2 new class idea

So i had an idea of 2 new classes Gladiator for the Empire, and Guard for the Republic, the starting planet would be the same for the gunner classes of each faction. Now at first they will be a little confusing since you will have both a vibro-sword and a blaster pistol. You can equip whatever one you want any time but you may want to hold up a bit till 10 when you decide what you go close-range or long-range, if you pick close-range you will look for heavy strength and endurance, and be either a meele dps, or meele tank. If you go long-range look for heavy aim and endurance and be either a range dps, or range healer. Now i know there are kill cut-scenes which you use your weapon and that will be a bit hard to tell what you use cause or your weapon but I remember that the trooper and agent each have a blaster pistol to the side they use for those so these classes will use a knife.

 

Gladiator:

Races: Human, Cyborg, Zabrak, Rattataki, and Cathar.

 

Story: You arrive on Hutta and being escorted by some guards as you make it in to a room an see your 2 partner gladiators a Kaleesh called who goes by the name Tooth-break because after he kills someone he breaks a tooth. He was a gladiator under Nemro the Hutt but won his freedom, however since he had no other skills and was both great in and loved the ring he decided to stay as a free gladiator still fighting for the Hutt. The other partner is Shae Vizla yes that Bounty Hunter you see in those cinamatics, she picked a bounty to kill Nemro, ended up killing the former 2 gladiators that were to fight for Nemro and got surrounded she had 3 options 1) Die, 2) Become one of Nemor's dancers) or 3) Become a gladiator for Nemro. With these 2 alone Nemro would win but rules are 3 per team and that's where you come in.

Now your class story for this planet is to do somethings for Nemro outside the ring with other Gladiators who are doing it for their masters after the job is done you come back and fight in the ring. All matches will be one on one except the last where your team comes to fight as well, and there are a total of 3 all you matches you will fight an elite except for your last where you also fight a regular. Shae Vizla will become your companion after the 2nd fight where a Trandoshan from the team you will fight in the end a full Trandoshan team, will try to kill you Tooth-break gets in the way of the attack and get injured but kills the Trandoshan. The ring judges decide both teams are good enough to have 2 members just and it would be interesting to see if these 2 teams will be the ones to face each other. So after winning the tournament Tooth-break tells you that Nemro has decided to free you both since you earned him a lot of credits that are twice the amount he earned the last 5 tournaments, but reminds Shae Vizla that she shouldn't try to go after Nemro as he is sure the samething will happen again and that she already used 1 of her 2 options as you go to enter the room Nemro is in you see someone pointing a gun at Nemro Tooth-break goes to charge at him but gets killed you do the same and tackle him and wounding him, Shae say's he is someone who works for the people who hired her to kill Nemro and you and her go to Dromund Kaas to find the people who put up the bounty for whatever reason you pick Nemro Hired you, it looks fun, or for Toooth-break.

 

After you finish you class quest on Dromund Kaas you discover that it is part of the galaxy's first ever galactic tournament and winning this will get to meet these people where you go to a planet you are assigned and follow a fight system like Hutta's do some sidething be one of the first 2 back fight, live, move to the next. Though sometimes the other gladiators in your bracket all die before hand in which you will fight either a strong beast or droid, or many weak ones they have away to keep the crowd entertained.

 

Guard :

Races: Human, Cyborg, Zabrak, Mirialan, and Cathar.

 

Story: You are a guard assigned to protect a senator who is coming to try to make negotiations with the separatist, when his shuttle is blown up behind him, and you are the only guard to survive it while at first believed that the senator and his daughter are dead they could find the bodies while all the other dead including the pilot who was in the blown ship bodies could be found. You volunteer to find what you can out in the field since you believe that if there is a chance they are alive you must protect as it is your duty. You do the what you can and with the clues you find you discover he is in a volcano, aka the seps base. You find him dead and his daughter about to be killed when you disarm one of the kidnappers and the daughter gets the pistol ready to help you fight them after the fight, one of them escape and them escape and the daughter will tell you where if you can help kill her kill them your reason It is my job to protect you LS, Flirt- anything for a beautiful lady (male only), Revenge is needed DS.

 

Haven't thought to much about how to proceede with the Guard other than you are just trying to find the kidnapper.

 

So that is what i have really so far, I know this will be looked as a bad idea most likely but if you think it has a chance let me know and tell me what you think could need changing because i believe that a 2nd persons thought's are always important. For the companions i did thing a little you get your droid with your ship, and you see your first one i talked about. Also male guards can start a love relationship with the daughter but I have heard people online both game wise and other places online asking about same sex couples in the games so maybe these 2 can be the first classes you can have Bisexual companions, Shae Vizla can be romanced by both male and females, and for the guard you will meet someone can't decide if he will be smuggler or trooper but his name will Captain Jack.

But that's why BIOWARE developed the game, and you didn't :p

Both of those classes offer nothing new to the game. The only reason to add a new class is if they are something totrally different than all other classes. So far the only thing I have seen to make a good new class is the Melee only guy.

 

That being said they will never add new classes because they would have to make all new cutscenes and dialogue from 1-50 for them and that wll never happen.

