I got a new laptop, and the game has been downloading for 14 hours. it's been a year since I downloaded it on my desktop, but I don't remember it taking that long.

 

Anyone else run into this?

Sounds like you have a bad connection, or something on your laptop is using up your bandwidth.

If you could plug the laptop into a wired connection, instead of trying to burn out your wireless router, you should be able to crank out some more speed. You could also try copying the game files over from your desktop, and then clicking the "Repair Installation" button, but that's been known to not work very well. Your mileage may vary.

How much stuff is running in the background on your computer. My friend used to cry about slow gameplay on swg, then one day another guy looked into it and found a whole bunch of processes running for stuff like media programs that were slowing the whole computer down. If you just downloaded 50 programs onto your laptop like some people do, you may want to look at your processes and see what you can shut off. Edited December 25, 2012 by bahdasz

The game takes a long time. My sister had to wait about 9 hours. My download only took 5 or 6 hours. I guess it really just depends on what time of day you are downloading.

 

If they don't use a peer-to-peer client, it would probably improve speeds alot if they did.

Let's also not forget that this isn't a jpg we're talking about, it's like 20+ gigs of crap.
