  1. Some macros are allowed. I asked a dev on these forums and he replied directly to me. I'm sure its there still if all old posts remain. The dev basically said that any macro is allowed, as long as it only activates 1 ability per macro use. Meaning, you could use a "priority" macro so that 1 button can be used to fire off several different attacks. As long as pressing the macro key only activates 1 ability for 1 GCD, you are fine. You can use that same macro and just spam it. So there are no complex, multi-ability macros but you really shouldn't be using macros that way in the first place. (In general...not a rule) --- Just for the non believers, here is an example of a very basic macro that has basically zero downside to use. Its not necessary by any means, but its just a small example of what is possible: Any time you use your rage builder (assault?) as a sith warrior, it always checks first to see if the rage builder with CD (battering assault?) is available. If not, it fires the non-CD version anyways.
  2. Do you use a game pad with a mini joystick on it for your arm that's not on the naga? Might work decently As far as class, right now the overall consensus is that Jugg is easier than a Merc to play well. They are opposite ends of the spectrum in survivability. Sniper would also be a good class to consider due to minimal movement. In very competitive PvP, there is no comparison at the moment because Juggs are arguably OP and Mercs are still struggling to be competitive on a regular basis
  3. A few days ago I killed someone with a 11,975 heatseeker in a warzone. But for some reason, the fly text and chat box text both said 11,975 but my "biggest hit" on the scoreboard was only like 11,550. Wonder what the discrepancy is.
  4. You really need your team to hit them before they come for you. Most of the time when we die quickly, its because our team stood there and waited instead of cutting them off or impeding them in some way I actually like this idea. Just to show the worst of the "oh sh*t" moments
  5. I wasn't comparing Merc to be better than another class or spec. I was simply giving my opinion to help people who feel its not viable at all. Its not easy being focused every single match, and occasionally having teammates blame you for any potential loss where you happened to die first (because you had 4 DPS on you, and no one healing). Its just a game and not real life, so its really not a big deal to play a non-OP toon. As long as you can contribute and have fun, thats all that should be expected. Its either: (1) Learn your escapes, or (2) Reroll. Now I'm just starting to ramble on....but when I play my Operative DPS, I'm usually the last one targeted as opposed to first as a Merc. Its completely the opposite. You are targeted last, and so you survive longer. Your scoreboard damage seems better because no one bothered you. And thus the image of the Merc suffers even more. There will never be a day where the community suddenly decides to kill PT or Juggs first in an arena, so Mercs seem to be forever stuck as initial focus targets of all arenas, regardless of any class improvements or player skill. It just comes with the territory.
  6. What I mean is, Sorc can Force Barrier. Stealthers can cleanse and Vanish, Warriors with Undieing Rage, etc. No matter how much better the other team is, these certain classes can extend their lives and escape. Merc has no choice but to take it like a man! Notice that you never hear about the above classes complaining about being globaled. They may lose the match, but those particular toons can always escape and delay. A Merc cannot do it as well as them and therefor is much more prone to early deaths, even in a win. Also it seems like at the end of your post, you are saying Juggs are even worse and die faster then Mercs?
  7. I want a wookie mount. I ride on his shoulders while eating popcorn. Recharge Item: You bend down and pump up your shoes like the old Reebok Pumps Head Slot similar to Rascal's Toothpick: Fake hillbilly teeth (adaptable, of course) Mount: Mini tricycle and Top Hat Mount: The old fashion bicycle with the huge wheel in front and small wheel in back. Faction specific versions.
  8. Here are random tips if you find yourself dieing too quickly: (mainly for arena) 1) Power Surge + Concussion Missile as an opener. If you can CC a DPS, you are less likely to explode as fast 2) Use Warzone Adrenal (and possibly Energy Shield) a few seconds before you get within 30m 3) When everyone jumps on you, switch to survival mode and don't try to simply out-DPS them 4) Dont use your stun breaker unless its the 2nd stun and your resolve is full (exception is if you are about to die) If you are lucky enough for them to not focus you at first, save Power Surge if possible. Its great if a straggler breaks off and comes for you. Its a guaranteed CC that they should not break, otherwise you net them. While they are CC'd for 8 seconds, you can get off several heals and start casting a Fusion or Tracer. My survivability went up slightly once I was familiar with my various escape tools and use them as reflex: 1) Jet Boost + Unload 2) Rocket Punch (root) + Hydraulic Overrides 3) Electro Dart 4) Power Surge + Concussion Missile 5) Electro Net Hydraulic Overrides and Jet Boost have a fairly short CD and so should be used (one or the other) as first options if possible. But if you're in an arena and the other team is stronger than yours and they choose to focus you, then you are probably going down regardless. Just accept it and use stall tactics described above. Just hope your team can 3 on 1 one of them before they can 3 on 1 you.
