  1. Well advised. We appreciate this type of 'notice' and information. Even 'bad news' is better than no news. So I hope these responses encourage you guys to try and keep us, as a whole, in the 'loop', so to speak. Well done,
  2. ^^ I like this. It isn't THAT easy I'm sure, but good way to put it. I like SWTOR. Though WoW couldn't 'hold' me.. so I can't argue here with that same bias. EQ1 was the only thing that held me and that can be attributed to a 'first time' experience thing. Not that I do. I personally think the game is right where it needs to be, and IS where it IS regardless of what we say. I think what will make or break it's *Home Run* type of success is the speed at which the developers generate content, fix problems, and so on and how quickly them implement it. Further they have to make *MOSTLY* the right decisions while doing all of this. I don't think there is a simple follow step A, B, C, and so on way to make a major league MMO. I feel people think it is this easy, and it just isn't. I believe there are intangibles that we just don't even realize that make up for the success or lack thereof. Time will tell.
  3. Is it just that I'm an idiot or? Where is a search function? Where is a Technical forum, to ask each other about issues on , well, technical issues? No offense, but 99% of the time I've always been able to help others and get the same in return on Tech forums than from 'tech support' from the game. It's cheap, nearly free. Why not? So, Search (where is it?) And a Tech Forum (where is it) ? Right now, my issue is , is there any way to get Crossfire to work with this game? Currently it does not by default. I've tried the 12.1 Review drivers with profile, and no go. Which is my intent on looking for Search function, which led me to Tech forums, which then led me to this post asking why/where? Thanks!
  4. I'm asking, those who know the abilities by name, and know what they are talking about with efficiency. What do you recommend in an order for other sentinels to 'try out' for routines of abilities? IE: Zealous Strike, Cauterize, Strike, Merciless strike, strike.. etc etc.. What orders do you go in. I know there is focus build, some variation on Cool downs, but even with those included. Group it up some. Like abilities with less than 3-5 sec cool downs, how many times and in what order do you press them in a PVE environment, what stances , what other longer CD abilities do you press first, and why? I'd like to really know what some of you who really have the efficiency and are truly GOOD at this class have figured out! It would help us all. I am feeling it out,.. but I still know I'm not doing it 100% efficient. Listing them, in a number format, .. even repeating the abilities as needed in say a 10 button strike would be neat. Thanks for anything you can contribute. *Yes I've read the other guides. Take care,
  5. ** Edit -- I see polls are not in General. I assume they are in the 'poll' section alone. So we improvise and just state your level(s) instead I suppose. What range are you in, level wise, with either your main, your average of characters, etc. I personally have been enjoying all the content, and not missing much of any quest at all , adding in Heroics, Flashpoints, and so on.. Plus just messing around I am 19 pushing 20. So nothing really high. But that is fairly casual play, with a fair amount of hours but nothing like some I've seen streaming etc. The game still has strong appeal to me. How about you with level, and how's it going? I'm positive with this,... not trolling, just hoping for an up spirit thread on launch night for a change. Thanks for voting,
  6. lol I do as well. I know the NPC he is talking of. On Coruscant, near Justicars I think. She just looks like an Anime Faced (with big eyes) pre-teen (13ish) -- that is over developed. That said,.. there is nothing WRONG with it. That is like saying all developed 12 year old girls are 'wrong' and should be covered. Get over it guy.
  7. Epic fail? Maybe not epic. OP: I like your spunk and ambition , trying to help people who don't have the game yet... However, I think it is quite evident the Star Wars , Bioware, and George Lucas name combined is all it takes to 'hook' the people. The game being great will 'reel them in'. They are millions large already,... I suspect some greater than 50% of those who pre-ordered will stay after the first month, and some X amount will pick the game up off the shelves as time goes on due to the aforementioned 'names'.
