  1. oh, as a side note, what all would you like to see carried over FROM this game to the next? The Legacy system had potential in terms of handling account wide items and unlocks but i would love to see it get more use and purpose. I liked the idea of specifically naming out my alts as friend/foe/family and would love to see that expanded upon. I've already mentioned a few times, that i would love it if that actually played into the story, allowing Friendly alts to aid me or enemies to be my villains in some kind of nemesis system. Companions are also another great thing that i would love to see expanded upon. The Star Trek MMO had a five person team set up, which was nice but lacked the depth and interaction of the single companion here. Maybe find a nice balance between the two. Two companions that are more story involved like KOTOR but let us loosely alter their abilities as well? who knows, but it was nice here and i would like seeing a better version in the next go.
  2. Given the current topic of development ceasing on this game, it got me thinking. What all would you like to see from the next Star Wars MMO, if they did make one? To be honest, i'm surprised this game lasted as long as it has due to a lot of issues (personal opinion) and such. - Given the IP, I would love to see something a little more action-oriented. The controls and animations here were just way too clunky and wooden for the action of the Star Wars universe. The Force Unleashed games had way better flow for movement and combat. - More KOTOR. Specifically in the way you built your character. I think ESO handles this well, for an mmo, allowing you to pick your weapons style, armor styling, and basing your choices for powers off that. Again though, great controls and pacing for an action game. - Better animation/art style. This always bugged me here. I get WHY they did it but it just never looked right to me... or good. Older systems, easier on the GPUs, "tie-in" to the clone wars, they had their reasons. I get that. But now that it's (possibly) over, i would absolutely love a better game visually. I'm not asking for the best of the best like the new Battlefront 2 levels but after 8 years, the original battlefront 2 visuals aren't helping the game at all. - More STAR in our Star Wars. Considering that it's STAR WARS, the space aspect should have never been an after though... At all. Ever. Even now, we really don't have any proper representation in the game for the actual space portions of the Star Wars IP. Granted, the fighter combat is okay but meh... it has it's niche but that seems about it. From the very get go of development, SPACE should have been half of the thought process. Firstly, your Ship should be your player housing like the Falcon. A concept that was entirely neglected in this game. Your ship should feel like a character all it's own. Fleets/stations as hubs, which they did well enough here. Travel is a tough one though. We're seeing more games doing the Procedurally generated planets that let you go from ground to space without load screens and that would be PERFECT for a Star Wars MMO, either taking your fighter or main ship straight into hyperdrive. Games like Star Citizen, No Man's sky, and others, make this look fantastic but rarely ever pay it off fully. I doubt EA would be able to pull it off much better. Regardless, it would be nice to see Star Wars-esque space in a Star Wars licensed game. - Emphasis on your story. They failed that here. Hard. It wasn't until the KOTFE that i really felt like my choices actually had any weight to them. We couldn't even build our characters the way we wanted because it was all too blocked off from the very start, which kills me, as KOTOR had such a great way of doing characters. I would have loved seeing a much-upgraded version of that system. Give me something along the lines of Champions online, in terms of character creation/customization, and maybe, ESO in terms of how powers and builds work but give us that choice. What about those like Kanon, who use a blaster when they decided to not be jedi? What about those like Rex and Cody, who want to drop the heavy guns and pull out the dual pistols? I, myself, would have loved to go full Ventress as my dual sabers seamlessly became a double bladed saber and back, mid-combat. There was a very simple mod for that in the original kotor, which could have been easily replicated here but no... they had to lock you into a single weapon style, with too many boring animations. Our choices, our characters, and our ability to customize said characters (and maybe ships) should have been a forefront of a Star Wars game. More so, if it's opening advertisement is all about "Your Story". - Setting. This one is a bit Crazy and stupid, as it would be WAAAY to intensive on assets and such but as there are so many eras to choose from. it's a shame they couldn't do different eras on different servers. Instead of the RP server, the PVP server, or other servers, how great would it be for there to be a prequel server, original server, new trilogy server, old republic? It would NEVER happen but it would still be cool to think about. Stories, missions, mechanics, animations, non-famous NPC models, it would all be the same, it's just the visual style that would change. i'm sure there are more things i would love to see that are already in other games, Physics like Unleashed, gameplay and a world as open and free as GTA online, offshoot story in the background of canon that lets us interact or aid famous characters, customizable weapons that changed visually as you did so, things simple as GTA's mouth moving during voice chat.... Way too many little things that would never make it all into a single game. Think about it though. Think about it though, if they DID make another Star Wars MMO, what would you want to see in it? What era would you want it to be set in? Would you interact with famous Characters? TL;DR: What would you (ideally) like in a new Star Wars MMO, should this one be discontinued?
