  1. Cathar were always at the top of my list even back during the early days of beta. I personally liked the Cathar characters in the Old Republic comics and enjoyed playing Juhani in KotOR, though her subspecies never interested me as much as Crado and Sylvar did. I would not mind Togruta or Nautolan as the next playable race, though BW needs to fix the lekku/head-tail/montrail issue (still somewhat broken with Twi'leks, the reason I haven't created one yet). As for Rodians speaking Basic, I've seen it in some of the EU comics (though that might be to make it easier on the penciler/inker) and there have been a few that do in the Clone Wars TV show (yes I know how some people feel about it, but I enjoy the stories). The Wookieepedia has them listed as speaking Rodese, Basic, Huttese, so it is possible. I think the problem is armoring more than anything, but that's just me.
  2. A little late in replying, but I'm still going through the thread. Refering the the bolded part above. Cathar could indeed be a SW or maybe even a SI, not sure about IA, but I don't see why not. As an example within the EU, 400 years prior (~3,996 BBY) there was a Cathar Jedi named Crado who went dark side and followed Exar Kun. Of course he came to his demise when he died in a supernova explosion during the Exar Kun war, but this just goes to show it should be possible to make an Imp factioned Cathar if you wanted.
  3. You know, it just occured to me while thinking of the subject. Exiting the flashpoint back to fleet might be a good thing. Think about if you run a flashpoint and end up getting a lot of drops you want to put on the GTN. If you got transfered back to whatever planet you were on before hand you would still need to fly back to fleet to put them up for sale. This way if you exit on the fleet, you just take the elevator up to the GTN area and sell then and there. Just a thought.
  4. While I agree that it is a little annoying to get transported right back to fleet after the mission is over, the one thing I'd like is if they made it so that the inital and ending conversations for the flashpoints were made available before transporting you back to the planet you were on. Right now when I accept the LFG notice of a group it takes you straight tot he flashpoint totally bypassing the inital conversation at the holoterminal, thus missing out on a few more social points. At least now when you finish and you'e taken back to the fleet, you can go right up to the terminal and start the ending conversation thus getting a few points. If they make it so that you're transported from your planet of questing to the flashpoint and right back to the planet you left, it would seem like you miss those points because it totally bypassed the conversations by initiating the terminal before and after the mission. My $0.02.
  5. I read about these on another site and it piqued my interest. What were they and how did you get them? Makes me wish I had played on the PTS more, but was bogged down with RL stuff. Oh well.
  6. Originally from the Pembrook area of Va. Beach, currently living in NC. Just dropped by to say Hi to all my fellow Virginians.
  7. Cathar is my number one choice. Wouldn't mind Rodian and Nautolan either.
  8. Ummmmm.... not sure what classes you are playing but all classes that I know of that are healers also have a DPS tree in them. Trooper Commando = Medic & Gunnery, Jedi Sage and Smuggler Scoundrel, though I don't know the trees for those. Therefore any one of those classes could indeed level to 50 as a DPS and then swap to Healing with a respec. Not trying to start anything, you chose a decent idea for your argument, I just wanted to point out the one flaw. Also, could someone post the link for that Q&A, I'd like to read it in its entirety. Thanks.
  9. Well to be honest, I think in my mind I've always been reasonable, unfortunately (speaking for myself only) I never really explained what I was looking for. I saw in my mind's eye what I wanted and thought the way I was presenting it to others they would see it exactly that way as well, not taking in to account that might not be the case. As I said, I think we all started explaining things, people started assuming because the idea was not present correctly, and the chaos started building to the point where no one really understood how the other side wanted things laid out. I'm as much at fault as anyone else, and I'm still trying to wrap my brain around why it took 96 pages for me to see what might be going on. I think people just need to step back, take a breath, and better explain what they are looking for, then come to a compromise. I've said what I'm looking for, I think other's should say their piece too and build from there. Unfortunately you're never going to please everyone, but at least this way everything is a lot clearer and less muddled.