  9. ELO doesn't work. I played on a toon with 1400 rating, switched to a 1200 alt and played against the same opponents. --- If I have 3 hours to play, and some guy in PvE gear decides he wants to farm comms for that same timeframe, my W-L ratio is going to be horrible. That's why there needs to be a gear req. If you have 28k hp or less, you are most likely going to die in the first 10 seconds of the round and all 7 other players already know this. Have you never had that 27k hp Mando/Merc healer join the queue for hours at a time? He explodes within seconds of every match, pretty much guaranteeing you a loss.
  10. I think it would be cool to have a choice, if possible. Its less likely to make 1 item that everyone wants. Instead of suggesting specific items as requested, I am simply asking for a choice. 1) A choice between unique (even already existing) color crystals with expertise. (A Pair of crystals) 2) A choice between various pairs of pistols (or whatever weapon your class uses). These can be existing ones with particle effects added. (Revolver style, ray gun style, modern pistol, small gun, big gun, etc) 3) A choice between various helmets with particle effects on the eyes, or where ever looks cool. These can be existing helms with effects added. (Only a choice of helms that fit your armor type theme possibly)
  11. You did the boring job for your team and they should be thankful. However, there is always room to learn and adjust your tactics above and beyond what other players are doing. If you are defending a node the entire game, and the other team never sends anyone to attack it, and you are losing.....you should always consider leaving the node empty and going on the attack. But as I mentioned, both conditions must apply. 1) The other team ignores your node the entire game, and 2) You are losing and need to go for the very hard comeback win. Even then, its a risky tactic but you need to consider the alternative. If you are losing 100% to 20% and they haven't hit your node, what good are you doing there? The other team has shown they are going to stick with the current (winning) strat and stick to the 2 nodes they have. And when it drops to 100% to 10%....do you intend to wait out the remaining few minutes guarding a place that is clearly being ignored by your opponents? I am not saying to leave the node empty every time you are losing, but it should always at least be a consideration. When you are losing 100-10 or 100-20 or even 100-30, you need to drastically change things up. Leaving a node empty is a huge risk that can normally lose you the game, but in these cases the game is almost already lost and so there is little to lose, and much to gain.
  12. The reason its "somewhat of an exploit" is because of the effect they are going after. By using DPS/Heal Hybrid that counts as DPS, you are tricking the matchmaking. Normally, an average arena would be 3 DPS and 1 Heal on EACH team. So regardless of tactics, both teams at least have the same roles to work with. But if you hide your Tank as a DPS/Tank, and hide your healer as a DPS/Heals, the matchmaking pairs you against 4 DPS, when you really have a Healer AND a Tank. Arenas are a war of attrition. Attrition is the damage that occurs to both sides, regardless of winning or losing. Teams with no healers are more affected by attrition than a team with a healer. By using a Hybrid that counts as DPS, you are forcing your opponent to have a non-healer composition, while having a proper heal-capable team yourself. The problem is not specifically the classes or compositions or anything, its the fact that you are tricking the matchmaking and thus causing an unfair meta-advantage over other players that you should not have.
  13. Going with no expertise is like going to a raid in greens. I have full Obroan and I've only seen a handful of people with more bonus damage than me (not by much). But their expertise is low, and they actually do less (or equal) damage. The reason they do less damage is because I have 60% damage bonus from expertise. PvE players will have like 55-58% damage bonus, which means less damage. But the most important part is the mitigation you get from expertise. By using PvE gear, you are roughly on-par offensively, but as far as defense.....you are like a naked operative. You have poor mitigation, and have no positive benefits to show for it. Not to mention.....people can 3-4 shot you in open world PvP if you try to come at them in PvE gear. Just sayin. Because I'll have 60% damage bonus from expertise, above and beyond normal damage. You'll have 0% mitigation bonus to cancel it out.
  14. I have fully optimized Obroan already. Just need someone to confirm what PvE mods to test against and I will simply compare the stats and skip to the end of the debate. I personally doubt any PvE anything would be better because of expertise, but I'm always open to suggestions and checking out and testing what other people have discovered.
  15. I'll check this out and post the exact numbers so there is no more guess work. So I need to use non-BiS PvE weapons so they aren't too high of a level? 66's or 69's? My Obroan weapons are power surge. I'll compare them to PvE power surge weapons but someone confirm what level mods should I use?
