  1. Strong mobs are hitting like trucks compared to what they used to do, so it's not just you. Shadows/Sins came out very well with 3.0 changes, so no need to worry about the class. I'd suggest using a healing companion and just being a bit more cautious when you come across strong mobs. The content has been "re-balanced" with the new end game gear in mind, so there will be some adjustments for a while.
  2. Orbital had already been nerfed (and nerfed hard at that) now they go and remove it outright for ops and scoundrels as well as explosive probe. Someone on the dev team seems to have decided that 3.0 was going to be about screwing ops and scoundrels over
  3. With the exception of Sorcs and Sages, Shadows and Sins have come out the strongest for pvp from the new expansion. Once you get up in levels you'll probably notice the shift again, just wait...

feel free to go and update "old posts" with an expiration date if you feel they're magically not valid for comment.

    buff madness sins

Quite a funny thing for someone with "deception sin" as their sig to go and say
  6. Still a bit early to tell yet, but the general consensus I've been hearing from the people I play with is that shadows and sins have been over buffed whilst ops/scoundrels are a bit boned. I can't speak too much for concealment as my op is heal spec, and I'm currently testing the changes out on that. Will obviously need some time for the dust to settle before numbers come to back anything up, but that seems to be the situation so far...
  7. Difficult to explain it completely if you aren't familiar with weapons. To put it plainly though, when it comes to melee weapons, the simple designs are the most effective, and the basic rule is, reach is your friend. Which is why in both western and eastern martial arts, polearms are a superior choice to things like swords (aside from being cheaper to produce) The double bladed lightsaber is it's own worst enemy because it limits the possible movements of the person wielding it, which would make it easy for the person fighting you to predict your attacks. The only possible means to avoid such a limitation would be to leave one end "sheathed" so to speak, until a sneaky opportunity to suddenly deploy it mid fight possibly presented itself. That and maybe in a release from a blade bind, using the opposite end for a quick strike. Another way to understand some of it's limitations is to take a close look at the choreography of the Maul vs Qui Gon and Obi Wan fight. Anytime they're both striking at him at the same time, it's always one striking high, the other striking low, and at the exact angle where the other end of his double bladed lightsaber is pointed. Reason being, the double bladed lightsaber is fixed at the middle, which means if Maul is blocking a high strike from one, it's impossible for him to block a second strike anywhere at the same time, unless the second strike is directed in the area where the other end of his lightsaber is pointed whilst blocking the first attack. So in other words, if they hadn't worked so hard to choreograph the fight in such a way to hide the gross limitations of the weapon, it would have been painfully obvious how short that fight should have been. If he was simply duel wielding single lightsabers he wouldn't be limited like that, because the design of a standard sword doesn't have the kind of limitations that come with a double bladed weapon. Also, think about our weapons history. The Sith/Jedi are basically space knights/samurai and the lightsaber is their sword. A weapon inspired from an actual historical tool of ancient war. No where in history however do you find any warriors (in either the east or west) using a double bladed sword, and it's not through lack of imagination, as they exhausted every reasonable idea for practical designs on how to kill each other. It's simply not a practical design for someone to use in an actual fight. You might also like to watch this video to help understand it a bit more https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPXOOKEnvoQ Obviously this doesn't mean much in a film, and as you pointed out, it still looks cool. But if a very impractical weapon like the double bladed lighsaber is going to be part of the movies/story, there's no reason not to use something that actually has practical design elements like a cross guard lightsaber.
  8. Well yes, even I will admit the double bladed lightsaber looks cool. It is however the definition of a geek weapon, it looks awesome but it's about as practical as a chocolate teapot.
  9. I imagine some of you have seen this already, but sharing for those who haven't. It's a good laugh (whilst also being a 'sad because it's true' look at it) Enjoy....
  10. Errr...what? You're honestly against a lightsaber with a cross guard, when the Star Wars universe contains the single most retarded weapon (double bladed lightsaber) they could ever introduce to the films
  11. Er what? So it has two weapon types, big deal. The damage from missile turrets isn't that impressive, particularly against upgraded ships. Even a fully upgraded missile turret isn't that powerful. Right, so you wan to take away one of the few things it has going for it? Missile turrets are easy to kill, like the other turrets, and don't hit any where near as hard as player ships. The auto lock on feature is what makes them viable. Considering the long lock on time they have, that's hardly an imbalance. Lol, ok now I know you've got to be joking Even an upgraded turret with the extra hit points and armour doesn't take much to kill. The reality is they are very easy to destroy, maybe even a little too easy, especially given the cool down timer before they can be deployed again. So yeah, basically you just want them to be lumbering piles of junk that can't actually do anything.
  12. I can't believe this is a serious thread A well placed ion missile will typically wipe out all the mines in an area the bomber is trying to control, not to mention virtually wreck even upgraded drones. Drones are annoying, but they are far from game breaking. Bombers have been a God send to gsf as they have broken up what used to be nothing more than a Gunship fest. At least now you actually see a more even spread of ships being used, particularly as more players are becoming adept at using scouts and strike fighters to counter bombers.
  13. Well, Mr too lazy to read the posts in the thread he's decided to post in. Under the now obviously mistaken belief that Bioware would have made her at least partially worth the hefty 1 million credit fee by giving her the ability to provide a once off +10 presence buff to characters in your legacy. Thankyou for displaying how far up your own colon your head is lodged at the moment. See bellow for more details... Actually, no. That's not correct. What you wouldn't get is the other passive boost that comes from reaching max affection with each companion class type. You do get a once off +10 presence for EACH different companion at max affection. I know because I have all fou base class types on both factions with max'd out affection.
  14. 90%...good to see you're not exaggerating. It's no better at healing than the healers, so it sure as hell doesn't replace them, and most of the players I know, myself included, tend to roll with either a heal or dps companion. Occasionally maybe a tank. So enjoy your pointless companion, just don't expect the same level of needless excitement from me.
  15. woohoo. No really, stay there, let me go find some fireworks and streamers...
