  1. Honestly I would recommend sith warrior, I've played both classes and finished their story lines and feel that you have more opportunity to play him how you want; you can be a brute or you can play it smart, your choice. Whereas with the inquisitor, to me at least, felt like he should be yelling "UNLIMITED POWAH!!!!!" all the time. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed both story lines immensely, just for different reasons. I found a surprising lack of subtly in the inquisitor and more of it than I would've expected in the warrior (not sure how much you know so I don't want to spoil the details)
  2. What I think would be neat is something like this person describes Basically the ships would primarily be used for ship vs. ship fights where like some people control turrets, some people are on damage control, some fly smaller fighters, some have a more tactical view and can give orders, etc. That way guild communication would be just as, if not more important than size.
  3. WoW also doesn't have a system in place that rewards you for having multiple characters that you concentrate on as opposed to a single main character, so there is no reason for someone to want to send all of the characters on a server to another server. Bioware has instituted a system like that, so should a person be punished for choosing to use that system? Obviously it should not cost the same to transfer a whole legacy as a single character but maybe cutting the price 75% for more than 6 and 50% for the full 12 (just throwing out an example, no idea what price per character this works out to) with the requirement that all characters being transferred have completed chapter 1 of their class stories seems like a fair trade as the level requirement would prevent abuse (oh boy, all I need to do is level 2 brand new characters into their 30's to get the full discount, suckers!). And you can't make money off of something if it isn't selling. It would seem like Bioware would rather sell 100 products at $100 than 25 products at $240 (once again. just making an example)
  4. how about for the android version they fix it so the numbers stay yellow. Currently the numbers are yellow (and visible) after I restart my phone, but after the first time using the app the numbers turn black and are hard to pick out from the background
  5. The class stories are what attracted me in the first place and what, in my mind, separates swtor from other mmo's. If they come out and say that they will not be continued then I'll probably stick around for a bit, finish leveling alts and maybe try my hand at raiding; but after that there is really not much keeping me around. Each mmo has something that they do better than other mmo's and for me swtor's asset is story; If I wanted endgame raiding content I'd go back to WoW, if I wanted a better PvP experience then Elder Scrolls Online is looking extremely promising. Swtor's focus on individual class story-archs is (to my knowledge) unique and the main reason I'm paying money to Bioware right now intsead of Blizzard
  6. just wanted to clarify this real quick, from my experience leveling a tank VG (I've been inactive for a bit so I may not be up to date on any recent changes they have made) while a majority of attacks appear to originate from your rifle, not all of them make sense coming from your rifle (i.e. pulse cannon. since when does a rifle fire lightening bolts in a 10 meter frontal cone?), and unfortunately those are the attacks that you seem to spam. not sure if all specs are like this though, I have only played as a tank.
  7. I feel the exact same way about the class; I want to play a trooper. but the class doesn't quite feel like I'm playing a trooper due mostly to aesthetics. As to what Zunayson said about damage types I believe what the op is saying (correct me if I'm wrong, I make no claims at being a mind reader) is that just because an attack deals tech damage, doesn't mean that the attack's animation needs to look like it's a tech attack if it doesn't fit with the class. Take pulse cannon for example, the current description of the ability is something like: Sprays waves of ionizing energy at targets in a 10-meter cone, and it looks like you turned your gun into the most dangerous Jacobs ladder* imaginable. Instead why cant it just be someone firing his gun in a 10 meter cone and have the description say something about "calibrating your rifle so the bolts create a thermite like reaction on impact, however due to the increased energy requirements these rounds only travel 10 meters" or some other sci-fi sounding BS that fits the damage type. As for PvP, player animations historically never been a good indicator of what type of damage that attack does, and the only time you see that animation is when the attack is happening, by which time the damage numbers would have probably told you what type of damage your taking. I know aesthetics are normally considered low priority but if i'm gonna play a class for likely hundreds of hours, I would like to feel like I'm playing that class; meaning if the class has a gun which they are supposed to use, they actually use it as a gun. I get that there's only so many ways to fire a gun, but I would settle for firing at all: I remember while leveling my vanguard (tank) I would find myself forcing full auto and the basic attack into my rotation way more than they should have been because those were the only attacks (to my recollection) that actually involved the blaster shooting something which looked like it would come out of the barrel of a blaster rifle. * https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_voltage_traveling_arc#Visual_entertainment GENERAL PURPOSE DISCLAIMER: I am not attacking any individual poster with this comment, this is simply my way of contributing to a conversation. I realize to some that me focusing almost solely on their post may seem like a personal attack however it is not personal, if I do this it is usually because that particular post most concisely/clearly showcases the argument which I am supporting/opposing/adding on to. Once again, this is not a personal attack so please do not take it personally.
  8. As many people have said, just because you're on the empire doesn't mean you have to be the typical, puppy kicking, insane villain. There is a surprising amount of choice as far as morality goes in this game. Also, I don't know if everyone can do this or if it's one of my quirks but I just factor myself out of the equation and focus on what my character would do while I play. Would I torture a random person on the street because he looked at me the wrong way? of course not. My sorcerer would because he's insane, my juggernaut wouldn't because it serves no purpose, my mercenary wouldn't because he saves fighting for people who actually put up a challenge, and my sniper wouldn't because he isn't a jerk. Just separate your personal morality from your characters and ask yourself what they would do and why.
  9. From reading the thread it seems that the trinity system is not going anywhere anytime soon, however, it certainly does need to be changed. Perhaps the solution is to knock out the dps role completely and standardize dps across all group pve encounters. This is something that I thought up in 2 minutes so it's far from perfect, but what if we made encounters based on time and not damage; ie like a dot on the boss that ticks for some standardized amount every second the group is alive and in exchange a dot is put on the group for however long the boss stays alive. Instead of dps we add roles that help control these dots in different ways (how fast they tick, excluding 1 person from damage for X seconds, focusing all dot damage on one person for X seconds, etc.) This way the mindset shifts from "I can make bigger numbers pop up than you" to helping the group stay alive the longest. Once again, this is a very rough draft and definitely needs more thought put into it but it seems like the best of both world; the trinity is still present, but it is much more flexible than it currently is.
  10. I'm trying to find an assault cannon similar to the one in the return trailer (aka intro cinematic) for my trooper, anyone seen anything close?
  11. Really, no one has any idea what abilities take priority on a vanguard while leveling?
  12. I haven't played my vanguard for a long time and I've been wanting to start leveling him again. However, I cant seem to find any builds or rotations for the 1.3 patch. It seems that shield spec is the preferred leveling spec at the moment but can someone please show me a specific build and a rotation to use that spec with? My vanguard is level 19 at the moment. The build doesn't have to be shield spec but please include a rotation or priority list or something to go along with it.
  13. Where do the TD-17A Imperator boots come from? I haven't even been able to find a picture of the dam things! I have the whole set except for the hat, boots, and the gloves. gloves aren't as big of an issue because the light side vendor sells gloves that fit and the head item doesnt really fit with the rest of the set so I'm gonna leave it out but I haven't been able to find any boots that fit at all
  14. Well my first character I rolled was a vengeance jugg, I got him to 23 before I started rolling alts, now I want to level my jugg but I have absolutely no idea what abilities to use or what talents I was going to get (I do remember wanting to stay vengeance till I hit the last talent though). so what abilities should I be using which companion should I normally have out, etc.
  15. well, what I did was roll a pureblood, took off the collar the second time she asks, and the just sith slap her if you feel like she deserved it after a conversation (which isnt too often considering I only did 1 light side choice with everything else dark side and I'm level 23) and me and vette get along just fine