  10. Agreed. I definitely don't put BW anywhere near the whole "Lazy" issue, I think they did great with what they had time wise. I personally would have loved to see them push the release back to this summer to be able to add a lot more stuff (i.e. 8 total different story lines), keep stuff in they took out for whatever reason, etc. I was in beta since March last year, I saw a lot of things I liked removed, maybe they will reappear later down the line, I don't know. Unfortunately for whatever reason they decided to push the release date forward, whether it was a BW's idea, or EA wanted it out the door before WoW and 4.3, I don't know. It's here-nor-there anymore, but I don't believe BW to be lazy. On another note, more on topic. After reading a few of the past bunch of posts, I'm thinking that maybe we Pro-AC-Switching people need to come to some agreement on what we are looking for in this option. I see to many people against the idea posting such things as "You'll be able to change your AC any time you want" and "Your guild will be able to force you to switch", etc. I'm wondering if this thread has been going on for soooo long that people have lost sight of what we originally wanted and made it out to be worse that it should be. Please correct me if I'm wrong. As I posted a few days ago, personally I'm not looking for the ability to switch every week or on a whim. I'm only looking for a chance to view the other side of the fence and decide if I like it better and if not then hop back over. This means, in my view of this option, the ability to switch twice anytime between when you pick your AC to say 40 (compromises can be made, this is just a number I pulled from the top of my head). The first time to test the waters of the other AC, the second to swap back if you end up not liking the other green field. If you swap and end up liking the new pasture, good for you, if not you have a fall back. After the second switch that's it, no more... recreate your character, you had your chance. As for "punishment" I don't see why it couldn't be a monetary transaction for each swap (NOT real cash please), though I don't know what the amount would be. I was able to respec my Trooper yesterday and it cost me nothing, this I do think should set you back a decent amount though. Anyone else Pro-AC-Switch want to help clarify, I think it'll help get our point across a little better instead of no one knowing what the other side really wants and what they are willing to compromise to get it. Making assumptions helps no one and gets us no where. Yay? Nay? Please shut up and never talk on these forums again; you don't know what you're talking about? Noooooooooooo!!! Thanks all.
  11. 1. How does giving the ability to change ACs reduce the number of classes from 8 to 4? Last I looked if I changed from a Guardian to a Sentinel, the two classes still exists. Changing to a Sentinel doesn't make the Guardian AC disappear into the void, it's still there to be chosen. 2. Leveling from 1-10 (at least for Trooper and Jedi, the two classes I've played so far) does in no way, shape, or form give you any insight or knowledge on your ACs. From 1-10 on Ord Mantell I just followed my class quests to get off the planet and learned maybe 7 abilities and how to shoot a rifle. Reading up on the different ACs gave me a bit of knowledge of what l'd be doing as either a Vanguard or Commando, Tank/DPS or DPS/Heal. However, and I can't seem to understand why people cannot grasp this concept, Reading != Doing. Until you actually start playing the AC and seeing how it feels to you personally, there is no way to know if you're going to like it. People can say all they want and comment on how awesome an AC is to play, but that is THEIR opinion. You can take their opinion in to consideration, but ultimately it's your decision on if you like the play style or not. Leveling a character to say 30, spending all that time put into it, and still not being impressed with the game play and feel (even though you're heard from people that your AC gets better) of that AC should not force you to waste all you've done so far and reroll to appease those that don't like the idea of AC switching. I agree that it shouldn't be something that you can do on a whim, it should be something that sets you back... though not 1mil creds like someone suggested, but limiting it to two respecs max (just in case you end up not liking what you changed it to) and before level 50 I think is a reasonable thing for us that are pro-AC Respec to ask. Also, all those people that keep saying BW "won't", "will not", etc. be offering AC respecs as an option to the game, please stop. Until a Dev/Gold/Blue (whatever) posts saying yes or no you have no idea what they "Will" or "Will not" do (that is unless of course you have a time machine and in which case let me borrow it for a day, there are some things in my past I'd like to fix... thanks). Say you don't want the ability to change ACs, I'll keep saying I do want it, and leave the conjecture out of the discussion. Thanks.
  12. Title says it all. You yourself have the ability to disable the helmet graphic for your character, why not have the ability to disable the helmet graphics for your companion. This is all my opinion, but some companions look some what decent with the helmet graphics enabled (Trooper - Elara Dorne), but others I'd like to have the ability to turn off the helmet graphics for (Jedi - Kira, never been a fan of the Consular helms). Thanks. Other threads I found, but they were not in the Suggestion Box forum. http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=78968 http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=50709 http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=81135
  13. That's the problem.... they are not the same. Jedi Knight is the Class.... Sentinel/Guardian is the Advanced/Sub Class. The AC is just an extension or subset of the base which adds further abilites and specializations to said base.
  14. Yea, I'm starting to understand why people hate the whole Class/Advanced Class naming convention for seperating the two.
  15. I agree and I see your point. Hopefully, like you say, future expansion will open up more options for the classes. Only time will tell.
