  1. It truly was a great aspect of SWG that was deep beautiful and fun. I miss my ace pilot, my assortment of Tie fighters and hunting my quotas and I did the kessel run in less than 12 parsecs. SWTOR feels shallow rushed and to me it's not star wars or even worthy of to be associated with KOTOR. Instead of just trying to add more "rotoscoped" "jellymold" planets, Bioware take a long hard look at your preddacssor who you slayed and see what good you can take from it. Space, community are two things so badly wrong with this game.
  2. Agree 100% with everything you said especially "abandoned movie set."
  3. SWG had themeparks, heroics and was a Sandbox MMO it revolved around a social community, not voice actors commanding your every move. We can go on till the cows come home about the NGE and the mass exodus but end of the day SWG offered something no mmo has since, it was very unique in it's approach and catered to broad tastes. Themepark mmos cater to a specific taste- if you like to not think for yourself and pretend your the most important person alive whilst flirting with ficitional charecters and doing repetive missions non stop then it's your cup of tea. Personally I miss the social aspect created in swg by the players. I got thrills over instances like Hoth and storming the Leia's corillian corvette and what was great is after all the combat you coudl go and just chill and still be in that universe, it's much more dynamic and I think that mmo's are reflecting the social scene of comforimty and often dull less interesting content, sadly. I also find it hilariously ironic how the same people playing TOR and WoW insult SWG for the CU/NGE when the combat in TOR is almost identical and there are even less classes, choice, customisation. It's like the pot calling the kettle black. Problem that Tor will face , is people get bored. Everyone does. you play a game for a while get bored play somethign else, because it's all the same. That's where for me SWG differed I could do so many different things in game and larking about for fun not caring about leveling for a day kept me coming back, got me through 3 months wiht a broken ankle and I loved the humour and effort of all the little gimmicks, Ewok love day, life day and star wars jokes/references. Tor feels like a game with the Star wars logo slapped on the front and once in game honestly tell me you feel the magic of Star Wars as I don't sadly And I'm sorry to be a nay sayer but it's a real crapper that swg was killed to funnel us onto TOR and Tor only caters to a person who loves grinding by killing easy enemies, picking mutiple choice answers and inhabiting a world full of other people who you can't and don't talk to. Might aswell be 1 player. KOTOR was a much better game than SWTOR. One last thing, swg failed...but it lasted for 8 years. Most of that time was post nge...so it was making profits and it wasn't contending with WoW or Eve but who gives a **** it was for star wars fans and more liked it than people like to give credit.
  4. Does feel a little like East and West Germany. You may not speak to the other faction...I think this game's social aspects are what's killing it sadly. I want to interact rolepaly with others, that usally works better with the opposite faction as your enemies plain and simple there's more to talk about There needs to be social zones or areas where players congrigate besides pvp. It's all one big themepark grind (yes it's a themepark mmo like Wow) but it can offer more. Makes cantinas a hub offer xp for social events like friday night's in specific neutral cantinas etc...something fun

I mean Palace! http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p283/ROLLERCOASTEROB/Screenshot_2012-09-01_01_55_19_581052.jpg Acuse me of being the dirty one all your like just remember Bioware put it in the game. And remeber Always let the wookie win... http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p283/ROLLERCOASTEROB/Screenshot_2012-09-01_19_29_08_165390.jpg
  6. Wasn't aware this game allowed humour ... Funniest moment is me and my brother dancing round naked in Nem'ro's cantina and the usual passers by on their quests who normally don't notice you all stopped to join in so there were about 7 naked characters dancing on the Cantina stage. it only lasted for a moment, but it was the best moment in game, (since then I've lost all will to try and romance my companion who afterall is just a pre-recorded polygon), first and only time I laughed or saw anything social happen in game. It made me mish real human interaction within an mmo, I wish this game had a social community. I randomly Whisper to passers by who have the social interaction of a dead tortuse " Do you wanna buy some Deathsticks?"