  3. I'll put my name on this. I would be curious to know as well. Personally, though, i doubt EA is going to let go of the IP all that willingly but between the last film, toy sales, Battlefront 2, and how things in this game have been going, i doubt we will see any real development after this point. The Story is at a good point to stop. With their "always escalating" writing, there really is nowhere to go once you're the emperor of an entire third faction. Not unless they wanted to branch off into other factions based on characters since KOTFE is so jedi/sith character heavy. Pirates for the smuggler class, Mandalor for BH, General/intel commander, etc but that is entirely unlikely. God knows that anytime you post an idea for adding value to the game everyone jumps on you with "The budget" and "Voice acting"... Hopefully, those people are happy now, since they might get their way and have NO new content. Personally, i would love to see a revamp of the legacy system to be more account wide, and specifically, playing more off of the relationships between all the characters on your account. Maybe, if development were to continue, have story missions where you come across your alts as enemies and friends. Unfortunately, the game just feels to dead. Not in terms of players but game wise. The development cycles, the quality of the newer content, the lag since the server merger. The forums are full of great ideas to revitalize the game but given all of the issues and the lack of interest by EA, i'm sure they're just going to stop making anything new and just keep it running until it breaks too much. They gotta squeeze every penny out of us before they actually let the game die. How long before we get a decent Star Wars MMO after they stop making this one?
  4. Yes please! As a side note, i'm on AMD, so i cant even sign up for anything as it tells me i need the NVIDIA stuff to apply for it.
  5. This has been happening to me during things like flashpoints, where i switch floors and my companion isn't there. Even in star fortresses, i've been having them not spawn in with me, which sucked on the boss fight...
  6. Speaking of which, is there a way to see who your current romance option is? I romanced both Jaesa and Vette but i think i agreed to married Jaesa at some point. I haven't had a relationship option with Vette in the new stuff but Lana seems to be a flirt option that ends up with a whole lot of nothing. I can't wait to get Jaesa back though, as she's my go-to companion for non-story missions. Considering how she had the most drastic options for both light and dark, I wonder how they will work that into the story and mission for getting her back. I'm definitely curious to see what she looks like when she does though.
  7. It's because EA couldn't get the card collecting or the microtransaction working in time. This was the next most annoying option.
  8. Regardless, of WHY it's happening, it's happening and they keep saying "Tomorrow". The longer they keep doing that the less credible they look. If they keep it up, people will start expecting more free things for the wait.
  9. I'm sensing that some might not have read the full thing... I'm also suprised that it's been a resounding no. For the most part, this wouldn't be a full character with a full story and a mass of poorly written dialog for a poorly written story. These would be characters which share the same story going from the start of KOTFE, meaning they don't need more than a quarter of the dialog, and that would only be off handed comments in game play and some for story mode. That's it. Another side note is that accredited VO actors are allowed to voice multiple rolls (3-5 i think, i forget which) before they have to be credited for more. They don't need ANY new voice actors. Some of these, Droid and Wookie/alien, can be done entirely with those options that are already in game for no extra costs. And these Characters would be as frequent, or more realistically, less frequently added than things like Lightsaber tunings. That means, one at a time every so many months, not all at once. This minimizes the costs of adding a "new class" while allowing people to buy them to test out how well they'll sell. If they implemented a class change token for the half classes specifically, they could just piggyback it off of your existing class, meaning that it's the same VO and story, making it even cheaper. The point is its simplicity. Depending on how creative they can be, how easy it would be to change classes (which is the hardest part), or how cheaply they want to do this, this could potentially draw in more people and add a small sales boost. I would totally drop $10-15 real money for this. Unfortunately, i doubt they would ever allow the weapon equipping or power swapping that KOTOR had. To be honest though, that should have been in the game since pre-alpha.
