Well i can see server migrations being in effect well before any space update and doing something along these lines will bring alot of people to the game anyhows.

 

Thats true. Although server merger is almost impossible server migration should help a bunch, especially if its free from low pop servers.

Also with the way we have outlined stations in space not being social hubs but more stop and shop/sell places means that fleets and if they do it guild bases in asteroids will be the only real social hubs still. All the other orbital stations we have now for planets can still be used as social hubs and flown to via free flight.

 

Of course we should expect people to be able to get on others ships whislt still in space and others being on ships in a social aspect whilst others are piloting them to be in effect. Under what we have come up with they could also do things like crit crafting bonus's whilst crafting on mining ships as they are developed to refine ores and manufacturing of which mining ships are defined as the crafters ship of choice.

 

I mean lets look at an idea from this, players make missiles for example, other players could go upto another player on a mining ship who makes missiles. They open up chat with them and the player invites them onto the ship, places an order and the crafter creates 1000 missiles for them, the player gets back in there ship and goes along his way.

 

Missile mags still hold a cap of lets say a max 150 missiles and 4 protons but you can store more on your ship and other players be it on stations or running around in your ship can reload the missile mags with stores held on the ship.

 

That creates a basis for an economic need for space crafters and gives a major reason for gtns on ships.

What can be done for ship customization cos obviously we dont wanna be copy pastes of each other do we. Ive dotted down an idea in the 2nd post.

Just thought of another thing for missions, possibly workable on the ground too. Research and investigation.

 

Key to this is you follow a specific line of research, could be sith history, jedi history, a necronomicon of the infinate empire or eshkari tech. Looking for old tech and info in one of them can give you hints to hidden space routes, tech that they used and unlock datacrons type things for use in space. The research allows you to create specific weapons and shields etc that they developed that you can equip to your ship and when mastered can lead you to unlocking rare ships at master level.

 

Its found via finding abandoned ships, space stations and old satalies in space. When i say jedi and sith i mean from before the force wars era stuff. You know how there is like a long lost sith ship on voss and that type thing. They could be orbiting close to suns on a decaying orbit so you have a slim time to get on sort and tow them or get what you need from them.

 

Im thinking it could work via codex entrys, the codex entrys give tips and hints to where possibly look next.

 

I dont know how to limit the effects or the possible edge it could give beyond cosmetics and possible time invested and how you could give it to players without being power leveled. But ye know just throwing it out there for peeps to bounce off.

Please Bioware and Lucasarts make it easier for me to fully control my ship with my joystick; I can fully move my ship and fire both lasers and rockets, but the problem is that my crosshairs stay in the middle of the screen so I can't fire at the enemies I need to while using my joystick.

Please give us more control with our ship and A LOT more options for customizing our ships and having more ship choices. Please have open space flight and space pvp as well as different missions to gather items and board capital ships. Please never forget, this is Star Wars :) Space is CRITICAL! There are some really awesome ideas posted on this forum that would make this gaming experience amazing!

Just wondering, has anyone gotten some screen shots of large and small ship models that are parked on the planets so we could look through them and suggest what ships would be good for this that exist modeled in the game already ?

 

I know of one model, a small republic fighter parked inside the outpost senth on hoth but no idea where to put screen shots of it.

yay to space combat other than that stupid tunnel/mouse targeting mini-game :rolleyes: !

 

There's so much they can do.... create lot's of roles for people, Solo Pilot on Fighter, Crew teamwork on larger Ships (one member piloting, others on turrets, other attending to ship's systems). PvP in Space would be so much fun and would lure people back to the game since it's something other games can't offer.

Many thanks. I hope we covered as much as possible and reasons for the things being in space and even possible world pvp and pvp type events and matchs and possible arena type matchs to work with a ranking system for not just pvp but the bounty system. Not to mention how we thought to possibly combine endgame space with ground as pleasing to many.

 

I just hope that Bioware devs see this and even if they take part of what we have put down as to be put into space to make the game a little richer and more open to a bigger playerbase and enjoyable by the playerbase already here.

 

My personal hope beyond what bioware may take from this and put into space is for this to become a great topic that can debate, refine and add ideas and thoughts to the 1st to posts and when space does get changed we can look over this topic and look at space and see if we did anything great by giving this type of feedback and concept ideas to bioware.

Looking at what we have just listed down, not including what im sure the devs already have in mind with all their "infinite wisdom". I would actually be willing to wait for an expansion. I think that might be the only way to get it all in and correctly. Perhaps on the next round of expansions they could release 2, one for ground and one for space. Player housing has always been a huge deal for me and with space being for all intensive purposes infinite with limitless planets this game is ideal for it. But on the other hand there must be a reason why its been implemented successfully so few times. I can only think of a handful of games where player housing and structures has been done well. Not even the all mighty wow managed it.

 

If anyone can think of ways that this and space combat could be seamlessly linked i would love to see it put up here in hopes of being read.

 

We have an opportunity here people!

I would like to see space of this topics nature to be a patch and not an expantion, but on the flip side an expantion just for a planet with sandbox housing and a vast open world for said housing and possible player citys could be an expantion.

 

That way bioware could get a good handle on how many want this type of thing and only the people who want it would have to buy it. It could be that your phased via a group of servers to the planet so its spread across more then one server.

 

Im thinking along the lines of how sims do there mini expantions and EA are good at those. Could even be DLC and not an expantion as such.

It would have to be cross server. That would solve the population problem in one go. GW1 had a decent cross server function where you wernt set to any one server but could change at will. I wouldnt say thats the best option for here, i think you loose the community sprite but a social would should be cross server. Until people make friends then realise they cant actually play the game with them. It would also give EAware a chance to get all the fluff out of their system.

 

On a smilar note, space should be the same system. A battle group style set up with grouped servers. TBH this should have been done in the first place.

Space pvp bgs cross server yes but not space itself, space in how its played will see more players then the ground game visably due to how the zones should be created, like inner rim outer rim and possible 4 unknown regions of space and the ability to fly the space zones fully from one planet to another.

 

They could impliment a system of load on demand so space zones unload when no one is there and reload as people go into it to save on server space. Also with how we have set up via the main topic on space mining, space sabotage and space pvp and none factioned pvp zones even a small number in space would be playable due to dynamic events and mob spawns within space and the smuggling and bounty missions that we have set out.

In terms of missions, I would LOVE to see something like a "speeder mission" set, sort of like the Space Missions. You're on a speeder and you're either delivering something, escorting someone, racing against the clock, or chasing down people (many opportunities). Also having "Speeder Commendations" to upgrade the speeder you're using for these missions, get different speeder customizations, and maybe some speeder piloting/racing gear. This could also work for speeder racing in the game in general.

There's even some moving ones in game, Balmorra imp side, I'm sure has a couple that swoop over you.

well running from memory there are a few small fighters of different varietys inside bases, on balmora in the imp endzone for the class and zone quests we have to go into a spaceport type thing but i dont want todo spoilers but there is a large ship and some small shuttle type ships from the rebel side parked up, including a smaller version of a vette parked up that could be one type of mining ship.

 

Cant wait to see what screenies people come up with.

Well update me thinks, due to this article released today, if you look at the very bottom of it that could be clues to the fact that some of what is in here due to it being collated from the playerbase on the forums via vigaruos searchs of said forums could be coming.

I really like the idea of guilds having space stations, something like u can build defenses and one guild can attack another guilds station and if they win they get some rewards just like a flashpoint. Also just having your own space station for your guild would be pretty sweet add the ability to attack others and this game just got a ton better.
