CALLING ALL ELIGIBLE PLAYERS!

The official farm date window will be

Sunday 11/30 from 4pm-8pm EST

Planning to run this before 3.0 rolls out, because BW will up the levels of the HE to 60, make our current 180/186 armor the new Basic gear, nerf's our hybrids, and god knows what else.

Do you really want to take a risk at not getting you Crest because of an update? It could be a total repeat of the departure of the Rakata armoring with the rollout of 2.0 all over again IF they were to implement this same philosophy.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Teamspeak REQUIRED!

Studying these fights is REQUIRED!

Gear of 180+ and Augments IS REQUIRED!

Dedication to this fight is REQUIRED!

All of this run killing Hateful Entity will take place all in ONE DAY with at least 4 successful kills!

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Looking to get a group of 15 interested members to take on the Hateful Entity.

Looking for those with their Dread Guard Masks and 180+ gear. If you don't have the mask, we can take care of that by taking out DT if needed ahead of time. Veterans of this battle are more than welcome to join and are greatly appreciated. Everyone's cooperation will be required for all three fights.

We are going to need 1 tanks, 11 DPS and 4 healers. For DPS, I would like to keep the number of mDPS to a minimum, as this battle favors the rDPS, but certain exceptions can be made if the numbers are favorable.

We will be running this multiple times so everyone in the group can get a Crest of the Dread Master, which if everyone didn't have it already, would be a total of 4 kills; but we will see how everything pans out and how many veteran members with the Crest will be joining us.

Loot rules will be set for Master loot, at which point everyone will roll for the Crests, highest rollers will be given their Crest. Once we kill the Hateful Entity 4 times, everyone will have their own Crest of the Dread Masters. We will be killing Dreadtooth@1 so everyone has a Dread Guard Mask.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

(Credit to Zyhm for his original write up, bits of information have been incorporated into the following)

Abilities of note:

-Mass punt: Periodically punts everyone outside of 10 yards

-Dread Touch: Instantly kills the target unless the player is wearing a dread mask (hits for 20-25k on average with mask) which punts the target. Gives the player a debuff that prevents the player from receiving dread touch for its duration around 2 minutes.

-Hateful Void (Puddles): Around every 10 seconds hateful will drop a large puddle on the player with aggro (Tank) that ticks for around 5-7k per tick. These do not despawn and must be avoided.

-Pull: Hateful entity will pull the raid to him every 15-20 sec or 3 puddles. being at a higher elevation than the boss or too far away will cause the player to be thrown far behind the boss and most likely into puddles.

-Deathmark: Every 60 seconds hateful casts death mark (2 sec cast) which applies a debuff to 4 raid members this debuff varies in length from 2 to 13 seconds. When the debuff reach 0 the target will die. This ability must be cleansed. See additional information below.

Tank

The boss will place a stacking debuff called lingering shock on the tank that increases the damage dealt by his shock ability by 5% per stack (stacks up to 10). However the damage encounter so far (to around 50%) is low enough only one tank is needed.

While space is an issue it is important the tanks do not leave the Hateful voids too close together since players affected by the pull will take damage from multiple circles.

DPS

Being near the boss means you are not affected by the raid wide punt and that pulls do not move you as far and have reduced risk of being thrown behind the boss into puddles. The trouble is that this puts you in range of the bosses basic attack which is an AOE pulse that can take its toll over time. The goal for DPS is to optimize damage output while staying as close to the boss as possible but as far from the tank as possible this reduces risk of puddle damage and negates the problems coinciding with the punt and pull abilities.

Healers

Here's some healing tips.

If you get to be picky as to exactly what combination of healers you have coming, here are some ideal set-ups.

Four healers:

  • 1 Mercenary
  • 1 Sorcerer
  • 2 Operatives

Mercenary

The Mercenary basically deals with the tank the entire time and shells melee DPS when they have the chance. The other healers will begin to assist with tank healing the further into the fight you go, as The Hateful Entity's damage output increases.

Sorcerer

The Sorcerer bubbles the tank and the melee DPS, and anyone else they can afford to. They will drop their puddle in anticipation of where the tank and melee DPS are heading in the next 4-8 seconds. They can also perform spot healing on any players who dip critically low, but they have to manage their Force over an 8.5 minute fight, so they can't be singly-handedly saving everyone who's in trouble.

Operatives

The Operatives split the group into two sets of eight players. Each operative healer then takes responsibility for keeping two Kolto Probes up on their set of eight players the entire fight, casting recuperative nanotech on cooldown (one healer casts on the tank/melee cluster and the other on the rDPS/healer cluster), and spot healing any crisis situations, ideally with Kolto Infusion (maximum HoTs).