  7. I'm not gonna beat around the bush. There is no ingame community!? TOR is like the London Underground, lots of people going places, but no ones talking or even acknowledges each other all going their own way. A community is what sells/makes a game, people don't come back to have romance with their NPC companion they come back to laugh with friends about a heroic that's gone wrong or just chat. If tor was to create to add this into the game it would make up for everything I can find wrong with the game. I can accept it's not swg. I'm not here to reminisce and bash TOR, but surely I'm not the only one who feels a bit lonely a bit dissapointed that at no point do you get a chance to meet random strangers, develop friendships in game...besides being the correct level to help someone else in a group mission then go your own ways. There needs to be more. Tor could learn from one of the things SWG got right the sense of community. The question is what changes could be made to implement this? I for one think Chat bubles as it's easy to miss/feel un-engaged by a chatbox full of text scrolling past really fast. It would also be an idea to hold humorous social events that are break from grinding, take the mickey, laugh, don't have to be so serious about TOR all the time... As this wouldn't necessarily change the game, it would just add an alternative reason to log in for some and those who are about to slag me off for my views and tell me to F off that their hardcore pvper's etc and this game is an immersive roleplay can still have it like it was on launch. I'm looking to give a positive idea to help the game and make it enjoyable for myself and I hope others, I'm not thrilled by being on-line with others and 99% of the time listening to pre-recorded audio that's not what drives me to play, what does is that sense of belonging to a community! Can't the cantinas become hustling hubs for people to gather, couldn't there be something other than just killing NPC's and running past the very people who if united could keep a game strong.
  8. Tor really starts to show what was good about SWG. Shame Lucasarts decided to put all their eggs in one basket. SWG ****ed up no question there, it was more a case of pissing of the community than ruining the game (imo!), but I know it's a touchy subject. I think in it's final stage that game had so much to offer, you had the theme-parks, instances, heroics that actually meant something. But you more importantly a community, people would hang around in mos eisley cantina and just chat, role-play whilst reading a book or doing something else, it was a place to hang out. not just grind, lots of little extra quirks like life day, fishing, retro games inside the game, sabakk etc had a charm that kept you interested and made it more than just, shoot 5 spawns,,,level up...keep grinding and space at times really awed me it was impressively beautiful. Sure graphics are better in TOR but they aren't being used to impress the sceanary feels lacking sorry to say really I am. I wish it would suddenly pick up I want the star wars mmo we were promised. Look I'm trying to get along with Tor but the game feels shallow the universe feels small and unimpressive, Corusent feels cramped and bland... not like this impressive skyscrapper city, there's no sense of community at all in game, not even speech bubbles, it's people running past each other to go into a story area. That's all there is. Wish it was as good as KOTOR games were. OFF topic anyhoo...What I miss was the Concept Art wowing me making me think I'd be impressed by the sceanry vast skyscrappers, swamps...only to crush them when the game looks a cross over between clones wars animation and bland repetitive scenery. I don't think much of the graphics over all, I think more so the style, it lacks charecter or depth.
  9. I am finding the transition from SWG to SWTOR hard, I miss the feeling of a vast universe and having the freedom to just wander off on Naboo and do some sight seeing whilst slaughtering a few Gunguns or Hanging out in Mos Eisley Cantina chatting to real people, there was so many possibilities in SWG, you could happily fill your days with fishing the galaxies and growing flora or go out and be the fiercest PVPER in Restuss. I've had people quoting me the Bioware pitch that this is the "first true stroy-driven mmo". All I can see and maybe I'm off the Mark here...is it's your bog standard Themepark MMO and someones just replaced the dialogue boxes for Audio which I tend to get bored of and skip anyway. I still find myself going off to kill 5 of these or feel a quota and click 5/6 of these... I haven't played WoW or many other MMO's, but seems to me there are several features taken from the SWG"NGE" into SWTOR. I understand fully the detest of many to the NGE, but I think if you can look past the proffesion screw job to the features such as colour coding the command buttons, adding in the Tansari station for a starting point etc It wasn't all bad. is it me or the command bar layout and even the /laugh /cry are very similar commands to that of SWG. Is that just bog standard for games like WoW, Eve, Age of Conan etc? Anyway I hope everyone here is enjoying the game, I'm not here to spoil your fun, just voice my thoughts as I feel like I'm the only one here who isn't settling in. Could Bioware include speech-bubbles and a social aspect to the game as at the moment it's a world full of people doing 1 player missions with little or no interaction to fellow gamers, unless the mission requires teaming up. And for the record, NGE spaceflight ruled...sorry to go against the status quo but I loved being an Acepilot