  10. Am i right? Considering that we are now and, for the foreseeable future, on a single story line across all classes and characters, now is the perfect time to start introducing new classes. Basically, you add another two voice actors per class, build them around character types, and experiment with them. This will bring back old players looking for that new playstyle that fits them better. It brings back players who felt "their" Star Wars experience wasn't being fulfilled. The HOW: What would you rather see? A token in the store for 1000cc? A free to play choice that requires the level 60 token to use? Keep in mind that since these characters are built for post fallen empire content, they're not going to be a fast grind from 1-60 using story missions. These classes wouldn't come with any story content or class missions to grind before that, hence them being half classes, so ideally, they wouldn't be expensive to unlock. The WHY: Play style. Customization. Creativity. Roleplay. Role filling for missions. There are a plethora of reasons why this would be a good thing to look into. One of my biggest gripes with this game was that it lacked the character building of The Knights Of The Old Republic games. I loved that I could choose powers and weapons, giving me much greater opportunity to build MY characters MY way. Fallen Jedi, who uses a blaster, much like Kanon? Yes please. Wookies? Ya damn right... But, since it's waaaay too late to get that system in game, we compromise. They start introducing half classes. Classes built with these characters in mind. Imagine a Droid class. Wookies or other alien species. A class with More force powers, who uses dual sabers. Or a Ventress style character who fluidly switches between dual sabers and saber staffs DURING combat! All you need to do is find a way to switch current character classes to the new ones without having to reroll (even if it's just a reroll token that copies over everything from existing characters), and to add a New ship type (maybe Koth's shuttle) for them to use if they're not starting from an existing class. There is an infinite possibility here. A possibility that would allow people to closer reflect their own personal star wars characters. It would allow for a lot more customization options to be added as well. Creative ideas: I would love to see a droid class. Rather than going male/female, you get a t-7/scorpio style droid. You customize the under-frames and wiring looks, maybe face plates, but just like clothing does for people, the armor and equipment add the outward appearance of these characters. Armor plating, shinier stylish looks, attachments like guns, shock sticks, interface arms. I could easily spend an entire forum post about how to make a droid class in game. Buying half class types, if they're done in store, should unlock them as a companion. A much needed addition to this is to find a way to use your character as a customization item. This does two fold. This lets you use your half class as you've made them, for a companion. Just like the animals and battle droids, this would be a simple companion, not viable for story content but great for random missions and non-story content. Secondly, this opens up the possibility of having your own FREAKIN' story characters as companions. Through the (kinda useless) legacy system, you can claim your alts as friends, family, enemies and so on. Finding out a way to make in-depth customizations as a customization item would allow them to make Companions of your other characters... FOR STORY MODE! My Main is a sith Marauder. His enemy is my inquisitor but his friend is by bounty hunter. At what point, WOULDN'T i love to see this come into play in the story mode? I know there are plenty of people who's characters are supposed to be spouses, so why not make this so they can actually be romanced characters? Hell, i would love to see an entire nemesis system in game, allowing me to use existing characters as or create entirely new (non-playable) characters for my characters to have mini story missions against or with. There is just a lot of ways that adding the half-class idea would be beneficial to the game. I would love for this idea to get enough attention that the devs take it into consideration, so feel free to add a yay or nay, as well as classes you would love to see and other ideas that you would love to see, since we're now all on the same, simplified story set up. TL;DR Current way of story needs new way of adding classes
  11. given the fact that they're tied to boxes, they're already potentially too expensive. More so if dual wielders need to double up as well. I'm seriously hoping that I can unlock them account wide after winning one, especially with how many characters I have vs the possible visuals they might come out with, that would fit each one. Do we know yet, if any current weapons will be compatible or upgradable? I've got a pair of orange sabers that I've been customizing, but I would be a bit miffed if they became useless in terms of getting the visual I've been wanting since beta.
  12. THIS IS WHY WE CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS! You never take your lightsaber into the bathroom... unless it's a public restroom, in which case, it's just for safety.
  13. The lower income is my guess. This game hemorrhaged players pretty early on, and never really recovered as well as a Star Wars related game should have. While it has recover some of the players, a Budget of $200 millon+ needed a lot longer to make back when so many people dropped so early in. Given the current development of one story for all classes (instead of one for each), solo only contacts for the DLCs, and the slow whittling down of the game, I'd say they're definitely suffering from a much smaller budget as well, but it just took longer for us to be hit in game after things like server closures, layoffs, Daniel Erickson's abs no longer being a fringe benefit, things like that. Given how much they put into this game, I doubt they would have cut the budget had it been as big as they were hoping it to be. This was Bioware's first MMO, so I think they'd have kept the money pumping into the game as long as it was coming in from players.