Five healers (only if the DPS is outstandingly strong--like nightmare Dread Palace strong):

  • 1 Mercenary
  • 2 Sorcerers
  • 2 Operatives

Under this composition you have the extra Sorcerer drop their puddle on the rDPS/healer cluster, also bubble (divide the group into two sets of eight players and assign them to each Sorcerer), and perform more spot healing.

Smart Healing

A key point to note for healers is that as each player is hit by Hate Touch (the single-target 30 meter knockback ability which repeats every 10-12 seconds) the player hit receives a debuff called "Hate Touched." This debuff lasts a variable amount of time between 1-2 minutes and any player who is Hate Touched cannot by hit by the Hate Touch knockback again until their debuff wears off. Therefore being Hate Touched is actually a good thing, as that player (and the healers) know that they will not take a Hate Touch hit while the debuff lasts.

What you'll see as the fight progresses is that every single player will be hit by Hate Touch and receive the debuff before any player is hit by a second Hate Touch. Once most players have the debuff, the healers, if they're really good, can see who has yet to be hit and can therefore anticipate where shells and bubbles will be most needed next. There will usually only be one or two players without the Hate Touched debuff at any given time once you're about two minutes into the fight, as the oldest Hate Touched debuffs fall off and new ones go out.

Sorcerer Tip

Use Force Barrier when Hateful Entity will strike you with the next Dread Touch (because your debuff has just expired). Hateful Entity will strike you with Dread Touch though you’re channeling Force Barrier. Dread Touch still knocks you down and stuns you (cancelling your channel of Force Barrier), but Force Barrier resists its damage.

If you revive an ally while in combat and after everyone has been struck by Dread Touch, it’s imperative that he be topped up immediately. Dread Touch’s debuff doesn’t persist through death, and, therefore, Dread Touch will strike him next.

(Credit to Imperium SWTOR for the following info)

The Hateful Entity starts with 1 stack of ancient wrath (5% increased damage dealt) and 7 stacks of ancient slumber (35% reduced damage taken). Every 30s he will cast Hateful awakening causing him to gain a stack of ancient wrath and lose a stack of ancient slumber. Hence the boss will take and deal more damage throughout the fight.

Every 10s through the fight the boss will cast a Hateful void (red circle) under his current target. These deal about 2k damage per second and increase in damage as he gains more ancient wrath stacks. The tank will have to move the boss once this is cast (diagram of path taken to follow below)

http://i.imgur.com/Y3cZpXK.jpg

The boss will target a random player every 15s and cast Dread touch on them. This is an extreme single target knock back and stun that deals around 19k damage at 10 wrath stacks. After a player has been targeted by dread touch they receive a 2min debuff that prevents them from been targeted again.

The boss will also cast Hate pulse, an AoE knockback to everyone in the raid every 15s. Keep your back to the wall or stand infront of the boss to prevent been knocked into the hateful voids or the Sarlaac.

Any players in range will gain a stack of pulse guard, reducing damage taken from hateful voids by 5% (stacks 10 times). To migitigate the DPS loss from this keep your back against any walls, plant pots, colums, trees etc.

Every minute through the fight the boss will cast an ability called death marks. This will place a random selection of 4 debuffs on 7 raid members (seems to bias towards higher aggro players). These marks must be removed before they time out or they will instantly kill the affected player.

3 seconds after the death marks are cast and every 20 seconds after he will pull 8 random raid members (and it seems always one tank) 20m towards the boss void. This ability occurs roughly after every second hateful void and combined the raid damage can quickly overwhelm your healers, especially at higher damage stacks. Thus the boss should be pulled towards the raid immediately after dropping a hateful void and then back into position (you have 10s to do so). This forces the boss to be far away from the void when the pull occurs negating the raid wide damage. As it stands this is the most dangerous ability in the encounter and coupled with dread touch can burst down a player before healers can react.

DPS even while 5 healing the fight is not an issue if everyone is kept alive, thus survival is the top priority here. Ranged players should keep their backs against a wall and stand roughly 15-20m behind the boss and move as the boss reaches them. Be careful you are not pushed into any voids.

The main crux of this fight are when the pulls occur in areas where the geometry means you will almost certainly hit a pool. This occurs when you are on higher ground to the boss, causing the pull to fling you over the boss.

