BebeLeBozo
When one character reaches the end of Chapter 1 of their class story, you unlock your "legacy" on that server for that account. At that point you start gaining an additional type of XP, Legacy XP. At certain levels of Legacy XP certain abilities and items become unlocked. For example, you can purchase a mailbox for all your starships or acquire rocket boosters for your toons to move around quickly when out of combat. Most of the features make it easier to level your alts (xp bonus) or are for convienance (quick travel to certain locations). http://www.swtor.com/info/legacy Edited March 26, 2013 by BebeLeBozo

BebeLeBozo
thanks. not sure how will this work though ? are your characters aging in swtor? No, your characters don't age. If you role play, you can set up a family tree and you also get to name your legacy and use it as a last name or as a title. Your choice has to be unique on the server and you cannot change it so choose wisely. For example, lets say your character's name is "Luke" and you choose "Skywalker" as your Legacy Name You can display your character as: Luke Skywalker or: Luke The Skywalker Legacy or choose not to show your legacy name. psandak
In game mechanics terms, your "legacy" allows you to unlock a wide range of perks: - Some are account wide i.e. rocket boosters - you pay 2 million credits and you unlock the rocket boosters ability for ALL your characters within your legacy. - Some are character specific i.e. field repair droid - you pay 50,000 credits and the character you bought that perk on now has the ability to summon a droid that works like a vendor and you can repair your gear and purchase items (stims and medpacs) from, but no other character you have has that ability (until you pay 50,000 credits on another character). blindxsecrets
It's not at the end of Chapter 2 anymore. It's at the end of the starter planet now. Unless that's just for subs or something?
Khevar
It's not at the end of Chapter 2 anymore. It's at the end of the starter planet now. Unless that's just for subs or something? Unless something changed very recently, it's at the end of Chapter 1, which generally comes around level 30-32, right after Alderaan.
Skodan
it was never at the end of chapter 2, it WAS the end of chapter 1, but when the game went f2p they changed it so you unlock legacy at level
SebastiaanZ
It starts at lvl 10 mates. It used to be at the end of chapter 1.
Roalmo
It starts at lvl 10 mates. It used to be at the end of chapter 1. QFT. Plus, legacy names are no longer "unique".
Frog_brains
the big thing about the legacy system now is that you can benifit from what your other characters do. So if you finish all the companion conversations missions on for example a sith inquisitor, you will get a +50 presence boost to all your characters, meaning your tank companion on your new commando will do more damage and hold aggro better at the same lvl than it would have done otherwise if you didn't have that buff from your inquisitor. This presence buff is cumulative as well, so if you had 7 classes with all your companion conversations maxed out (to 10,000k) you'd get +50 pressence bonus from each of them for an addition 350 pressence on all your characters, from lvl 1 on. this makes your companions vastly more effective. if you scroll over your companions stats in the character sheet you can see the formula they use to show the bonus to damage and to healing that the pressence gives to your companion. The other thing that legacy gives you thats' really nice for lvling other alts or for soloing or 2 manning heroic content is the legacy attacks. once you finish chapter 3 with any character, any additional character will have access to 1 legacy attack from that class that they can use during an heroic moment. so going back to the inquisitor example, when your inquisitor gets to the end of chapter 3 you'll be able to use 'lightning storm" with your commando if your using your heroic moment.
