When I left the game, about the same time you did actually, biochem was the only thing anyone put any value in. With so many people rolling and leveling new characters using the 12x experience boost however you can sell damn near anything for a kings ransom. I had spend some time researching up to purple gear for a few level range sets before I quit. Over the past two days I have made around 500k just selling the chest and bracer pieces. I literally dont know what to use the money on at this point other than buying other peoples over priced pieces to fill out my alts sets. Right now allot of people are doing cybertech for all the ...hell lets call em 12xTwinks.... using the orange gear. However the prices they are charging for each mod is so high people are just throwing whatever works on as they wont be in that level range for longer than a day, and seriously 20k for a blue armor mod is absurd considering you need 6 or 7 of em for a set that will last you two days tops. So ya, you can definitely make some money off it!

Another one of those "I'm returning and lost" threads

I am busy trying to get my sorc levelled as well. If i could make one suggestion that really helped me, start a new alt and re-learn a bit before digging into your higher level character. I had completely forgotten how this game worked and have played a number of different mmo's between then and now. I died numerous times because I kept trying to dodge attacks etc. I leveled an alt character up to about 20 (12x bonus) and that warmed me back up enough to not die every pull now. I am also finding that madness-->death field then going lightning made for a much more survivable spec for me. I did try pure builds but neither really worked for me. One other thing to mention, before I quit a couple years ago I was using a DPS companion and never seemed to have issues, now me and Khem Val have decided to give our relationship another chance (he is the best tank IMHO). Also check your gear, I had some pieces equipped that have gone up in level and were not giving me any benefit as now I was not able to equip them. Good luck and see you at the med center! -
Wow that last post was dickish...glad you listed all your characters in your sig so I can add you to ignore. Anyways... The fighter pilot stuff your given in the mail you can add mods too. Go cybertech and gather as you go, send you minions out as your dinking around in your citadel or ship etc, or walking from place to place. Seriously allot of travel in this game, it breaks up the monotony to have something else to do in between. Around 40 it does get a bit more gear dependent, and you will have to do some farming, but you are going to be doing that at 55 anyway for cash in between FP's etc so might as well get used to it. It's an MMO afterall, the difference between good and great is the freetime you have to waste.

I have a 45 sorc and just started playing 'sin recently. From what I can tell so far the assassin is just as much a glass cannon as the sorc, but has to do it at much closer range. Either way you are going to die a bit initially (>25) simply because you will have crap mitigation. On the plus side if Khem val can hold aggro off you and stay alive you can melt stuff fairly quickly. This all goes out the window if you have the pre-order x12 xp bonus. In this case the 'sin will be a cakewalk as you can sneak through to the class quests easily and just try to survive through whatever for that mission. No grinding required. Frankly having done most of them as a Sorc they do not get difficult till late 30's and mostly require allot of running around and fetch type quests. Get a speeder ASAP. I have also found artificing is really handy for standing around time for either class. I did synth on my sorc but unless your really lucky with your reverse engineering the quest dropped armor will always be superior to what you can make (granted this may have changed since I leveled him). Saber mods are a whole different story.

Hello, I am using Talos at the moment, I tried both standard stance and healing stance but I think its just button overload at the moment. The one thing that would help me the most is knowing when 'procs' occur, like chain lightning resetting cooldown etc. Still digging for info via google but everything I'm finding are obvious "strategy guide" scams.

Just returned to the game after a couple year hiatus and allot has changed (obviously). I played lightning spec up to level 45 before I quit. Now that I am back I picked what I think was the same spec I had before....and I am getting creamed by groups 2 levels lower than me. Granted allot of this is likely due to not remembering what buttons to hit in what order, and forgetting my bubble for the first 2 deaths, but I feel like there is something bigger I am missing. I have searched the forums and youtube for leveling guides but everything I am finding is either for level 1-29 or 55 raiding specs. Can anyone point me at a guide, or hell even basic tips for the not-quite-end game sorc? The ironic part is I originally got bored with the game because it was too easy.

