  1. cant tell if troll or not? OP is pointing out an obvious flaw in the game design and their reward system. i believe the point was to strike up a discussion, not to pretend to be all knowing and powerful and act like you have the ability to change the 0-5 loss in 2 minutes.
  2. great post man. I agree 100%. between all the loading screens, orbital stations, story instances, group phases, etc. I feel very limited in what I can do and where I can go. I miss having options that are outside of 1 dark side choice, 1 light side choice, 1 pointless choice on a wheel for me. feels very single player. truthfully, i miss user created cities and RvR and truly OPEN world pvp. its not like pve is any better in this game though. the stories are extremely linear regardless of alignment choices and every boss except 1-2 is a tank and spank in my book. on top of that, id really like it if race meant something in this game. everyone is a humanoid and have identical powers (or lack thereof i should say). i feel like a cyborg should be different than a human which should be different from a chiss etc. with the tauntaun pets coming in now, its even more obvious that this game is wow in space. there is nothing in this game (except legacy) that wow doesnt have - and does better in fact. legacy just doesnt cut it for me though, as im not an RPer or have 7 alts. there is just nothing holding my attention at the moment. i force myself to log on to see the new changes but only get frustrated at them. i dont see myself staying even with the free month. unfortunate really as i was really excited to have an MMO that isnt fantasy medieval times.
  3. yeah man, with the current reward system just leave. no point in staying. in fact, like OP points out, there is LESS motivation than before. wait.... werent these changes supposed to make it so wed want to stay? how did they fail so badly at that. if i recall, someone foretold this would happen. cant find the thread where but he nailed it right on.
  4. if i understand the system as it is, i would argue that is dumb as well, yes. dont they force you to have a 400 biochem to use the reusable stuff from biochem? why dont they force the 400 on cyber to use the reusable grenades then too? if youre talking about consumable versions of those things then thats ok as anyone can use and buy them. that actually promotes an economy, which this game lacks as well.
  5. they are forcing us to roll alts (or purchase it... im assuming you can purchase as i havent looked yet) to get it. everything about legacy is an alt grind. for us that dont enjoy having every slot filled with pointless alts, it becomes frustrating. back to the purchasing things from legacy though, considering losing WZs no longer gives you credits, this is going to be a ***** to buy anything when pvping was your source of income. legacy things are expensive. when im making credits only when i win (even if i assume 50:50 win/loss), thats going to take much longer than if i were out there grinding dailies. its like they hate pvp or something... i know im probably alone in thinking this these days, but to me, this feels like a lazy way in "persuading" the player to play. similar to achievements/trophies on the consoles. were games boring before we had those? no. did we all play super mario bros multiple times without having to have some silly title for it on our gamertag? yes. why is it that devs these days look at these cheap "rewards" to extend game play instead of just making the game play fun to begin with.
  6. This has to be a bug. I noticed similar inconsistencies with xp in 1-49 bracket as well. I win a game get 0 xp I lose a game and get 17k I win a game and get 15k Granted I wasnt keeping track of my medals but I tend to get anywhere between 6-10 consistently. Very very rarely Ill get <6 or >10. I feel like something is not working as intended in terms of pvp rewards on a whole.
  7. spot on post. pvp is dead to me in this game. it's like BW only knows how to RP. the only things that legacy does correctly is for RPers. sadly, the rest of us just get annoyed. seems silly that this is the one thing that is allowed in pvp, considering you never get buffs after the initial spawn. got a free month, but doubt i will even stick around to try it. unsubbed. dont get me wrong, i didnt unsub just because of this, but this is one of many things that lead me to make that decision.
  8. Maybe frustrating was the wrong word haha. I guess I just can't relate as I usually try to make my characters the ugliest brutes of manly strength possible. I've made some ugly bastards over the years. hahahaha what these guys said! I think I'd break my ugly dudes rule if I could make an Antonio Banderas meets Mr. Fabio Suave character.
  9. welcome to the world on keybinding! I remember when I first made that jump. It'll be tough, but you'll get used to it and then you'll never look back. I'm not so sure I would listen to everything imanujakku says in that other thread though. I don't know why people think it's soooo awful to keep a key bound to move backwards. Just know when turning around and running is better and you're fine. I would also recommend against using ESDF instead of WASD as so many games (beyond just MMOs) use WASD that it might be a hard habit to kick if you start using anything else. Seems like a lot of pain to have to reset every keybind in every game you play from now on if you adopt that play style, but hey that's just my opinion. You also don't need a fancy 13 button mouse or G-whatever logitech keyboard. The way I currently have this game set up is as follows: I re-bound character sheet to I and kept inventory to B. I don't need 2 keys for my bags. I also re-bound left and right strafe to A and D respectively as turning is now done through the right click mouse button. This gives you a much faster turn time and frees up Q and E for ability keybinds. You might have to re-bind some stuff like guild window to unused keys on the right half of the keyboard, but that's ok as those are never used in heat of battle. Lower Bottom Bar: Z, X, C, V, F, G, H, Q, E, R, T, Y Top Bottom Bar: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, shift+ 1, shift+ 2, shift+ 3, shift+ 4, shift+ 5, shift+ 6 Right Bar: ctrl+ 1, ctrl+ 2, ctrl+ 3, ctrl+ 4, ctrl+ 5, ctrl+ 6, alt+ 1, alt+ 2, alt+ 3, alt+ 4, alt+ 5, alt+ 6. Left Bar: I put things that I don't use that often in this bar so I actually still click for some these. For others I use shift+ one of the letters in lower bottom bar. Things like speeder, quick travel, the class buff, the meditate skill, for some reason I keep my spring and saber stance in there too though you could argue I don't need to as those are always "on." Advanced Side Note: You should absolutely learn how to use focus targeting, something which is impossible to do with clicking. First enable focus targeting in options, then bind a key (I have shift+ F) to set your focus. Then set a focus modifier button (I have ~). Now everything you hold ~ and use an ability, it will automatically be used on your focus instead of your main target. Great for interrupting heals or managing adds or whatever.
