  1. Too many variables. Finding a random person with the same program on another channel at the same time. I think you would have better odds at winning lotto.
  2. I gave an example of another game I play-Titanfall- which has VOIP in the system already. Most people do not use it. You chopped up what I said. Balancing is on the GSF team to adjust. It will never been "100% perfect". I'm well aware of the the balancing problems since I've had to deal with them myself. This discussion is whether or not VOIP needs to be automatically into SWTOR. My response was no it doesn't. Stick to the script.
  3. I missed out on the Cantina tour last time around. Here's a short story. A few years ago, I visited the BioWare Base off-site for SDCC since getting a ticket is into SDCC is worse than the CA lottery (maybe I should just volunteer *shrug*). I got to meet some of the team who worked on ME2 and ME3. I remember I got to meet the writer of Thane's part in ME3 and one of the QA team members, amongst others. That was like 10 minutes of time and I remember it from 2 years ago. It's nice to give and receive face to face feedback to the people who work on or work with a game I really enjoy. I don't expect them to remember the conversation or even ideas I'd pitch. I can see how you view it as marketing. I think it is more outreach to the community that don't get to participate on the forums. They coincide with gaming events most likely to catch up with their peers who work at other studios and projects as well....Conventions....yeahhhh.
  4. Dude, my city is not the "outskirts". Psh. We had 10 fires happening at once. Glad there wasn't anything else going on last week. Downtown SD is always ridiculous during SDCC, but I'll chance it to come say hi to the SWTOR team. Anything with the SWTOR team happening at the BioWare base?
  5. Domination : What about all my kamikaze runs on a OP mine'd satellite? They don't count for much when my PUG just hovers around it's lone sat. I get more points defending than attempting to put a dent in a sat defense. Deathmatch : My PUG chases to the ceiling. End up losing because other team has one or more mastered ships. Also, mine walls and snipers do us in quickly. That's pretty much how it goes when I play.
  6. VOIP. No, thank you. It is hardly used in another game I play -Titanfall- and most people do okay without it. Situational awareness? Yes, please. Stop making "premades" the boogie man. Get a team together consistently and run with them.
  7. Has SWTOR matured? Yes, very much so. The BW Austin team has been doing a good job in listening and responding to their audience. I'm willing to forgive the disastrous, short-sighted view of when SWTOR was released. I would rather not compare the current state of SWTOR to the current state of other MMOs. I missed a big chunk of play time between the F2P decision, Makeb expansion, and the announcement of GSF.
  8. Same. I got excited for space PvP. At the time, I didn't know anything about guilds or OPs. It's not the rail space missions - Get rid of those please! -, it's PVP that I could enjoy. Well, I could enjoy for awhile until the full time GSF folks started mastering ships, coordinating teams, and wiping the PUGs I flew with quite often. The power balance shifted. I'm really looking forward to the double Requ points in June so I could start playing with other ships.
  9. Ah! Yeah. I missed that post. Thanks folks.
  10. I know we had a Rakghoul event at the beginning of the year, but have we had a Gree event yet? I'm posting this not as a 'C'mon BW!'. I know the team has focused their energy on their current projects. I know there are many of you who do a better job at keeping track of these sorts of things.
  11. Those two samples and the lightsaber sound like the pitch was turned way higher than the original sound and slapped "done". I'm all for different variants of sound, but just changing the pitch to a comically high level is not one I would suggest. In my opinion, I expect SW sounds to sound "beefy". More treble and bass and low end. The negative is, if the frequency is within a certain range it makes my head rattle with my headphones on. Then I can't play for hours and hours at a time.
  12. Yes, they were a huge balance issue. They always will be. Same with the other ships. Just 'cause the devs are not adding a new ship right this moment doesn't mean they are "abandoning it". I still haven't played the C&C ships yet and those were added like a month ago.
  13. True, things change. I'm stating from what I can recall from a dev stream less than a month ago. Calm down. This type of writing style is why I don't want to participate on the boards. It makes me feel like I'm getting a finger in the eyeball for being "incorrect".
  14. The team has already stated that gambling is off the table - pun -. It would change the TOS and the rating of the game. SWTOR has been my first MMO experience. Boy, it has been a high learning curve! I kinda got it now. I never was much into D & D type of storytelling as a child. It was all SW and G.I.Joes. Ha! The thing I have seen a lot of with fellow Americans, is a lot of of shouting at each other. Out shout someone to prove them wrong and you're right in an argument over apples and oranges or red apples vs yellow apples. It proves nothing. It does not make conversation. It does not improve the quality of work in the future. It seems to be just video games, really and I'm speaking about creative stuff in general not politics or news. I never have had to deal with a screaming match at a concert somewhere proving the guy on stage made a better 1st album than a better 5th album. I just know that the guy on stage is -typically- putting out the best he can do with what he's got. It's human nature to critic and improve on the last guy's works. Fracturing happens all the time. To not get into the habit of the "I'm right and you're wrong" mentality, turn off the chat unless you absolutely have to. I've got multiple tabs for chats -guild, FPs/OPs, gen chat- and I set it so I can't see gen chat. The "what went wrong at the start of SWTOR?" conversation is for another thread.