  14. Agreed. For me, personally, this game has been a failure since beta, which is never a good sign. Over all, it has, and still does, feel like more of a Star Wars knock-off rather than a full-fledged Star Wars game. They weren't even going to launch with space combat, which is a joke considering that the IP is STAR Wars. Around $200 million dollars to make and the game still looks cartoony, but not in the cartoonish Star Wars way, is too stiff (which is terrible as a game, but worse in an action packed IP like Star Wars), and the VO is really sub-par and overused (both in terms of the lines used multiple times, often out of context, or as in, VO actors clearly not even trying when being multiple characters), customer service is a complete joke for a good number of people (both paid and f2p) and numerous other issues, which they promptly topped off by supposedly blaming the fans for: https://www.google.com/?ion=1&espv=2#q=bioware%20blames%20fans To be honest, nobody I know plays this anymore. The Free to Play model is atrocious, actually withholding rewards for not being a paying member, the store is way overpriced for how little you're getting (especially considering you have to pay extra to unlock account wide on the already egregious pricing), and anything good about this game is easily overshadowed by the sheer amount of terrible. Admittedly, I have been enjoying the new story missions. I've liked that it seems like my decisions are actually counting for something finally (since it didn't until 2016 and they totally lied about it at launch). The missions have been semi-interesting, I've enjoyed coming across the various companions and seeing how they've handled the five-year absence of my characters, but even that is sullied by it all being a single story rather than one for each class. More so, when they're actually mentioning my other characters also being missing, so unless I'm getting my other characters as companions, it really does seem like a cop-out. And the HK inspired gear has been lackluster minus the helmet and jetpack. The only reason I came back was A) interesting story attempt, B) the Star Trek MMO is just as bad, but in different ways, C) I love Star Wars, so for as little as the game feels Star Warsy, it's the only Star Wars MMO out there. At beta, I clearly remember seeing more people mad that this was a WoW clone than saying they needed it more like Wow, going so far as to even point out the jump animations had even been the same at that point. I've never played Wow, I doubt I ever will, but Star Wars needs to be more of a fast-paced action game than a fantasy with cast times. Hell, they couldn't even make this game feel like Kotor, which was the shame given that they were also advertising it to be Kotor 3, 4 , 5, 6, etc. And this was to the point where people started calling for an actual Kotor 3, and others are remaking Kotor in HD. The vision of this game was too narrow and limited, and they completely missed the point of Star Wars, even aiming in the right direction (story and character driven). They should have spent more money in character creation and customization, to allow for more options, actual race traits, and more species than just humans/painted humans/painted humans with stuff on their heads. Where are the Wookie players? Why can't we be Rodian or Bith? Nautolans, anyone? Hell, Togruta can't even wear headgear, and that's just new low in uncaring laziness. Most design decisions make little to no sense, or are really cool, minus that one thing that makes it unusable or so bad minus that one really cool part. Speeders (which have SPEED in the name) are insanely slow and stiff to use, even on the "fast" travel ones. The animations are often terrible, kinda cool, or just look like I'm a kid flailing my arms about, rather than being a well-trained master saber duelist. And that's using the Ataru form, which you might remember as being the one Yoda used... not stiff, slow, or childlike flailing. I liked the idea of choreographing the combat, but even then, it still seems like two people flailing at each other, and not often (though sometimes) like a master combatant facing a worthy challenge. Had this game not been Star Wars, I really doubt it would still be around. And after 200+ millions of dollars spent, they still haven't managed to capture any of the Star Wars feel, minus some of the music. Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens, will have infinite more grasp on the Star Wars feel, better action and controls, VO, visual style, and will clearly be a better Star Wars Game for a lot less money. Considering the fact that this is (barely) a Star Wars game, there was a record breaking Star Wars film released recently, there is new content, and there is already hype building for the next Star Wars movie and game, this game really does seem like a failure. While it's not dead yet, it's still too low a population for how big Star Wars is at the moment, especially with how poorly Star Trek is doing lately (their MMO sucks as well, just for very different reasons). When HardCore Star Wars fans are actively and angrily avoiding your Star Wars game, you know you've failed pretty hard. I'm sure there are a million more things I could go on about, which lower the game as a whole (ship stuff, character stuff, combat stuff, the dumbing down of the game, etc), but this has already been rant enough for one day. I just... Star Wars deserved a much better MMO by people who understand Star Wars, not by people who wanted to tell a story and just happened to attach the IP to a bad product.