I am still leveling (43 atm) but I tend to open up on anything but a group with a strong+ in it using force storm. I force storm dead center of the group which usually stuns the majority of the group, then once it has channeled fully I hit death field to finish them off. I "two shot" the majority of groups when soloing that way. If its a strong-strong or standard-strong group I hardcast chain lightning, then deathfield, then dot both targets (if there are still 2) to double my chances of a fast force lightning. Force storm is pretty useless when dealing with anything over strong as they cant be stunned by it and will simply interrupt it. Death Field on the other hand is useful no matter what due to the extra damage it adds to your dots. I actually have it mapped to my center scroll button push so I just put my mouse where I want it and tap tap. Honestly I wish the bloody thing healed me for more though, considering the points spent to get it. Then again they would likely have to nerf something else to balance that out so never mind

I am not near my comp but the skill that does the left to right sweep? That pretty much 100% replaced it for me. I think that if the cost was lowered quite a bit it might be useful but it is one of the most resource inefficient attacks in the game.

I tend to switch between Andros and Talos quite a bit, which honestly is a pain as i cant share gear that way efficiently. I use Talos for champions or elites and Andros for pretty much everyone else. At times I will get lazy, or high, and not want to pay much attention while I play. For those times I just keep Talos out. I am a hybrid myself and find that having Andros taking the initial aggro lets me get my FL proc off much more quickly and let loose a chain lightning while things are still mostly grouped up. The trick with the grenades btw works great (as mentioned above). I have them bound to the T key. You can move you companions skills around fyi so you can have your favorite skills hotkeyed on every comp. I really wish I could find a use for the er...jedi girl. I like her voice, she sounds like a girl i mountain bike with hehe. Problem is I actually have to heal her and the tanks far too often to really get much use out of them. The speeder trick only works outdoors in areas that allow for speeder use, which seems fairly limited usefulness. I haven't messed with Xalek yet but I am a synthweaver and have some great armor I will throw him in eventually.

It is great how it is actually. It might help you to bind it to a mouse key, I have it set to my primary "thumb button" as I use it every single cooldown at the moment. If your far enough into madness spec the boost this gives your dots is serious big mojo. I also like that I can center it between four or five spread out guys and tag all of them at once then tab/affliction spam for some really decent and quick output.

The only downside to madness that I know of is in pvp force lightning puts a giant target on you. Not as much of an issue if you end up in a huttball game with 4+ other sorcs, but if its a more BH or trooper heavy game your going to get melted even before the ball carrier sometimes. After hitting my early 30's I switched from madness to lightning spec for awhile and just found it too freaking cumbersome for leveling. It required a bit more attention to procs and I actually noticed the loss of my measly 1% heal from dot crits, had quite a bit more downtime between fights. I am starting to see the wisdom of the hybrid specs I am seeing on the boards now though.

[help] having a miserable experience with SYNTHWEAVING
danarchist replied to kevshootit's topic in Crew Skills
I ended up just gathering components and selling them slightly below whatever others had on the IGN. After I got a few purple components from mission "crits" I realized the big money is in finding how many "Arusteel" are needed to craft purple items and selling stacks of them at a good profit. Had my speeder money and lots extra by 25. -
Healing works great for troopers as our first companion is one of the best comp dps'ers in the game. It also makes it incredibly easy to find flashpoint and heroic groups which i get a real kick out of and breaks up the monotony of grinding quests. Not to mention even at low levels you can earn quite a bit doing pvp and just healing people.

I am not sure about hard numbers but one thing I can tell you is the mechanic is a love it or reroll type thing. Depending on spec and AC you likely will be going into cover for every stinking fight. Every day I played my gunslinger it got more and more irritating. Not because I hated the mechanic that much, but I would commonly end up "dive rolling" to some cover position I hadn't noticed and on numerous occasions agro'ing another group. There are specs and ac's that do not use cover as much or at all though, I think saboteur is more of a run and gun style. A coworker told me there was a way to only use your own cover and not see those stupid silhouettes anymore. I actually came to the boards looking for how to do that
