTER! Twice in umbara alone you have nearly met your end because the enemy has a flimsy pistol. Watching Malcolm climb onto the throne and activate it, i watched in complete sadness and disbelief as it took him a good 5-7 seconds to climb on and punch a few buttons, while i'm sitting here "come on man!....use the force!...throw lightning!...you've got tons of time!... force pull him...throw him off the edge...saber throw!............or just stand there like a sodding tool and let him activate the big bad weapon of death....ya that works too..."

So maybe Theron feels that this mysterious order is going to send 2 untrained goons with slingshots, but they'll wait to attack you until you're in a cutscene...

All I gotta say is this is the 4th time my sith warrior has been betrayed. Once by her master, once by her first lover, then by valkorion but ofcourse she knew that would happen and now her 2nd lover. And somehow I see malavaii snickering to himself "uh huh, you should have kept me instead of that guy" lol.

Man after all the hell she's been through she was must be beyond mentally devastated after being betrayed by her only lovers. Now if only her friend and apprentice Jaessa was around to buddy with... Thanks bioware

She forgave Malavaii but I doubt Theron will be walking away after this.

Techincally 6 times, as Theron has betrayed you twice in one moment; breaking the relationship and going after the alliance. Then before that with Quinn on Iokath, he promised to faithfully serve your legacy before ilum but after the class storyline, but he didn't do that when he saw you back in his life on Iokath, he was serving Acina instead.

I didn't run into this. Maybe because i told him "hey you had years to make contact with me and i've moved on"

This depends on how this new faction is operating.

If they are very much like another empire like faction and plan to end you with force then yes it seems silly, but it could be that they are more insidious similar to the star cabal from the agent story line,For all we know there are agents of this faction in our alliance as well as inside both the republic and Empire.

If that's the case then finding them all before they do any damage would be difficult if not impossible so Theron is going undercover to route them out.

Which makes the betrayal even more dumb, because Theron could have been working with your character to root out these so-called agents inside our alliance instead of going rogue on us.
