  1. I returned a couple of months ago after a few years of not playing. Back then, I played a TK Sage as an alt and enjoyed it quite a lot. I haven't touched him at all since coming back because of the "Sages r trbl" threads I see everywhere. In 2.0 and prior, if a Sage got a proc for an instant cast TK Wave, he would immediately cast it but would still go through part of the animation as if it had an activation. The result was he would basically runaround with his arms in the air during the GCD. Did they fix this animation or does they still do that? I'm hoping they still do it...
  2. Agree. It's fairly easy before you put mechanics into it, and despite that I find it pretty fun. Even when you put mechanics into it (or just target switching), it gets really fun to me. And still strong.
  3. I have absolutely noticed the difference in the past week or so. Was wondering why actually! This, please, this.
  4. That was my thought as well. That being said, she's probably not going to play if I'm not playing (but that doesn't mean I have to be playing with her, I could be doing GC or something).
  5. Just wanted to give an update... this is probably more information than needed but I am enjoying writing it, so too bad! We have played a handful of times and she really enjoys it so far. No issues with the keyboard yet, but she's only really using about 5 abilities (hammer shot, grav round, full auto, mortar volley, sticky grenade). I only have one AC I haven't played before (Shadow), so I'm playing that. Needless to say, between both of us and two companions everything dies very fast so there's really not going to be a ton of advancement on the keybinding/rotation side until we start getting into heroics (because right now, she can just mortar volley or sticky grenade and that pretty much kills anything between whatever I do and the comps). So I am delaying heroics for now because we are both overleveled, but we're using the White Acute Module now so we'll catch up after we burn through a couple planets. All that said, she is using more than just one skill now, and seems to have grasped the concept of the GCD and concept of instant skills vs channeled vs skills with an activation time, and that's a huge improvement over mashing the key for explosive round 10 times in one GCD and telling me it doesn't always work. The most challenging thing she's facing is navigation, which was a surprise to me. I am sure I was like this at one point too. "Where did you go," "how do we get there," "how do you know where you are going" are very common questions and that's kind of foreign to me. Don't get me wrong, she has made big improvements in this area too, but still has a ways to go. One question. Do you think having her play some solo play would help her learn vs. playing everything through with me? So, we're on Coruscant now, just finished the Black Sun area. We have done story stuff only to this point (although we have been doing the Gree storyline of quests so far on Coruscant), and we also did Esseles, which she really enjoyed too - and that's great, because I really like Flashpoints in general. I used to run semi-hardcore ops a few years back, but if I can run some FPs now and then, I'll be more than happy. She was really tickled when she ran off the edge near Senate Tower too, which was amusing. Oh, and I wasn't sure when sprint would be available to her... because at level 10 it looked like something she could only buy with CC. We checked again at level 20ish and she found out she had it! That has made the game twice as enjoyable for her, and for me too (I had clicked sprint off so I wasn't constantly waiting for her to catch up).
  6. I always loved coming through the path in the woods on Tython, and seeing the Jedi Temple for the first time. I thought the game did a very good job sync'ing the music with that happening, and I was pretty impressed. I thought it would be a significant area in the game - which was wrong - but it was well done. Then it was all downhill from there! (Kidding... half kidding anyway. It really was a downhill walk to the Temple.) The first time downing the LR droid on Lost Island when that was still really challenging. I still like the Soa fight every time.
  7. Yes. You have to pay to have them as an option, and there's a cap on how many you can have (and some other quirks such as "when you originally select them they maintain that outfit/appearance forever until you re-enlist them")... but yes the option is there. The cost is either $10 for one, $30 for three, or $45 for eight. Eight is the cap. Edit: In GW, however, companions have access to almost the entire skillset that human players do. They function the same way (except they're AI), and the classes are identical. Companions are not like that in SWTOR, but I don't see why they can't just base the companion type on your alts' weapon type and go from there.
  8. It is for all. Source: playing a new character with my new-to-the-game fiancée who isn't a subscriber (at least not yet).
  9. Oh yeah, don't get me wrong - I don't think KOTOR2 is a better game or anything. But for whatever reason, that's the one I tend to load up when I feel that itch. I do use that mod though. It does help.
  10. Thanks very much for this thread - after returning from a lengthy absence I [wrongly] assumed that since gear didn't matter** anymore and all companions could play all roles, that all companions were virtually equivalent at all roles - or very close. I never would have give it another thought had I not stumbled on this thread. **I also found out that gear does matter a little bit - in that if the companions do not have a weapon equipped, they don't do any real damage.
  11. For whatever reason, I generally stick with KOTOR2, but that said... Personally I think it's aged pretty well. I still enjoy playing it which I'll do about once a year for kicks.
  12. I really enjoy Engineering. It's tough to min/max from what I understand, but generally I don't think it's that difficult to play. For leveling, I'd definitely go this route because I don't find the story part of the game to have a lot of enemies that move a lot. The AOE is great to have too. MM isn't the best spec right now, but it still works for everything. Actually, it's still the spec I play on my GS.
  13. For some reason I read that as "Beverly Hills Cop" the first time around. I was halfway to getting up to tell my boss I had to leave for the day and then I realized you said Robocop.
