  1. Hey fellow Mandos and Mercs... Long time player returning after a hiatus and holy $#!* all the color crystals. I've been experimenting with different colors, but can't settle on one. To me, the black cored crystals look great on sabers, but the effect doesn't seem to translate to blaster bolts very well. It's been difficult to find pics, videos, or discussions on the interwebs specifically about the cannons and blasters. Appreciate any feedback.
  2. /bump I'm having this exact same problem with the error message. I'm very far from a technical wiz, but I tried the repair utility to no avail. I also uninstalled the game, reinstalled and attempted to open the launcher to finish downloading and still received the same error. I attempted to again install and re-run the repair utility and I'm still receiving this message. Would really appreciate any advice. I still have the old CDs from release, I'm not sure if that would help.
  3. I did that exact same thing and there's no PvP guide for my beloved class...
  4. I've just come back after a six month break (been PvPing since right after launch) and am currently wrapping my head around the stat changes for 4.0. I understand most of it, but I'm not sure how to augment my PvP gear. I've seen a few with Mastery augs but quite a few more with Power augs. To a lesser extent I've also seen a mix of Power and Crit augs as well. I main a Gunnery Mando / Arsenal Merc. I'd appreciate any feedback, or if there's an existing post, please point me to it (can't seem to find it). Thank you.
  5. I've been maining a Commando since a few months after launch. I'm not sure, but I might be able to tell one spec from another: shien, soresu, etc? You don't "need" the accuracy. And my point about it not mattering was that with a new set of gear and depending on new skills, stat weights, etc it all may be subject to change in 4.0. I've geared for crit and I've geared all power surge with zero additional accuracy. And I do exceedingly well. If you're gearing just to blow up a sniper, all the best to you, but you're doing it wrong. You're the last of their concerns next to Madness, AP, Sins, etc. To OP, go with what Crinn and Foxmob said, they won't lead you wrong. I wouldn't spend all your comms on multiple gear sets to test it out given we are two months out from 4.0, but you'll never go wrong by not exceeding 25% crit and hitting around 75% surge, do what you want with the rest of your budget.
  6. First of all no, second of all know their cooldowns (Evasion) and don't waste your ranged damage (HiB, unload, full auto, etc) during that time. You'll do fine with no accuracy in a PvP environment. Besides you have bigger concerns as a Mando than killing a Sniper. As far as I'm aware you hit DR hard after 25% crit...don't waste your stat budget, especially if the IO tree provides boosts (I'm Gunnery / Arsenal). I've inspected all the top Mercs and Mandos on the couple of servers I play on and there's not a piece of accuracy among them. In about two months none of this will matter anyway.
  7. My two cents: get rid of all accuracy in your PvP gear (only absolutely necessary for PVE) and I thought surge hit DR at 75 not 70%? I'm sure someone will confirm this. Generally you want to gear for Power / Surge. Make sure you have the power proc and main stat relics too. Check out the Mando forums too, there's a great discussion on which utilities to take as well: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=818648 It starts near the bottom of the first page and continues throughout. And the Dark Reaver enhancements are sold between the Guardian and Sage PvP vendors. And always run your purple reflex stim.
  8. I get what you're saying and I've done my fair share of "overly enthusiastic" coaching. I do what I'm supposed to do in WZs and it's beyond frustrating some of the stupid things people do. My point is that people can be taught rather than simply raged at like a lot of players do. If people are purposefully awful, there's nothing you can do and raging won't change them. I think my point and the point of the thread was the Napoleon complex some kids have in that they are superior human beings because...pixels. They talk down rather than help and if someone doesn't want help, you just have to accept it and move on. It's wasted emotional energy. Nothing soothes the irritation of stupid warzone losses like an old single malt scotch and some beautiful company.
  9. A long time ago I actually played college football (Division III) and competed on a national level in Muay Thai. I'm in my late thirties now, and this is my first MMO, but there's an enormous difference between a sports team / league and a MMO community: namely, there's no anonymity when your opponent is in your face. This has a tendency to keep trash talk down and you better make sure if you open your trap, you can back it up. Generally speaking, the MMO community appears to be comprised of nerds (I'm one but larger than most) but the most toxic are those that wouldn't dare speak to someone like that in real life because they'd get popped in the mouth. An MMO allows them complete anonymity and a way to bully they way they might've been bullied. I've met and competed against plenty of real life bad *****3$ and 99% aren't trash talkers.
  10. I've actually been swapping between both Pyro and AP. I enjoy Pyro immensely, but...
  11. Thank you. I've tanked for quite awhile in PvP and with a competent healer I can be a little lax in my DCD management. Now that I'm trying my hand at DPS, the order I tossed out there is best (sorry if I'm being dense)? At what point do you pop the shield, etc and would you ever combine the shield and adrenal? Thanks again
  12. As the title states, I'd like to hear the PvPr's opinion on the timing of defensive cooldown usage / staggering in that environment: energy shield, warzone adrenal, warzone medpack, kolto overload. Just trying to really maximize my play and use those DCDs in the proper sequence and situation. Thanks and happy hunting.
  13. Been playing since launch and it's my first MMO. I'm in my thirties with a family and career and all that comes with it. Couldn't agree with you more. Juleswinfield 2016!
  14. No no no. Not with the current damage profile in PvP. There's arguments on both sides for PvE, but it's not applicable to PvP. Endurance (including augs), then shield, then absorb, no defense whatsoever, including relic. Go with straight damage reduction relic and the shield/absorb relic. In min/maxed rank gear I'm at 55k health and something like 36% shield, 38% absorb. Edit: If Crinn pokes his head in here, do what he says.
  15. Is it frustrating? Absolutely...but it is a game, right? And EA/BW already have a track record as Ransu clearly stated. So coming on the forums and nerd raging will surely solve the issue? You should never be surprised when a new patch comes out. You should just have a certain morbid curiosity about what they'll break next. Go outside, get some sun, and wait for the fix which will eventually come. Calm your **** was my point.