Both of those classes offer nothing new to the game. The only reason to add a new class is if they are something totrally different than all other classes. So far the only thing I have seen to make a good new class is the Melee only guy.

 

That being said they will never add new classes because they would have to make all new cutscenes and dialogue from 1-50 for them and that wll never happen.

 

What about the stats thing where you have to pick strength or aim sure they are in the game but isn't this the first time where a class can look at 2 stats, also melee only gee Sith warrior, Jedi knight you know any melee only guys

They wouldn't have to create story content from 1-50. Let's say for the sake of arguement, they do create a new class, and it's part of a larger expansion pack. They could just start the class at level 40 or so and start the story there. Same thing world of warcraft did for the Death Knight, not a difficult concept at all.

 

That being said, your class ideas are neat, but don't bring enough new to the table, for a new class to be introduced, it would have to bring something very different to the table. A gun/melee hybrid like you gave an example of could be an idea for a starting point, but the end result is still you choosing either a melee character or a ranged character.

I think these are interesting ideas for new classes.

The gladiator class is the most interesting in my opinion. I like the idea of tournments :)

So keep thinking about and devolping your new classes idea OP.

I doubt we will see new classes soon but these threads or at least interesting to read :)

Well if you are saying that it would be better if it was always a range/melee that was my first idea when coming up with it but of course can't make it to op cause for range users it is about staying at distance while melee it is about getting in close, and if your character is a master at both it is the DK thing again where it is to op, lots of complaints and a hell lot of nerfs where no one wins. i was just thinking a mix would be good that both sides will have a fair amount of melee and range. The trick is to make it unique enough that it isn't the exact same thing as other classes, but still give its more down to earth limitations.

I'd like to see as independents and how it would be done is iffy and i'd have to think about it, but Zeison Sha, and Makutai adepts.

 

Zeison sha brings something new because they rely on telekinesis and their disk-blade. something different.

 

Matukai adept, their usage of the force is what sets them apart. And they can fight unarmed as much as they do with their pike blade.

 

Something like THAT is what should be different.

Ok looked at them on wookiepedia and from what i see of what you are asking is for 2 new classes that aren't the same they don't rely I same atributes now i could be wrong if i am sorry please explain because it does sound cool these ones, but if it is what you are saying no they won't do that because of balance the trick is ok make them close enough where someone can't complain that they favour one side over the other, but you have to also make them unique that they aren't viewed as the exact same but a way as a counter to the enemy faction

In all reality, new classes don't have to bring a damn thing to the table. They don't have to be innovative or crazy new as far as gameplay goes. If that was the case, all the game would need is Sith Warrior, Sith Inquisitor, Jedi Knight, Jedi Consular... because those 2(4) classes already offer melee, range, dps, tank, and heal.

 

What a new class does need to bring to the table, is a way to achieve their role through story and gameplay without feeling rushed, ill thought out, forced, incorrect, or just lame. Another class with a blaster is still a good class if it offers unique attacks and animations, a creative story that keeps the player engaged, and well designed roles/ability trees.

 

That being said, new classes will never happen so I don't know why people keep bringing them up. The game is barely staying afloat as is, the funding it would take to bring [back] in two voice actors, contract [new] writers, increase development programming and quality assurance staff to a capable point of seeing the classes through from design to launch, and much much more, is just too much.

 

At least with new races all they have to do is create some textures and call it a day, and we still haven't seen any of those yet.

I'd like to see a class that works a bit like LOTRO's captain. an off healer buffer/ debuffer

 

As interesting as a heavy buff/debuff class would be, I doubt it's something they'd consider even if they caved and created a new class.

The development team has gone to pretty good lengths to avoid that type of character. From giving each class a unique class buff (avoiding the concept in an attempt to created a higher demand for grouping), to limiting the amounts and types of buff/debuff each class can do through skills/abilities.

 

I'm pretty sure, in their mind having a class that could off heal, buff, and debuff would severely dampen the need to group for these benefits. Granted, any of this would only logically apply to leveling content, since even with potent buffs, debuffs, and mild off heals it would be nigh impossible to solo end game content with just a tank/dps companion.

 

The other problem a class like this would introduce is balancing. Everything from frequency of each class being played (why role anything else?), to pvp balance, all the pve balance, and the end game operations balance. The whole game would need a severe rebalance to compensate for an abundance of potent buff/debuff ability (mostly because of my previous point, the game wasn't originally designed for such ability). And if there's one thing we've learned, it's that EAware fails at balance as is.

To the OP, the Glad story sounds way too much like the bounty hunter.

 

IMO 2 new classes should be Tera Kasi Master( Empire) & Echani Duelist ( Republic). Easy mirror since they are both essentially unarmed classes. Plus it's something else that this game can just copy off of WoW thanks to the Monk class in Kung foo Panda expansion.

Well both do involve a tournament and finding someone to kill, the Hunter also wants to win because of respect for their former and current teamates, the Glad really won't care if they win or not just as long as they get revenge. Also a Kung FU Panda joke when did they thaw you out of the ice.