Due to this during the second tunnel (the one leading to titan's room) stack up behind the boss and be no further than 10m away when you reach the step. This will be called by a raid leader. Once the raid exits the tunnel and enters the sandy pathway re-position 15m in front of the boss with your back to the wall and DPS him down the final 20% or so.

If the boss is pulled into the Sarlaacc everyone in the raid will be instantly killed by a /stuck like mechanic called hate. For this reason you cannot pull him into the Sarlaacc.

Spawning the Hateful Entity:

The procedures to follow are:

  1. The player with the correct nightmare lockout enters the phase first.
  2. Everyone clears all the trash between the Titan 6 gate and the Thrasher gate (excluding the trash at the top of the stairs).
  3. Your group very, very carefully kills the trash at the top of the stairs, keeping them in their room. All these trash mobs must be taken under 20% HP with none of them dying. You can tell when a mob is at the correct HP level because they gain a consumption debuff. If this procedure is performed correctly, and all mobs have the debuff at the same time, they will all instantly be killed at once.
  4. If you group fails to kill the trash properly (and it's trickier to pull off than you think), then have everyone exit the phase, reset it, and repeat Steps 1-3.
  5. The Hateful Presence will appear in the room. It is a wispy dark cloud.
  6. The player with the orb targets the Hateful Presence and then activates the orb in their inventory.
  7. The activating player will be stunned for ten seconds while taking damage from the Hateful Presence.
  8. The Hateful Entity spawns!

How to Spawn the Hateful Entity Video

***[Everyone be aware of this procedure, as it is VITAL to summon the Hateful Entity]***

In order to spawn the boss a raid team must simply take all the adds at the top of the stairs and get them down below 20% without killing them in the cave on 16-man NiM (in this case with a cleared instance). Once one add reaches 20% it will stop attacking and begin to be consumed by the Devour Essence debuff. The debuff lasts for 30 seconds, in which time all the adds must obtain this debuff before any of them are killed. After this, the adds will all die and the Hateful Essence will spawn. Simply click the orb on the boss at this point to begin the fight. The person with the orb will be stunned for a brief period before you will all exit combat and the boss officially spawns.

Just to re-clarify my information on this part concerning the orb. The orb will never go on cooldown for the person who possesses it as long as they have The Hateful Presence targeted when they use the orb (i.e. they don't mistakenly trigger the orb when they have nothing targeted). For example, either of the following two scenarios will work.

  1. Bob the Sniper has an orb he won ten months ago on a clear of The Dreadful Entity. He brings that old bound orb to your run. Your group can skip the Dreadtooth and Dreadful Entity stages and move straight into the nightmare S&V phase to prepare to summon The Hateful Entity. Bob will be able to summon The Hateful Entity as many times as you need.
  2. No one in your 16-man group already has an orb. Your group kills The Dreadful Entity and you take the orb drop for yourself. There is no need to trade the orb to different people during its bind timer. You can just keep summoning The Hateful Entity yourself for as many times as your group needs.

If you wipe and do not return to the medical center, the entire raid will be randomly ported around the instance (including outside of the Oasis City entrance elevator). Once the boss is spawned it does not remove itself from the instance. The orb will stay refreshed so long as you only click the boss at this point in order to pull it again.

In the event of a wipe during the Hateful Entity fight, be sure to select "Return to Medcenter" before it can port you, then just come back in the phase and take the speeder, otherwise everyone will be ported all around the place ranging from the start of the op, up to the elevator before operations chief.

Just some strategy clarifications for you.

Tanks

Two tanks are needed for fighting a 10-stack Dreadtooth, and will make the fight with The Dreadful Entity easier. However, for the fight with The Hateful Entity, it is a one tank fight. One of your two tanks will have to swap to an appropriately geared DPS or healer (depending on what your group needs). You will absolutely not have enough DPS, or healing, to kill The Hateful Entity if you bring two tanks to that fight.

Deathmarks

Eight cleansable/purgable variably timed countdown debuffs applied to random players in four pairs. If the debuff is not cleansed/purged before its countdown expires, that player is killed. Deathmark is a 2 second cast every 63 seconds. The pairs of debuff icons and their respective countdowns are:

  1. Skull - 4 seconds
  2. Dead body - 7 seconds
  3. Screaming face - 10 seconds
  4. Mummified body - 13 seconds

Anyone in your group who is on an Advanced Class that cannot cleanse or purge themselves (e.g. a Marauder) seems to be a preferred target for Deathmark. The healers assigned to cleanse those people should expect to need to do so every time Deathmarks go out.

