  1. You always run the risk of incredi-bads in GF, but it has gotten way more interesting to me with 4.0.... The number of folks who queue with double digit rating gear then complain that it's too hard, or expect others to carry them through is mind boggling right now. Had a tank queue yesterday with premium 90-134 rating DPS+Tank gear in a 65 HM flashpoint, bail out of Lost Island because healer couldn't keep up (she was doing everything she could). "This just isn't going to happen guys..." were his parting words. No crap, Sherlock. Just had to quit a Maelstrom Prison 65 HM because the other DPS and Healer were in very similar gear as the tank above. And the other DPS (Sentinel, of course) insisted on pulling... Healer was melting like a snowball in hell. When someone dies on every trash pull, something is very wrong. Am I taking crazy pills, or has this gotten worse? The JC server used to be a relatively pleasant place for GF... now I worry every time I queue. I feel like "bolster" has given bads/new players a false sense of entitlement when it comes to 65 HMs... Gah!
  2. Last night I'm on my Vanguard tank, and I get a GF pop for HM Rakata with a DPS Guardian, Sent, and Sage Healer. Zone in, guard the better geared DPS (don't remember which), and we start to roll out. Sage starts asking for guard. I ignore through the first couple mobs, and the Sage asks again. (Paraphrasing) Me: You don't need it. Sage: Neither do the DPS so why guard them? /Facepalm. I ignore (not /ignore) him and we move on. In the handful of mobs before the Rancor, Sage takes a little bit of damage. You'd think one of two things happened here: a) the world was literally ending for the Sage or b) I'd just shot his puppy in front of him. He starts oozing sarcasm in chat about how "Ooooh, guess I don't need guard" and "Don't blame me when the heals start getting weak because I have to take care of myself..." Asks for guard again right before rancor, and I tell him no, if he doesn't like it, he can leave. Sage: "Lol no I'll put up with your pore tactics." We start to fight the rancor, Rakata-man jumps down, and I'm watching the DPSs' health drop. The root debuff is literally double stacking on them. Somehow the fight glitches, and right as they kill Rakata-man, the fight resets and we start all over with the Rancor. At this point they've been beat down too badly for this to work, and the roots start appearing again. They burn alive, we wipe, and res. Me: You know healer's cleanse clears the root, right? Sage: Ya, but that reset messed up my cooldowns. I'm suspicious, but I can kinda see this. Kinda. Okay not really. Then the DPS says something telling in defense of the Sage: DPS: Oh yeah, he was pulling us out of the fire. At this point, I'm convinced the Sage thinks his friendly pull is his cleanse, and that's why his "cooldowns" were "messed up." We try again, and sure as hell, the roots start appearing, and stacking on the DPS. Suddenly the healer DCs, and we wipe. One DPS quits and we kick the healer. Get two new teammates within minutes, finish the FP without any further issues (aside from that gad damned Wookiee). I've started seeing a LOT of 192 geared players who have no idea what mechanics are. Sage was one of them. It's crazy frustrating. I'm not the greatest player in the world, my last attempt at HM DF with another guild was downright embarrassing for me. But I learned.
  3. I am truly glad people are still enjoying the game, and I do think it can be fun from time to time, but I'm just not at the OP's enthusiasm anymore. Haven't tried any other MMORPGs (except Galaxies ) to compare. I started playing when it went F2P, enjoyed it enough to sub (about 2 years now I think?), but with the recent 3.0 release and all the drama associated with it's bugginess, the slot machine, and the attention afforded to the CM on the whole, I've just lost interest and unsubbed. I'll still play, I just don't feel any justification in paying anymore, and I'm really turned off by the seemingly primary goals of the developer as a whole. What really killed it for me was 12 x XP. I had a blast while it lasted and thought it was great at the time, leveling up all 4 classes on each faction. Now I have completed all the main story lines and dailies are boring. I kinda wish I'd taken more time to enjoy the class stories and do some achievement hunting instead of rushing to get to 55. I thought about trying Elder Scrolls Online because I enjoyed Skyrim, but the more I read about it, the more it seems to be going the same route as this game. My question to the people who still really enjoy the game is, what about it keeps you playing (and are you subbed or F2P)?
  4. Ok, great. That's what I thought, just wanted to make sure. Thanks!
  5. So I want to make sure I'm reading this correctly. I've only just started getting into PVP. Is it then a bad idea for me to start spending Warzone comms on PVP gear with 3.0 about to drop? Should I just save them up?
