  1. Imperials fight for their "country" as much as Republic does. The only difference is that Imperials are also like Roman Legions, the soldiers often end up killing each other because they belong to power bases (Sith infighting) which is no small part of the Empire. The Empire is the same as the Republic and Brussels except the Republic let's it's members exist while the Empire like the Soviet Union swallows them and sends the "slaves" to go mine ore or maybe build statues. If anything the Empire is much closer to the EU and Brussels because the "politicians" at Brussels are not elected. The Imperial soldier dies for the same reasons the Imperial Japanese did. For the emperor and for conquest. The Republic is most definitely a civilization, it doesn't have to be one nation to qualify for that. It's simple really SWTOR is 2 Galactic civilizations going against each other. 1. One is a Republic, the other an Empire. So you have democracy vs tyranny. 2. One gets it's members through trade, protection etc, the other through conquest and enslavement with the exception of the chiss. 3. Republic soldiers fight for the Republic and it's ideas/democracy, Imperial soldiers fight for the Empire, for revenge (Because of the great war before) and for their emperor. The Sith just tend to use them for their own good gains, throwing bodies at their enemies. What else should we compare? I love the Empire don't get me wrong, but it's in no means a "country" that patriotic soldiers fight for because they love it lol.... Maybe that would be the case without the Sith. I'm sure North Korean soldiers are are very proud and patriotic but that comes with indoctrination. When you grow up as a child forced to believe a certain idea or to serve a certain man, you'll love it, just not the same way a young American might love their constitution.
  2. I actually prefer the garbage infested places of Coruscant compared to the order and cleanliness of the Empire. I do like the Empire but when I pick my characters I look at which society I would support if I actually did live in SWTOR. As much as I like the Empire I'd be terrified of living in a society where the people I'm supposed to follow with unquestionable loyalty can end my life on a whim, even if I make the smallest mistake. I prefer the Republic because it's so flawed and sometimes ugly but it was really built on democracy, freedom and equality for all life within the Galaxy. That's why the Jedi originally jumped on board. It's changed a lot of course, and corruption/crime will always be around in a non fashistic state but there are people out there that dedicate their life to cleaning the streets and protecting the Republic. I agree that the Republic stories are not as good as the Imperial ones, but still I feel so drawn to classes like the Trooper and the Smuggler because they really show what the Republic is like without the Jedi.
  3. The short answer is that a lot of people would pick security over freedom.
  4. Imperial society is most definitely indoctrinated. You can also read in the journal that comes with the collector's edition that over a thousand years they built up from nothing, being survivors after the Republic and Jedi almost wiped them out. From the start each generation was taught that the Republic and Jedi wanted to annihilate them and almost succeeded and that they are rebuilding the Empire to take revenge, like how Malgus says in the cinematic. The Sith want Vengeance. Growing up in a militaristic society where every single person is part of the machine, it's "survival of the fittest" the strong make it to the top, the weak stay on the bottom or die. So from a young age Imperials are disciplined and ambitious. Not to mention they HATE the Republic and fear their Emperor and the Sith. When you pick up the Gree event and watch the holo news thing, it gives you a glimpse into how their media operates, it's kind of like CNN or the rest, you see what they want you to see. They have an agenda. They paint the whole gree spaceship as a hoax and a lie to keep the population in line.
  5. I don't honestly understand the attitude that the Sith code would make sense in every day life but the Jedi wouldn't. Every time someone brings that up the only thing I see is how bias most people are towards the Sith. Now to be honest I too like the Sith code better but everyone seems to take the jedi literally and the sith not. Why won't people look at the Sith code literally? Ever since the first time I've read the Jedi code the way I interpreted it was for example: There is no emotion, There is peace. (I've ALWAYS saw this as, control your emotions don't act on impulses/anger) If anything this one line is VERY much relevant in real life especially at a workplace where you might kind of want to kill your boss or tell him off but you don't because you control your emotions. I'm a very hot headed person and I don't follow it most of the time but I know I should because acting on impulses helps nobody and it only creates a negative effect on you and the people involved. Kind of like arguing with the GF if you will. There is no Ignorance, There is knowledge. To me this just means always seek to further your knowledge, A wise man knows that he knows nothing type deal. Don't be ignorant keep an open mind etc.. There is no Chaos there is Harmony. Stay cool, stay focused, chaos and disorder is unproductive, and the stuff Darth_Krushya said. There is no Death, there is the force. Kinda like what Valkorian said about us being more than our mortal shells, except on a different level not quiet over 9000 like him. Like when Yoda or Obi-Wan died, yes they died so you can't take it literally but their spirits lived on, became one with the force etc... The jedi code could easily pass as a real life code as much as the Sith can.
  6. Yeah but think about it...even without level sync it was just as easy, I remember doing all the end bosses for the different classes. It didn't even change you still faceroll through it except now it's a lower level. They were NEVER difficult or challenging. I've been playing this game since beta, and I'm only saying that because I've done all the class stories multiple times and even back THEN I never once said "Wow! Killing Baras was so awesome and challenging" It was always a faceroll no matter what.
  7. Do what I do, when people moan about spacebaring i dont even use chat, hell sometimes i hide chat. If they keep going I start typing to them in my language that usually gets them to stop if you aren't bilingual just stay dead silent that drives them mad.
  8. You guys ..... You all have tickets, but everybody knows you need to have the golden ticket to get a reply. There is one every month.
  9. Thanks for the reply, I downloaded the Nvidia update and I'm pretty sure everything is also updated so I will see about the sound thing for now...it sucks when you're bad with computers lol.
  10. I'm getting really frustrated I've tried so many things...My game was running fine and smooth, I upgraded to Windows 10 and now I'm getting this annoying effing pauses every few seconds like for a split second the picture and sound cut out making the game choppy and frustrating. I've made sure to update Nvidia too and I really don't know what else I can do. Can anybody help me out?
  11. I'm only level 38 on my Mercenary, but BH was the first story I did when the game first came out...Now my memory may be wrong but working for Tormen as I remember didn't really seem like optional. He even chokes one of your companions because you refuse to be disarmed when you enter his ship. He was just a pain to work with and a real A-hole as I remember. On the other hand the Chancellor seemed like a good man, an honorable figure so I went with the light side option and if you're into being a Mandalorian one of the options while talking to him and sparing him explains your decision and your mandalorian values. I believe the LS ending is more of a canon ending if you've played and stuck to being a Mandalorian and DS option is canon if you're all about the money and honor and such is not something you're interested in.
  12. I honestly hope we get to have the option to Kill Koth at some point. Everything rubs me wrong about his loud mouth behaviour, and he seems to instantly pilot and declare ownership of everything. The gravestone is mine I want to let him know his existence depends on my mood lol.
