Drasill
Well, after two groups and about 5-6 hours I finally go it. Random deaths. Grapple not working. There is no way they didn't know about these issues before they put it in the game. Did they QA test this at all?

They just needed the game out by the holidays and hoped they could fix it before everyone hit 50.

Tanaki
Meanwhile in an alternative universe, fans are still screaming out for the release of SWTOR but Bioware insists that it will NEVER be released until ALL of the bugs are removed. Why do people still insist that MMO's shouldn't be released until 100% complete with no bugs?
Scan
Did this first time with 5 friends. Easy. I really do not know how people find this stuff hard, maybe its the people you are playing with thatis the problem and not the "issues" you have with the mechanics. Bizwolf
After you have your stuff and you are on the fleet, it takes 10 minutes tops. It didn't take 6 hours. That's like you saying you spent 2 hours in BT.

Mrs_Murder
Bugged as hell. People would randomly die when grappling and /stuck didn't work. Spent about 2 hours with 9 people and ventrilo before we gave up because it was simply bugged. Edited January 29, 2012 by Mrs_Murder

I've been waiting for a few months now for a guy to tell me one video game, just one video game that was released 100% bug free.... Ya, it will never happen. Why do people still insist that MMO's shouldn't be released until 100% complete with no bugs? I have seen the future. There will come a time when an MMO is released bug free. It will come with all the features that every other MMO has, every feature those MMOs will develop in the next decade, and some new ones that have never been seen before but will be awesome. It will come with lots of end-game content & raids at launch to keep players busy for years. There won't be a single bug to find. It will be so massively popular that it will finally overthrow World of Warcraft as the top MMO. It will be such a massively successful launch that every other MMO to follow it will fail in a spectacular explosion of forum-hate. This game will be called Starcraft Online and it will be released in 2025. In order to meet all those requirements in time for the deadline, Blizzard will need to start creating this MMO in the next few weeks or risk the release date being pushed back. Rafkin
Nobody is asking for a bug free game. But there are bugs you can launch with and bugs you shouldn't. SWTOR has too many of the latter.

Bring in the internet and the ability to fix things post sales.... Sell now, fix later. And some publishers don't even bother with the fix later part. Point is, It can be done. It costs money to fully polish something. So they ship with bugs because we put up with it and it saves money. Why spend the money to fix everything when you can ship a turd and just fix what really really bothers people. Why we think that because this is happening to most games this state is natural and should remain? This is still a PRODUCT,made by a company. This is still capitalism. "Here's the car u bought sir,the engine will be added in 3 months, the mirrors in 2,enjoy". It costs money, they need millions to fully polish it but they gain billions. Anyways,as said and i agree,if we don't like something just quit from it,no need to stay around raging/complaining. Still,we should show them that it is not ok to release products in this state. Videogame yes but it remains a product. No need to analyse further what it feels to me common sense even if i have 1000 valid arguments.

So something is either broken or perfect? There is never nothing in between? For you there is no difference from a game with 2-3 minor glitches that dont affect gameplay and a game with broken gameplay? Yes, games have bugs. This one had more then most. ObiQuixote
What alternative reality was this? I remember getting patches in the mail on disks for games.Which was rare and very expensive. Which is why they spent the money up front to properly test the game. Now it's cheaper to offshore QA and get it kind of playable, launch then fix what bothers people the most. Bad quality is decision companies make to save money. Not some sort of unavoidable state of being. Edited January 29, 2012 by ObiQuixote

It was a lot easier to create a title for a single set piece of hardware. Even cross platform titles were easier given it was only 2-3 variations of hardware. Now what do we have? A million or so permutations of PC's alone that increase the QC process to the extremes. Yes, there is definitely an element of shipping the game before it's complete in the knowledge that it isn't, but rather than the typical ignorant cynical view most consumers have it's a trade off of whether the product is good enough to go with the issues resolved as we go along rather than salivating shareholders saying "ship it and eff the public". IMO this game is in that state, it is buggy but not to an extent that it prevents the masses from playing.

We did not have the tools we have now), except with the bolded/underlined part. That part I agree. Except thats the issue. NOW it is in that state. Until two weeks ago (ability delay fixes first patch), it was not. A ton of players quit because of those issues and will never come back.