Suggested Operation Frames Configuration (But healers do whatever works best for you)

http://i.imgur.com/YipgXyA.jpg

--------------------------------------------------------------------

The game plan for this Eternal Warrior run is as follows:

1. Farm Dreadtooth for Masks (Currently need to kill him 1 time for missing masks)

2. Clear up to Sarlacc pit in SnV NiM

3. Kill Hateful Entity 4 times

--------------------------------------------------------------------

If everyone on the team studies the material, watches the videos, and understands exactly where they are supposed to be, then we should have a relatively easy time with this fight.

Hi, visiting from The Shadowlands. I saw this mistakenly posted to the Ops/FP forum originally.

I have killed The Hateful Entity multiple times and I have a major correction for your planned run, a good one.

You only need one player with one orb to be able to pull The Hateful Entity as many times as you want in a row. The orb never goes on cooldown! The orb acts differently than the amulet. You can wipe twenty times or kill it twenty times, the orb can summon forever.

So the actual, bare minimum, requirements for farming The Hateful Entity are:

  • Everyone in the group is wearing a Dread Guard mask from Dreadtooth.
  • One player in the group has the orb from The Dreadful Entity.
  • One player in the group has a S&V nightmare mode lockout to the first two bosses (you do not have to clear Thrasher).
  • Your group kills the trash correctly to activate The Hateful Presence.

Any time you wipe, The Hateful Presence reappears and waits for you to use the orb to summon The Hateful Entity again. It's actually quite an efficient boss to pull.

That should save you a massive time commitment and help you find more people willing to run.

Of course the other trick to farming The Hateful Entity is actually killing it. ;-)

Best of luck with your run. Even in 180+ gear, it will happily give you a run for your money!

P.S. My #1 Tip for defeating The Hateful Entity is to find the absolute best tank you can. 60% of what it takes to kill it is solely dependent on the tank performing flawlessly.

Each trash that are in that little room with the stairs all must be below a certain percentage to activate. You can't kill a single one, else you won't be able to summon him.

Could you elaborate on how we must "Kill the trash correctly to activate The Hateful Presence."?

No problem.

If your group wipes, everyone will be teleported all around the first part of S&V and you can reform at the Hateful Presence and repeat Steps 6-8 to try again. Some players will be teleported to the other side of the Thrasher gate though, so it's usually more efficient for everyone to click "Return to Area Start" when it becomes available if you're in a phase that doesn't have all the bosses cleared.

Wow wonderful information, thank you very much!!

Please note, I have edited my OP in order to include an entry that states if you have/how many, Vials of Dreadful Essence, which will be used to get DT to 10 stacks. If you could all update your posts it will help me with the planning of this run. Thank you, and thank you for signing up!

NEED 3 rDPS AND 3 HEALERS

Favoring Sniper DPS's for the remaining DPS spots due to their shielding to protect the group.

Am hoping to run this before 3.0 rolls out, in case BW decides to up the levels of all 3 bosses to 60, and (hopefully not) change the items dropped.

Keep an eye on this thread http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=776863 for a response from BioWare, and please post in it until we get a confirmation response.

Do you really want to take a risk at not getting you Crest because of an update? It could be a total repeat of the departure of the Rakata armoring with the rollout of 2.0 all over again IF they were to implement this same philosophy.

Targeted farm dates will be either (or all!) 11/29, 11/30, or 12/1

I will be the one who will take the amulet as well as the orb, then trade the orb around to summon the HE multiple times; and would like to keep them after the farming is complete.

That is ridiculously helpful. Editing original posting to shorten this run! Thanks again Levram!

Just some strategy clarifications for you.

Tanks

Tank_1: Yuuzhan

Tank_2: Mathcore

Two tanks are needed for fighting a 10-stack Dreadtooth, and will make the fight with The Dreadful Entity easier. However, for the fight with The Hateful Entity, it is a one tank fight. One of your two tanks will have to swap to an appropriately geared DPS or healer (depending on what your group needs). You will absolutely not have enough DPS, or healing, to kill The Hateful Entity if you bring two tanks to that fight.

Deathmarks

You have a bit of unclear information posted regarding exactly what will happen. The correct information is the following:

Euro, I got your message. I could potentially respec and switch gear and dps the HE fight and would be ok with doing so. I think my dps gear is full 180's or better and augmented. However my value decreases as a dps mainly due to the fact that I have no self cleanse and that the gear is slightly weaker. However if thats the route we have to go I'm good with it.

Glad to hear it, just trying to find the ideal setup for this run, but we will see how everything plays out when the time comes. Thanks for being flexible!
