Kirjalax
This question only just occurred to me, for some reason. I have been running a Sentinel for a while now, but so far have only been looking at a saber's stats, without paying any attention to offhand/mainhand status. I suppose my general assumption was that if the blade fits in a slot, then it's effective in that slot. So is it ok to equip 2 mainhand sabers as a Sentinel? Or am I gimping my damage output by not having a specialist offhand saber in my offhand? thx. Edited February 1, 2013 by Kirjalax
Beemerchick
You cannot equip 2 Mainhand weapons. Some weapons will list as Main hand/Off hand, which means you can put it in either hand. Some will say "Main hand" or "Off hand," which means you can only equip it to that hand.
Kirjalax
Ok thanks for the reply. Your response seemed pretty clear but just to clarify: If a weapon is mainhand only, it will not be possible to equip it in the offhand. If a weapon is offhand only, it will only be usable in the offhand. If a weapon has properties which allow it to be used in either hand, it should state so in the item description, and it can be equipped in whichever hand you want it. Is that right? Thanks. Holinyx
weapons always say "mainhand" "offhand" or both. "both" can go in either slot, whichever you equip first goes in mainhand Edited February 1, 2013 by Holinyx
Kirjalax
Ok that's great. I appreciate the responses. I think I was just reminded of Kotor (1 or 2?) where you could equip a saber in the wrong spot and really reduce your damage output. Just wanted to make sure. Just be sure to equip the one with the higher damage in the mainhand. In SWTOR, the offhand weapons suffers a severe damage penalty. So if you have one saber that does 100-200 damage and another one that does 80-160 damage, equip the one that does more damage in the mainhand. RendValor
If you ever come across an offhand lightsaber that is better than your mainhand lightsaber, you can always rip out the mods and put them in the mainhand weapon (easier to get Rakata offhand weapons than mainhand weapons, for instance)