  8. Many people care. Do I care? No. Does it matter that *I* don't care.. Nope, not to anyone but me really. I will say "Congrats", but that is about it. Does it make me mad, or cause me to think of some hateful remark to make 'me' feel better about myself, and him feel , potentially, worse about his accomplishment (and life)... Not one bit. Good job. Guys, Ladies, Everyone has dreams, goals,.. small to large. This is one of those small goals. This person, decided he wouldn't sleep (or get very little I suppose) until he hit level 50 in this video game. He accomplished this goal. My goal was to have fun today in game. I am level 13! I had fun, I accomplished my goal to! Is either one of us 'greater'? No. We both accomplished the goals we set out to, and therefore we are BOTH successful. It is all about perspective. In this case, it is a video game. As such, success is weighted quite differently depending on the unique individual playing. There is no right and wrong, no good or bad, no cool or uncool,.. these are arbitrary opinions of a unique status based on a persons UNIQUE thoughts. Think about it. I hope you/we all have succeeded so far in this game, whatever our goals may be. Take care,
  9. Bump -- For all who are concerned with server queues -- please take the time to read my post in response to these queues a few above this one. Addendum: This is a dynamic process, it isn't static. Have some patience, it takes time. Just as the process to monitor server processes by the Network administrators takes time, so does the fluctuating population numbers take time to actually come to a meaningful LONG term result. Right now the numbers are in such a state of flux that discerning any real useful, LONG TERM, data is very difficult , if not impossible to do. -- Thus, trying to not add too many servers, as aforementioned, to keep the game viable (sustaining life!) is an incredibly difficult job that comes with the unfortunate side effect of having to be imperfect. With imperfection comes a period of server wait times and queues. To put this in "Star Wars" terms. This is for the greater good. I'm sorry, for this one you'll have to believe in the "Jedi Code", to do what is necessary for the greater good over the LONG TERM. If we have to deal with queues for a week, two weeks, a month or three months to have years of healthy server populations,.... Isn't it worth it?
  10. Understandable -- It is a game, and it is entirely your choice, within your power to not play and do something else. Even play another game if you wish. There are many recreational activities, pass-times for human beings to do, to well, pass time and ultimately 'enjoy' it.. aka: Have fun. Waiting in a queue, especially if you stare at it while waiting.. is far from fun. I don't say this to insult you, just stating the obvious of course. The game is great in my opinion and I am enjoying it as a pass time now. No, they are not empty -- but it is silly to argue semantics on servers that don't list numbers but list Light, Medium, Heavy and so on to represent arbitrary numbers we can only guess at. Further, The United States is in a different geographical location on the globe, on planet earth, and as such has sunlight from the rotation of the earth at different relative times than people in Europe. Again observations. So, it would be possible the low server populations in contrast to the US servers has to do with this phenomenon of the earths rotation during a 24 hour period. Think so? Also, I would also estimate that given that Star Wars is arguably the most popular US Film Enterprise, this game was created within the United States, and somewhat marketed here,.. that it would be most popular in,.. The United States. Therefore, with logic, it would surmise that the heaviest population would be,... In the US Servers. Especially when the Earth rotates in such a manner that people are awake, in the United States of America. There are quite a large number of servers and I don't quote the exact number of servers because they are adding new servers on a fairly consistent basis, as such, the number may be incorrect at any moment. Again, I have to refer to the above logic. Now, no one likes to wait. I don't like to wait in line at department stores, or even at restaurants. However, queuing is a fact of life. An hour, two hours, or even three is a LONG wait. I agree. At this time these waits do exist within this game. This was told to us. It was communicated, and was expected. They have the money and resources to add as many servers as necessary. YES, they can reduce the queue times to virtually zero with enough servers. However, this would *hurt* the game in the long run. Which is the overly simplified reason they are not adding so many servers to eliminate queues. At this point in time the game hasn't even launched, officially. However a HUGE bulk of the population is playing the game, because a huge bulk of those who wanted to play this game.. have ordered (pre-ordered) it. Bioware did a great job in allowing millions of people to have at minimum 4 days of play time. This was/is an incredible feat. I know it is difficult to accept that you will have to deal with long queues in the mean time for the greater benefit of your server over the long term. However, it is a scenario and situation that , as I said, you can actively choose NOT to participate in. You can choose to wait to play the game, perhaps, in a month. When queues may not even exist, and if they do, will be quite lower. They will further tweak the capacity of servers (this is when the queue activates), and the amount of 'new' servers through next week and as necessary to accomodate the millions of people who play the game. They know what they are doing. This is the twist. As such, they know that providing just enough servers now, and not TOO many, will