  1. Mostly because, with Strongholds, I need those mats for more than just gearing up alts.
  2. They do clip in the room I was trying to place them in Tatooine.
  3. I actually did. The discussion here has been interesting, however, and a lot more civil than I expected. For some reason I was thinking most of the responses I would get would be more like " I hope the logout screen doesn't hit him in the posterior on the way out. "
  4. And, as I recall, they said they choose hooks over free placement specifically because they didn't want to confuse newer players. Along with tactical FPs, I think this marks a trend to aiming the game at people who aren't expected to stick around very long.
  5. I am going to wait until I see what 3.0 is offering before cleaning up my hard drive, but I don't want to sink another couple of months of sub waiting for it to come out. And, looking at how much love GSF got after it launched, I'm not expecting GSH to get much now that it's out, unfortunately. The great thing is that there are lots and lots of games out there. It's not 1999 when Everquest was the only MMO out there. I've only got as far as finishing the first dungeon in Skyrim, too.
  6. If there aren't any hooks at all in the vicinity of where I want to place something, it doesn't matter what kind of hook layout I use. For the room I'm thinking of, the only hooks are either right up against the wall, where the exhibit cannot be placed without clipping the pillars or ribs that hold up the wall, or the hooks in the middle of the room, which crowd the space too much, making the exhibits look like they're taking over the room, rather than leaving it looking like a Jedi library.
  7. My frustration is not that I can't get stuff crafted if I want. It's that I want to make it myself, have more than 6 characters leveled up with all the Crew Skills covered and still, the best way to get stuff is to pump the RNG for the gathering mission list by walking on and off my ship. Having crew do crafting is supposed to make my character feel more heroic, if I remember the discussion about it at launch, but walking on and off the ship to try and circumvent what seems like a broken design is a long way from making me feel heroic.
  8. I'd love to be blown away by 3.0, but, given how Forged Alliances ended, I'm not holding out much hope. If I want good story these days in a MMO, TSW is much more consistent.
  9. Stuff? Accounts? A Jedi cares not about these things.
  10. No one on the fleet sells blue or purple mats. You can get them off the GTN but, for me, crafting systems in games are to scratch the two-year-old "I can do it myself!" itch. Getting mats from the Cartel Market or jawas requires real world cash or being in a huge guild.
  11. Subscriber since launch. My top 5 reasons for letting my sub drop: 1) A crafting system that, to be used effectively, requires me to walk on and off my ship over and over* 2) A costuming system that requires a million credits to change clothes, at least if I want to wear them on a raid, and what's the point of a spiffy new outfit if my friends can't see it? 3) Oricon ops being the only new raids for getting on a year with nothing new in sight. 4) Kindergarten strongholds: the Barbie Jedi Defender was bad enough, but the hook system cements the impression that I need my hand held like back in grade school. 5) Lack of story. The Forged Alliances has been interesting, but no more class story and just turn me off. * The only way you can get the blue and purple crafting ingredients is through sending companions on gathering missions. The list of missions is random and, usually, the ones you want aren't in the list to begin with. So you pick one you don't want, load a new area - usually by walking off or on your ship - and see if the RNG has given you what you want. If not, drop the one you don't want, pick another one you don't want and load the area again.
  12. Sorry, didn't know that was out there.
  13. I flatter myself that BW would like to know why I'm headed out the door.
  14. Although I've been playing since launch, I think it's time for me to let my subscription drop. It's been a lot of fun, but the disappointment has been more and more prominent lately: crafting by going on and off my ship*, the disappointment of Kindergarten Strongholds**, no more individual class story, and having Oricon ops as the only new content for my regular raiding group until we're all so sick of it we've been chasing Nightmare achievements in level 50 ops. Given the incredibly annoying limits on Preferred accounts, I'm pretty sure I'm going to uninstall the game, too. It was a noble effort, BioWare, but y'all seem terrified of anything but mediocrity - except when it comes to hype. * The only way you can get the blue and purple crafting ingredients is through sending companions on gathering missions. If not, drop the one you don't want, pick another one you don't want and load the area again. ** Having my character's ship come out half size after all the work I put into gathering the mats was the icing on the cake. However, the real failure in Strongholds is the hooks. For instance, I want to put a pile of crates out near my Barbie Jedi Defender, but there are no hooks near the landing pad in the Tatooine stronghold. I want to put a bantha out near the sands, but there are no hooks out that way. I want to stick the datacron exhibit in a room, but the hooks near the wall make it clip and it's too big to put on the middle hooks.
