  1. I followed SWTOR since the early days when it was only rumors on the internet sparked by BioWare opening an opening an office in Austin. I created an account on the old forums the first day they were open and pre-ordered the game the first day it was available. I got in on the last few rounds of closed Beta and have been a subscriber since launch day. I have had to take a few months off from the game here and there but always maintained my subscription.
  2. This was also my experience. For the most part it didn't seem that bad until I landed on Belsavis.
  3. I saw a Cathar Sith Warrior on The Ebon Hawk server named "Snugglemittens" running with the title "The Merciless". Made me smile as he ran by. lol
  4. I guess I have been around a while. I remember all of the stories and rumors surrounding BioWare opening an office in Austin and the Star Wars MMO they were working on. As soon as the original public forum was opened I created an account. I got into the last couple of rounds of Beta testing and have been here, quietly lurking in the forums ever since.
  5. About $80.00 when the market was new. The "ooh shiny-ness" of it got me.
  6. My only AMD component is an ASUS branded HD7950 video card. So far, I have had no problems with it.
  7. ^^^ This. I also run an i7 3770K 32GB RAM. My video card is the ASUS branded HD7950 and I run everything maxed out. I very rarely get any lag. When I do, a quick reboot of my router and modem usually does the trick.
  8. Congratulations to you and the future Mrs. Best of luck to you both.
  9. Hi ... I guess I don't quite meet the criteria of the title as I will not be 45 for another 6 months. I have worked in IT at various levels for the past 13 years. Everything from assembling custom-built PCs in a local small computer shop to my current positions as a Citrix administrator at a hospital here in my home town. I guess it makes me a bit anti-social, but I would still rather tinker with computers than spend time with most people I know. I have played SWTOR since launch. It is only the 2nd MMO I have ever played. The only other MMO I have played was that "other" Star Wars MMO who's name shall not be mentioned. I have Republic and Imperial toons spread across a few servers. Because I am a casual player and can't seem to pick a toon and class to stick with, I have only managed to get 2 toons to level 55. But I enjoy the game and will probably keep pecking away at it until something else with lightsabers comes along.
  10. hmmmm ... I have the same processor and my video card is the step below yours and hover around the mid 40 degree celsius range after playing for a couple of hours. The only thing I can think of is maybe the CPU heat sink. I did use the fan and heat sink that came with the CPU but I cleaned off the thermal paste that was on it and used a good coat of arctic silver. I only did that because I read a few articles where people said they got better heat dissipation but honestly I'm not sure how accurate that is. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. Hopefully one of the hardware gurus out there will peek in on this thread and be able to offer assistance.
  11. It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to check temps. Also make sure you have up to date drivers. I run the same processor in a Z77 SaberTooth board with and ASUS 7950 and haven't had any issues so far.
  12. Cool. I haven't tried an Imperial Agent toon yet. I have been looking for a reason to roll one. Sounds like this might be the right time.
  13. Thank you all for the kind responses. It is much appreciated and makes the prospect of delving into PvP a bit less daunting.
  14. Ouch ... that sounds like a pretty nasty ankle injury. I hope all is going well for you. My hand was broken / dislocated bones in the middle, ring and little finger with some nerve and tendon damage in the ring and little finger. I can still make use of the middle finger while driving when necessary. but the older I get, the less I find that to be necessary. Strangely enough I seem to get it when other drivers zoom around me more as I get older. Correlation? lol As for the "Heal the other team to death" comment above .. I LOVE IT. lol