  6. I think OP has an awesome idea. I would really enjoy this, seeing as I'm not guilded and play with only a couple close friends. The instances could scale to the number of group members like some of the later missions in the story line, and rewards would be commensurate with number of people involved and survival time. I suppose this could even lead to SM, HM, and NiM onslaughts for heightened rewards, or maybe operation group onslaught missions. However implemented, sounds like a great idea!
  7. Something I would love to see is a legacy storage container sort. Just like the inventory or personal storage containers, to enable organizing by quantity, value, etc... I'm assuming there's some technical reason why this doesn't exist already. I saw this posted in Strongholds forums, but figured I would add it to the suggestion box. Also, more of a cosmetic suggestion, any chance future additions to the game could utilize some of the classic Episode IV-VI soundtrack? I hear a lot of Episode I-III, some KotOR, and even some original music while playing, but I would really get more STAR WARS satisfaction out of hearing some of the original Star Wars music in the game. Not sure if it's absent for era or timeline purposes, or maybe even licensing/copyright issues, but it would be great nonetheless. Just my opinion.
  8. I apologize if this has already been asked, I didn't see it. Will characters with the legacy field respect unlocked be able to apply it to the discipline system as well? I don't like the idea of my Commando/BH being confined to one play-style. I like using field respec to be versatile to the needs of a group, whether DPS or Heals. I know this issue has drawn aggro for people queuing for the wrong spec, but I'm more interested in whether or not Field Respec will carry over. I always respec/regear for what I pop in GF for.
  9. Well this is frustrating... queue for DP SM in GF, get a pop, zone in, only to get told that, "Sorry, we're looking for guildies." So I get kicked from the group, and I get a lockout from GF? ***?
  10. That's because it is eerily similar to Serenity from Firefly...
  11. TLDR Version: If you're going to queue for SM Hammer Station as a veteran player, you sure as hell better be prepared to help teach new players, instead of raging like a small child. Had an interesting GF FP pop last night, somewhat sad in my opinion. I started a new Merc healer, queue for Hammer Station, and get a match in minutes. Everyone loads, says hello, and starts to move out. Very quickly I can tell its a group of new players (minus myself and one Mara DPS), because the other two have a tendency to wander. I start to look at everyone's achievements, since I think this is a better gauge than people's gear as far as how new someone is. Mara DPS is 18K+, so knows what he's doing. The Sin tank and Sorc DPS are both less than 500, so it's apparent to me that these are really NEW players. Well the Sin tank starts ninja looting. Does it once, Mara complains, but everyone moves on and no one explains etiquette. At the second boss (Vorgan?), Sin tank does it again. When the Mara asks why he needs on Strength gear, Sin replies it's for his companion. Mara rage quits. Says, "Well forget this," and drops the deuce. I explain to the Sin why what he did wasn't appropriate, and his lightbulb goes off. Wasn't snarky, just told him how the game works. Tried to help him with his rotation too, but I could tell he was suuuper engaged during the fights and wasn't paying attention to chat. Expectation management. PUGs/GF groups are going to have new players. My campaign to help new players (because we've all been there), instead of raging on them, continues...

  13. Look, I don't disagree with any of the points made above. Honestly. I have been on the side of losing people out of an operation group FAR more times than I have had to leave. It is frustrating, sure, especially when it takes a long time to put the group together (PUG). I have been there, I KNOW it sucks. What I don't agree with is the way people seem to get disturbingly personal and down right crude about it. Get frustrated all you want, you've earned that right, but don't make a fool of yourself by acting like that. It's really not a question of whose time is more important, I apologize if that's the way my OP came across. What I wanted to get across (or rather vent about) is how terrible it is that people think its okay to talk to other people that way, regardless of it being a video game. I know, its getting touchy-feely in here, so I'll stop on this train of thought. This was the wrong place to vent that thought, but it frustrated me enough to want to get feedback. With that, I do appreciate all responses. I think it's tricky to try and introduce Guild vs No Guild into this argument. If I had the time to put into Ops, I would love to be part of a guild that ran continuously and TAUGHT members the mechanics. As someone who sticks to PUGs, I could do with fewer guild players harassing and insulting non-guilded, F2P, or casual players. Help them learn to play if you really want to be a credit to your online community. So what do I take out of this? It sucks for me, but I can't queue for ops. I feel like I miss out on content as a subscriber, but I'll get over it, or find time when it's a viable option for me. I do, sincerely, apologize if I have wasted anyone's time by dropping from your ops group.
