  1. That is amazing man, thanks a lot! My loading times have reduced, FPS has increased on the fleet, lot less stutter and less textures popping too late. Plus it was a breeze to install and activate with your unleashed program. Kudos! Bioware should include something like that in the game itself. P.S. I'm using the new beta release, and I had no problem with missing UI settings or anything else.
  2. To be fair, I'm not sure how that constitutes a valid argument. If people feel its wrong not to receive stat points increases, they can continue to play the normal PvP mode, while other people can enjoy the skill-based system alongside. Yeah that's more serious problem ... Maybe each player in skill-based PvP could be awarded a certain number of points (similar to the ability system), and he can decides how much he wants endurance vs. his other primary skill on one side, and how much power/crit/surge/etc. on the other. This way you can have customization while keeping everyone on the same playing field. That or simply: people who wants customization can play the normal PvP mode, while the others would have to sacrifice this aspect of gameplay while playing the skill-based system. Once again, the idea is not to remove a system that many players like, but to add another one alongside to include more people and preferences.
  3. Concerning the "go play Guild War instead": thanks, I might have a look at that game later on, but right now I enjoy playing SWTOR and I'm simply looking to have a discussion on how to improve this game (or why I'm wrong and it's fine for most players) KBSIP, thanks for the napkin maths. Ok, in several weeks, playing 4 hours/weeks, I'll be able to afford the BM set (which is only an intermediary set now). Could you now calculate how long it will take me to afford the War Hero set with the current rewards? The answer will probably several weeks or maybe months. When I reach that point, a new top tier will be out . That's my point, a sizable proportion of the player-base will always be somewhat undergeared, while it doesn't appear to be a necessity for a healthy PvP system. I'm not saying it's the end of the world and that I will quit, simply that there might be room for improvement and more skilled-based PvP in a new mode existing alongside the previous one. Once again, I understand the need for gear progression in PvE, but nobody here really made the case for the importance of it in PvP (except by saying Bioware will never allow it, which isn't an argument to begin with) Cheers
  4. Concerning the comments telling me to get another game if I can't play enough to get a battlemaster set quickly, I must say I am surprised to be considered like some kind of anomaly. I might be wrong, but I am under the impression that a sizable proportion of players are neither awkward teenagers nor unemployed with too much time on their hands. A lot of people cannot or will not spend several hours to play each day. Yet, we still pay 15 bucks each month That being said, I am willing to believe that the battlemaster set is easy to acquire. Yet, it is only an intermediary set; once I get it, a lot of my opponents will already be in war hero gear. And when I get there, a new set will already be in game. Even if the expertise difference is small, it is the realization that the odds are always against you that is a bit annoying. I'm already doing pretty good in terms of numbers and medals in PvP at the moment, the problem is the knowledge that some people, with more time on their hands, will always have an advantage. On the flipside, what exactly is the problem of a skill-based PvP system in a MMO? I can understand why gear progression is needed in PvE (AI isn't getting any better over time), nobody explained to me why this is needed in PvP. Why not make it free and fair and let the most skilled win? Isn't that better for everyone? Is it just because without progression players would have less incentive to continue to play? Many PvP games are skilled-based and people continue to play them. Rankings and vanity stuff appears to be enough to sustain player's interest. In any case, why not having both system to satisfy a larger pool of players?
  5. I'm not convinced that the "majority of players" will shy away from skill-based PvP because they would somehow realized that they are not that good. I'm under the impression that the opposite should happen. I have no particular talent for PvP myself. Yet, I don't really mind being defeated in a fair and balanced fight where I know my opponent won because he is more skilled than I am. What is frustrating is to be defeated while knowing your opponent had a clear advantage because of his gear. Maybe he would have won anyway without that advantage, but knowing that you always play with a disadvantage is a bit annoying. The only clear loser of a skill-based PvP system is a very bad player who has a lot of time to grind gear to get an edge. Everyone else, bad players or good players, could still have fun if we remove gear from the equation. Yeah I would keep commendations in that system, it's still nice to have a gear progression, even if only cosmetic.
  6. Here is my problem: I am a casual gamer, with few hours to PvP each week. It means that it takes me months to acquire the best gear, and at that point there is probably a new tier released by Bioware anyway. I don't mind lagging behind in PvE, the content is not going anywhere and I can progress at my own rhythm. The problem is, with the current PvP system, I'll always be disadvantaged against a sizable portion of my opponents in warzones because they have better gear. So, I'm throwing an idea here to discuss: why not include a new skill-based mode alongside the existing PvP mode? Simply remove all gear influence, and give the same amount of endurance, primary skill and expertise to each player joining a warzone in this mode, and let them have fun. Players can choose, before they queue, if they prefer the skilled-based or gear-based system. I can't see how that would be difficult to implement. The main problem could be a division of the player pool and the resulting longer queues. But if this mode was added together with a cross-server queuing system, it shouldn't be too bad. What do you think?
  7. Same problem here. We killed the three bosses with a 16 men team. A few people received the title, the rest didn't. No apparent correlation with the other steps already achieved for the event.
  8. I was doing fine as a pvp healer before 1.2, and I am doing fine now as well.
  9. Hi there, I just discovered that I re-engineered a bunch of orange items in vain, because for some reason there is a 0% chance to learn new schematics on the majority of pre-1.2 orange items. So, before I start spending time and money trying to get myself some orange gear with augment slots, I need something cleared out: Is there any chance to have critical success when crafting orange items from my pre-1.2 schematics (that already produced orange gear)? Or will it only be possible with the new 1.2 schematics ? Thank you very much
  10. Wouldn't there be a way to show high resolution textures ONLY ON OUR OWN CHARACTER (and maybe companion), and show medium resolution for the rest? This would already be a big improvement in my mind.
  11. As said in the title, I would like to preview a lightsaber hilt before buying it. Is there any way, ingame or not, to see a bigger picture of the hilt than just the item icon? Thanks!