  10. haha this is the first amusing thread I've seen in a while. I can see how it might be frustrating for female characters. My only question though is, does anything actually stop a light saber? In the movies they cut through ships and walls and just about everything with those things. I figured everyone in the SW universe wore skirts and dresses and silk hoods because it didn't really matter what they wore, a light saber will still tear your **** up, and that they might as well get the mobility boost in wearing lighter things. Metal can stop other metals (depending on the quality and hardness), but can metal stop light saber? Am I wrong here? If they covered those bellies up, I bet my saber could still cut them in half....
  11. This is a huge bummer. SWTOR is turning into WoW in space minus the balanced classes, interesting boss mechanics, and varied environments. But hey, at least we get new mini pets, an alt grinding incentive, and a broken pvp system that caters to neither casual nor hardcore. They are trying so hard to be like blizzard while still "standing out" that the things they copy from WoW are obvious and numerous while the things they take a stand against (macros and meters) or try to do new (legacy) just seem disappointing.
  12. I unsubbed a few days ago with around 40 days left in my current subscription (I did three months). There are way too many reasons and I've already posted most of them in other threads. I even took the time to politely and neatly explain everything in my survey so BW knows exactly what it will take to get me to come back.
  13. yes. if it came down to black and white (which it shouldnt) i would choose forced grouping over paying $15 for a single player game. this is the kind of mentality that has gotten mmos to where they are today. Where has all the sandbox gone? The user created cities/content? Where is the sense of community? Is community to you having a chat bar where people in green text can communicate? That's far far from where mmos started, but sadly where it's heading. Grouping shouldn't be a chore. It should be fun. Some of the best times in video games I've ever had were because of the PEOPLE I played with.... not the story line I was soloing by myself in separate instances.
  14. I don't want to start an argument about what skill is and how much time an mmo should take. I really don't. But to answer your question, I am not 10/10 on NM 16-mans. I wonder though if in the current state of the game, if anyone is. Maybe I'm just not in the IN as there are no websites that I know of that post such accomplishments for guilds to show of. I also wonder if that is that even possible with bugs being the only real form of difficulty? Truthfully, I see myself playing other games until 1.2 comes out. I will go in with high hopes of course, but if 1.2 isn't the Jesus patch they are hyping it to be, I will find other games until D3 comes out. Then I will "casually" play that game.
  15. Unfortunately I've made the same conclusion this guy did. I guess I never understood the real meaning of "casual" and that is my fault. I THOUGHT casual meant people that had limited time to play, but in REALITY it means people with limited skill to play. As everyone in the PvP forums knows, time =/= skill. This game is easy mode. The difficulty only comes in the form of bugs and poor game mechanics. I have 2 lvl 50s, I started playing a month and a half after release, and I play 2-3 hours a night (maybe a little more on weekends) with 2 buddies from my undergrad years. I understand that the lvling process is supposed to be the fun part, but rolling alts can only be entertaining for so long. I've given up on this game on my 3rd toon. Unfortunately this game isn't challenging in any way, and it doesn't look like it wants to be that kind of game. People give the whole "enjoy your panda lulz" argument, but truthfully... I can guarantee you that the panda will require more strategy than the current, "he'll CC left, I'll CC right, and she'll CC mid, then focus on remaining mob" this game offers. Either have a game that takes tons of time and little skill or little time and tons of skill. A game that takes little time with no skill leads to being boring rather quickly. I can get a more engaging time sink from other games out there, and that is exactly what I plan on doing. I have 52 days left on my sub. We'll see if I sign on again. I doubt anyone will read this, but I'm just so disappointed with the state of the MMO right now. On one hand, I want this game to do well as it does seem like people are enjoying it (good for them), but on the other hand, I want this game to fail so game developers learn that they can't take advantage of their "casual" fan base. Maybe I'm wrong but it feels like a WAR repeat. Release a crap game, make a quick buck, call it a day, move to next IP. I seriously doubt I'll fall for another one of these tricks.
