  1. That's right! Some of the very first SW novels. I liked that series.
  2. Go back and read my posts before commenting please. The... "Just <fill-in-the-blank-with-something-unavaiable-at-low-levels>." ... faux advice/bragging is just empty nonsense.
  3. I really suggest you start a new Trooper on a new server and play it for the first 25 levels, then come back and talk about it.
  4. Like so many other games in the past, the devs have chosen to appease the pvp crowd at the expense of everything else in the game. It's too bad they screwed it up like this, but no surprise, either. Just like those other games, they end up with empty servers. My guess is there won't be any real enhancements to the game from here out. Free-to-play is not very far off now, I think.
  5. No. I liked it a lot better prior to 1.2. Just like so many other mmo games where the developers decide to swing the nerf bat really hard in the first big update, they made everyone angry, including those they were trying to appease.
  6. Interesting observation, OP. I'm going to experiment.
  7. I had just started a Trooper before the 1.2 downgarde. I was on Coruscant and had logged out with a lot of missions finished and not turned in. Well, the first thing the patch did was rollback all of my progress on those missions, so I had the "opportunity" to do those missions again. My Trooper was pitiful after the downgrade. Ammo costs were way up and my armor might as well have not existed. Aric was out-DPSing me in a big way. I was forced to heal after almost every encounter. I don't mind difficult encounters every once in a while, but every single fight? Seriously, what does the Trooper have to offer after the nerf?
  8. It isn't just Commando. I have a Vanguard doing the Defensive tree and after the patch it's like I have no armor at all. Even trivial encounters can reduce me to 1/2 to 3/4 health. There is no way this class was play tested at lower levels with this nerf. My Sage tanks a hell of a lot better than my Trooper now.
  9. <sigh> After playing my Trooper alt for a while and experiencing the mega nerf for low level Troopers, I thought I would check in to see what they have done to my main. Well f**k me if they haven't nerfed the s**t out of him too. I guess this is the master plan for not having to hand out more free play time. P**s everbody off to the point where they delete their toons in disgust. Free-to-play is coming soon to a server near you!
  10. I'll second that. It is right on the money. In their haste to cater to the end game players, they have completely f**ked up low end play balance.
  11. I started a Trooper just prior to the patch. I had an excellent opportunity to compare before and after effects of the patch, as the patch rolled back most of my missions. Gee, thanks Bioware. So, I started redoing all of those mission requirements I had previously done, in exactly the same areas with exactly the same spawns. Not good, not good at all. Situations that had been trivial before were life threatening now. The difficult parts from before were flatly impossible now. It isn't my play style; I know what combination of skills to use to get maximum DPS. I'm giving it everything I've got, and I just run low on ammo and health far too quickly, and spend my time waiting for anything to recharge. Medpacks are definately used more often now. All of this isn't unexpected though. The big nerf always gets applied in the first big update. I have definately sworn off subscribing to any game until after the nerf. I know I'm not alone in my dissatisfaction, just look at the post update server populations.
  12. Ah, and there you get to the meat of it. No, because a good team might cost them a few dollars more, money that comes out of the executive officers' bonuses. Speaking of which, did you notice that money comes from subscriptions? So not only did those highly paid executives gamble a loss of money on one group of customers hoping to retain them by giving them free time, they alienated the other group by doing so. You know, the less valuable group they expect to pay the way for the first group. All of these rage quits are music to my ears, as they only subtract all the more from the bottom line. Hello?!? Mr. Executive Officer!!! Are you getting this?!?
  13. Has Bioware offered a Mea Culpa yet? If not, I sincerely doubt there will be one, and that will be the biggest mistake of all.
  14. I'm going to ammend my prediction. What will probably happen is that the sub 50 players who quit will be given a free month, thus twice alienating the sub 50 players who didn't quit.
  15. I see the debate continues. I'm just waiting to see how Bioware responds to all this. If they are smart, they won't do anything but try to fix the broken parts of the game. If they are smart. However, they may try to do something to win back all the rage quits from the sub 50 players, in which case I can only imagine the outrage that will generate with all the post 50 players. I can't wait to hear all the counter-wailing. Somebody pass me the popcorn, please. Seriously, though. This is a player PR fubar of epic (fail) proportions, for all players as far as I can tell.
