  1. I could agree with that if it werent for the fact that the Republic 1.2 sets are getting even worse... Let me see, I can choose from a Heavy armor class that looks like a Native American in Deer Skins, a COnsular class that looks like a Roman pesant ina toga and loin cloth, a Smuggler that looks like Peter Pan or Robin Hood, or a Trooper that no longer looks like a trooper but looks like a Robot in Mandalorian armor.
  2. You could be correct. I cannot prove when ti was put into the game but I have played with Kira for 3 months now without ever seeing that comment. Actually across all 6 of my characters that is the first new comment I have heard since January. Either way though my points are valid with or without the companion comment.
  3. BM Troopers look amazing. But that's absolutely the only aesthetically pleasing set on the republic side. BM Smugglers look horrid. Everyone was expecting to look like the guy in the Cinematic trailer, but that's only possible by piecing together a few sets with pieces of 40, 50, and PVP gear... Not Ideal. Have you even seen the 1.2 consular gear? Its a frigging toga and loin cloth. Absolutely embarrassing. The Smuggler 1.2 gear makes them look like Peter Pan or Robin Hood, Trooper gear looks like some sort of Robot, and Warriors will look like Native Americans running around in deer skins. The most common comment I have heard the last few days is, that people are so glad for PVP and Raid set mod swapping. Almost nobody I have heard wants to wear the 1.2 gear they would rather keep the stuff they have been in for the last 2 months.
  4. Thanks for the comment. That is pretty much what myself a quite a few other republic players feel. I have played both sides. Empire on The Fatman server, and Republic on Prophecy of the Five, and from first hand experience the Empire have a much better gaming experience from beginning to end on all fronts.
  5. To most of the games population this wont matter since about 70% play Empire but it just needs to be said. Are the Bioware devs mocking us? They laugh at the fact that republic have been at a disadvantage for so long. They alter a Empire CC to make it look like the Republic player is laying on its back crying like a little baby. Oh and surprise surprise... there is now a nifty little bug that occasionally makes republic players do this same animation after losing a voidstar match. They give us trash armor that at 50 looks worse then most of the 20-40 sets that Empire players get. And then I discover this. While turning in one of my PVP quests I accidentally clicked on my companion Kira Carsen and she said something she had never said before. I believe this was added with one of the last 2 patches. Kira Carsen says, "Have you seen what the Sith are wearing? It's like every fashion designer in the galaxy went over to the dark side." Seemed a little bit of a coincidence that she started saying something new just after the latest 1.2 armor designs were released and there was widespread agreement on the republic side that not only were our old armors pathetic, but the 1.2 Republic armor sets were possibly the worst ever. Worse then anything previous. Bioware has ridiculous resources to dump into this game. They need to do some serious work on the Republic side since Empire get an extremely beautiful and polished game experience.

    SWTOR vs GW2

This should explain it a little more for you. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4VKhrCDWfg

    SWTOR vs GW2

The game is centered around your own personal playstyle. The game will be different for every single one of the millions who play it. The PVe side of the game is all about your characters personal storyline. You advance through your deeds and adventures in teh world but are in no way put on a linear progression path like SW:TOR does. You can progress your story through endless combinations of adventure choices. PVP will be a large part of the game for those who choose to partake. They have taken the best parts of PVP from past games such as DAoC, WAR, EQ, GW1, and combined them into a multi server war basically. It will also have arena/battleground type team matches. Class balance wont be an issue because of the way everyone is internally balanced during PVP. Your gear and weapons and skills will be the same on your guardian as the guardian on the other team and that goes for every class. There is no Healers or Tanks. Everyone is a damage class that has the ability to heal, rez, protect, and crowd control. They do it in different ways but because everyone gets a littel of everything it is far more balanced then a game like SW:TOR where some classes have tons of CC others have lots of defense etc etc....

    SWTOR vs GW2

Sorry but I have actually played the game and it is amazing. Still in closed beta and its smoother and more fluid then SW:TOR, Rift, or WoW. The dynamic events keep then game at a constant and active pace. Nowhere near as much travel and city dead time as other games. The classes are so fun to play and you basically change specs on the fly during combat by swapping out weapon sets. I travelled all the way from Dallas to Gamescom in Cologne, Germany back in August last year primarily to test this game and it was worth every penny.