cause queues but as the initial pre-launch and launch 'RUSH' dwindles down; The true longer term base of subscribers for the servers will emerge. With these numbers, they will know just how many people will be playing the game more than 7 days, 2 weeks, a month and so on. The numbers WILL drop some. They always do. This isn't to say the MMO won't have a growing subscriber base over the years,.. just that the simultaneous users at the current moment will drop. With this knowledge from all the MMO's that have launched in the past, they will allow healthy server populations over the long term. The above statement is incredibly important for the subscribers long term game play. If they did just as you want them to do now, and added enough servers to virtually eliminate queues -- there is a possibility, probably a high possibility, that after this 'rush' the numbers will dwindle. As they do, the servers would need to, in time, be migrated together. This causes subscribers to lose faith in the product as they are in "ghost towns" , so to speak. As subscribers lose more faith in the game, they stop playing, and on goes this cycle of failure. This process has happened to many MMO's. Some have managed to do enough damage control after this (creating too many servers) to turn a profit and stay alive, but know they could have done things a bit differently and likely had a much different result in terms of net subscribers. Some REALLY great games have low subscriber counts,.. why? Because of logistics like the above. What we, as players, have to do... Is trust that the company knows what it is doing. Their interest , first and foremost is monetary. Of course, they are a business. But in order to make this money they have to please the customers, as this is PURELY a customer oriented business. So they aren't allowing these queues to make you mad, and LOSE money. They are hedging their educated logistics (and server deployment) on what they deem to make them the most money in the long term. This also means , in other words, what will cause the MOST people, to be the HAPPIEST, over the longest period of time. I hope you, and others with similar arguments (which are quite sound and reasonable), understand this part of the equation. Take care,
  11. I'm surprised this thread didn't go any further. It would be nice to know how long one has. But even better to know of any programs or ways to stay logged in, if you say,.. went to use the bathroom or did something for 10 minutes and it was primetime with an hour or three queue wait time. Thoughts? Thanks,
  12. Thank you for adding at least one post on the side of 'common sense and decency (and logic)'. That said, people are going to complain regardless of what Bioware does. It is human nature. The level of complaint has dropped dramatically because everyone is IN the early access now. There are queues, there are real reasons why they ALLOW those queues which I've explained in other posts, which ultimately are to preserve a healthy server population LONG term. These queues are NOT a surprise and were even announced. It is not because EA/BW doesn't have the money to add more servers. Those are the facts. In the mean time we have to deal with the queues. They won't exist for more than a few weeks or so at best. I'm sure they will be tweaked each day as the game goes on, especially following the first few days of official launch. Alt Tab out guys -- do something else online for however long your queue time is. It goes by faster than you realize.
  13. This part, the queues and server numbers are NOT a part of greed. Believe it or not, this is to help both them and US, the players, in the long run. There is always an initial 'surge' of players with launch (including Early access). This novelty, if you will, surge will last weeks, to a month or more. The consistent player base will then dwindle to it's definitive , consistent, level. Which is, most of the time, LESS than what it was initially. So, leaving the queue times for a short period is working on the that concept. To NOT create too many servers where a month from now the servers need to be combined because X percent of people dropped off as is expected. They want to keep a Healthy Server Population on every server. This includes for the future. I Know right now it seems like they are cramming too many people on each server,.. but in reality they are just planning for the long term. I am in a queue that is an hour long.. and it is TRULY an hour long.. been waiting for over 30 mins and still have 300-400 to go. I expected this, .. why did I expect this? Because they told me to expect it. Does it make me exuberant to have to wait.. of course not. But I just alt-tab out and do other stuff while waiting, go eat, and so on. In the LONG RUN, the queues will not remain like this. If the server population GROWS over the next few weeks, they will continue to add more servers and tweak the caps -- to lower the queue times. It is a very dynamic process in nature, and they are doing things as they should. MANY, many other MMO's have launched and made the mistake of reacting too quickly to 'burst' server population and created too many servers. Which has a domino effect later of people losing faith in the MMO because they see servers being combined, aggregated and so on.. which leads to an ultimate failure. There are STILL servers that due to their names, and so on have no queue, or VERY short queues. If you are a person who has literally zero patience for queues, I would highly recommend creating a character on such a server. I promise it will get better, and this is not for no reason and certainly not to just aggravate the player base. Take care, QQ? Yea, paid $60 as a college student.[/color]
  14. I think the difference here is just does one use Logic, is one capable of using logic, vs. Not.
