  1. I don’t know if the devs are monitoring this or not, but I just wanted to say that the current state of the economy is preventing me from returning to the game except to play alts at a low level. I recently logged into my first character who started on day one of SWTOR. I’ve been gone a good while and I only have about 34 million credits on her. At level 75 I cannot even afford green mods on the GTN. Honestly, I’m sure there is some way to make enough to participate meaningfully in the economy, but I just decided to let my time run out and stay gone. I do miss the game, but like a lot of MMOs once you’re gone it’s so hard to catch up. I don’t have an answer for that.
  2. While, I'm pleased for the end of the KOTFE/KOTET storyline, I think the developers wrote themselves into a corner. When my Jedi Sage said that she was tired of ruling the galaxy, I snorted in agreement. Glad for that nonsense to be done. But at this point, I don't see how we go neatly back into the old factions. The Commander is still pretty clear the de facto ruler of Zakuul and even without the Eternal Throne has grown beyond the Republic/Sith Empire. At the same time, the governments of both factions are still unstable. So it makes no sense for the Commander to go back to being even a high level member of either faction. At best, they should be assuming control of their faction. But more likely, we will be an allied nation to our original (or preferred) faction which will likely satisfy few.
  3. Musco is a great community manager. If SWTOR is headed for its last days, so be it. I’ll leave my thanks for Musco’s enthusiasm and ability to take this community in stride.
  4. What makes Copper a successful troll is that he is so obvious in his trolling that people feel the need to comment about why his trolling does or does not affect them. All the while, any response to the post is a success. I’m happy to feed this troll because I never fail to be amazed at how well this works.
  5. I’m ambivalent about this movie. I have to just ignore the plot devices like the First Order not being able to catch up with the Rebels. But what bothered me the most about this film is that there just seems to be nothing at stake. Consequential events from the first trilogy were effectively ignored. For example, Luke just would not have tried to kill his nephew nor would he have even formed such a thought. Luke immediately tried to redeem a father he never knew and who had cut off his hand. (Plot quibble: why did Luke’s cybernetic hand disappear when he gave himself to the force). And who the hell was Snoke and why did he not have a run in with Darth Sidious? I have a lot of small problems with the movie, but it was enjoyable to watch. I despair what it means for Star Wars though.
  6. Amazingly, I didn't lose any of my 32 character names on Satele Shan. I thought I would lose 1-2, but I guess my names are either unique enough or I'm enough of a loser to have a ton of playtime on all my characters.
  7. I don't know whether you should learn to play, but check the post date for the guy you quoted. I don't even remember who was on top then.
  8. Necromancy is bad for the soul.
  9. Well, you could walk up to them and look at them. Hmm... Nope, this isn't the guy, nope, not him. Oh there he is. You could /shout "Hey all you Kenobi guys, which one of you was the one on Bastion?" They could give everyone an account ID identifier that you actually have to tell. So mine could be @Master-Nala. To be fair that creates new problems for people who want to remain incognito. They could make your unique name only visible under certain circumstance (like by clicking the character) while their selected name is what shows on their name plate. So you select me and it says: Master Leroy Kenobi Kenobi 2 The Bad Jedi Master Legacy But when not selected it shows: Master Leroy Kenobi The Bad Jedi Master Legacy Or they could just give everyone free server transfers and people can decide for themselves whether they want their name or to play with other people. It's fixable, but they have to have the will to fix it. Like they suddenly decided that it made sense to get rid of that ridiculous server name Hot Prospect.
  10. The petition isn't legislation. It's too early to see what form this could take. It could be as easy as making it so that you need age verification before you can purchase from the Cartel Market. Alternatively, they could just shut down the UK server. Now that the UK has decided (for some reason) to leave the EU there's no reason for Bioware to create a separate service for this old game. They can just shut it off.
  11. I agree, but then this doesn't have anything to do with protecting kids. Those protections are already there. As consumers we just have to be OK with some people are willing to buy these things and some aren't. Random chance can suck, but it can also be really exciting when you win. It's that roller coaster of emotions that keeps the RNG in the game. For some folks it would get stale and boring real quick if you could buy whatever you want. I know not everyone feels that way, but some do. And so long as people are willing to drop serious money on it, the game companies will supply it.
  12. To be honest, I don't think that's what's driving a lot of people. The mobile companies have already put in a LOT of safeguards that will stop children from running up $1000 bills on your ipad. The Itunes and App Store for example asks me before allowing my kids to buy anything. One can do the same here. The game allows you to shut off in-game purchases of Cartel Coins. You could add a PIN number to any purchase from the store and BOOM, done. No, what I think drives this is that folks just don't want this type of stuff in the game because they feel like they should be able to earn every item in the game. This is the same complaint that has been going on for over a decade with respect to F2P games.
  13. This game is rated "TEEN". PG 13 is a motion pictures association rating. This petition is very far from being a law and it's not clear at all whether any eventual law would affect loot boxes. Loot boxes include a random collection of items, but you always get whats on the package. You just might not get exactly what you want. I don't understand why people get so bent out of shape about loot boxes. If you don't want to buy them, then don't. I don't. There are plenty of items in the game for people to use. This doesn't have anything to do with SWTOR, in any event. They are targeting gatcha games on mobile where people can drop hundreds a month like its nothing. I would bet that there are few, if any, actual kids playing this game.
  14. Eh, sticks and stones and all that. The name was dumb, not offensive. Musco should have been slapped for suggesting naming a server after a minor characters junker ship.