    SWTOR vs GW2

To many people here responding about a game they obviously havent been to a convention to test yet. 1. GW2 has very few quests. Instead it has a dynamic event system where things in the world happen and you just kinda stumble across them while exploring. Stay in the area and complete some of the objectives get XP and rewards... There will be so many of these events over 2000 currently in the game that it is said you likely could make 100 characters and never have the same levelling experience on any of the characters. 2. GW2 has a PVP system that is based on Server vs. Server vs. Server. These battlegroups will fight for control of objectives battlefields and control points over the course of a 2 week period and then be ranked and rewarded based on performance. It will not be some 2 faction same server PVP BS like WoW or SW:TOR. 3. This type of PVP system allows for amazing balance as all servers will have access to teh exact same classes abilities and group setups. Along with class balance you have gear balance. All characters will have access to the same exact gear and abilities during PVP events. Form lvl 1 up to max lvl everyone competes on the same level, gear, and abilities. Skill will be the only determining factor. 4. GW2 is not an instanced based world like Guild Wars was. It is a true massive online persistent world. During the realm battle you may see hundreds of individuals form each realm fighting all out on the same massive battlefield. The GW2 world is currently larger in total scale then any other game aside from Everquest. 5. While PVP will have a large impact in the game you are in no way forced to PVP. You can play through the game level up do dynamic events all across the world, and even participate in world and dungeon raids without ever taking part in PVP if that is your wish. As I said there will be open world PVE, Dungeons, Raids, and PVP. All available to every player from lvl 1 to max level. 6. GW2 will not release until Arenanet is comfortable that the game is 100% ready. This is where Bioware failed. They released the game based on a deadline set by EA and it has now cost them drastically in total purchase and subscription retention and even EA a massive company is seeing stock price drops because of the negativity surrounding SW:TOR. The choice is yours I will probably play both games as GW2 is free so I can still keep my SW:TOR subscription. Well that is assuming Bioware fixes the problems and concerns I currently have with this game.
  10. Sullon Zek was awesome... I too played there for a while. I had a dwarf warrior on the Neutral team.
  11. I know. Some people are just damn ignorant... I have been trying to tell a guildie about Guild Wars 2 for months... He still to this day tells me he doesn't want to play GW2 because its gonna be instanced zones and no real PVP... its like no matter how many times I explain it to him he hasn't even heard what I say.
  12. Actually you couldnt be more wrong. SW:TOR is a Co-Op RPG... GW was a Co-Op RPG GW2 is a MMORPG. Taken from their own FAQ... Will Guild Wars 2 be an MMO? Yes. Guild Wars 2 provides a massive, online persistent world.
  13. You have to remember that since launch there has only been 3 abilities found that may or may not have favoured the republic while over 17 found favouring the Imperials. Also the ones that Republic players are complaining about most of them have been known since early closed beta and were ignored. The Imperial ones were mostly newer discoveries found since full release. Major faction imbalance + large number of favouring abilities that have been known for a long time + Ilum screw up + Lies , lies, and more lies on Bioware's part add up over time.
  14. Good. Bioware has failed massively with this game. It needs to be kept in the light until they come out and say, "yes we screwed up, we are sorry, we will do everything in our power to fix it." Instead they have taken a hard nosed point of cover up and denial. Latest example was the 1.1 Ilum changes. They released the patch and I am sitting there watching a stream of a bunch of players farming turrets. Guy is getting valor ticks every time the turret died and there is no Republic players being killed as it would have showed "randomscrub01 has been defeated". About 5 hours into the stream all the sudden turrets stop giving valor gains. And a few minutes later there is a dev post that it was a lie and they were never giving valor.... Or how about the claim that the only people having performance issues in game are the 5% minority with inferior low end computers... But most of the people having the biggest problems and reporting them along with Dxdiag logs on the forums have extremely high end gaming rigs. And forum reports only represent the portion of a gaming community who take the time to post. While small in general active forum members can be seen as a viably proportionate sample of the entire games population. If 100 forum posters report their performance and 40% of them have bad performance statistically 40% of the entire games population is probably having performance issues. Bioware claims they have sold more copies then they anticipated, but EA stock traders are claiming 3% drop in stock prices after the announcement that SW:TOR has underperformed both in sales and subscription retention as of yesterday. Sorry Bioware but cover up and denial always eventually come to light... Just ask any major government around the world.
  15. I cannot state for fact that Bioware's development team created these imbalances on purpose, but here is a few things to consider. 1. Almost every member of the dev team has publicly said at some point that their own main character is Imperial. 2. When developing a game with mirror classes, you write down the abilities base effect. Then create 2 different class matching names for the ability, then create 2 animations that groove with said classes, then tweak dmg and cost after some ability testing. There is no way they went through all of those steps with every ability without noticing the major differences between the abilities. They don't have a Trooper team and a Bounty Hunter Team... They have a Trooper/Bounty Hunter team.... There is no excuse for any differences however slight between the classes when the same people are designing the abilities for both sides at the same time.
