  1. WoW - 4 years (4 yrs quit after BC) WAR -2 years Aion - 1 year RoM - 1 year in 2009 started to follow GW2. All MMO's have been filler for GW2 since then, I started all of the following games with this in mind. GW1 - 1.5 years(got 30/50 HoM points and quit) WoW Cata - 1 year SW:TOR - Played since release, sub runs out Apr. 22, wont resub, havent played in a few days. I have 2 50's one of each faction and about 4 level 30ish toons. SW:TOR has good story, i will give it that. I have done only a few HM dungeons and the PVE is just like every other MMO, Tank/Heal/DPS/dont stand in stuff. My guild of 4 spend most of our time PVPing which is ok in SW:TOR but nothing new, i will say that i am one of the few that like Huttball because its different. Open world PVP is all but dead and Ilum was a huge disaster anyway. I would have quit this game even without GW2 on the horizon. After you're done with your personal story its just WoW with lightsabers and less depth. Granted WoW has been around for, what?, 7 years and blizzard has had time to perfect PVE. SW:TOR has potential and i think it will sustain enough subs to break even but thats about it. There arent enough hardcore starwars nerds(not that you have to be a starwars freak to like swtor) to turn the profit Bioware thought they would. TL;DR SW:TOR has potential and they are patching in some good stuff in every patch. But it doesnt do PVE as good as WoW and it doesnt do PVP as good as GW2 will. Its just a clone of many MMOs with tired ideas but flashy light sabers. So if you like gear ladders and fresh(but similar) PVE content on a regular basis play WoW. If you like competitive PVP and fresh ideas and a company that is willing to break the 10 yr MMO mold play GW2. If you like the starwars universe and good story telling play SW:TOR.
  2. sadly lightsabers do not equal compelling/fun pvp or pve or combat. Not that swtor is terrible and not that everyone including me doesnt like lightsabers...its just the novelty of lightsabers will diminish faster than fun combat and world pvp(no ilum doesnt count).
  3. You and the OP can duel eachother after GW2 comes out as you will be the last 2 remaining.
  4. Weird, i guess over 1500 dynamic events and the, quote from press beta testers, "hardest dungeons I've ever encountered" don't count? Oh noes they dont have traditional raids that are more about bickering, setup time, and loot arguments then actual time spent killing dragons. Its funny how people complain about WoW and other games because its the same old thing(gear ladder and raids) and they want something new, but when a game comes out that has new ideas and features those same people complain that this game doesn't have the thing in it that made me leave my old game. Honestly i dont know why i'm even posting in this thread, you and your 7 friends can play against the other 100 people in SWTOR that are left after GW2 releases, it won't hinder my enjoyment.
  5. SWTOR will follow in WAR's footsteps and die, all games die, and lol if you thing GW2 will resemble GW1 in anything but names. GW2 will kill SWTOR subs(and many other games subs). And for those like you that need a carrot to play a game instead of playing it because its fun, GW2 won't need you. How dare they make pvp based on skill and not gear then how can i faceroll undergeared players!!!1!! Continue to let your gear and carrot carry you.
  6. this will simply change the order i do my dailies. I will do my WZ wins first then go to ilum to finish any kills i need.
  7. from what ive heard you get 3 ilum "kills" for each wz you finish. It has nothing to do with actual kills in the wz
  8. Do you really think BW can do anything to this game to save it after GW2 releases? This game has had an expiration date since day one, its just that Arena Net(GW team) hasn't released when that expiration date will be.
  9. Agreed, i reread my post and i see that is how it came off, my bad. Medals do show that you are doing good things however, bad players wouldnt be aware of what these good things were. A player that taunts and guards will get medals and is also a better player then someone who does not use these skills(yes i know not all players can guard/taunt its an example). Facts are that most medals reward you for a good thing(not in all situations), someone who just presses tracer missile will not get as many medals as someone who knows how to play their class. Anyway, to the OP's point, why add 13 something medals in 1.2 if you are basically making them worthless in 1.1.5? It gives players something else to do when winning is either not possible due to a bad team or if you are on the other side of the coin and winning is inevitable and you want to do more.
  10. actually not true at all. winning now is 8 medals worth of valor and 4 medals worth of coms. So, winning with 4 to 5 medals was always better then losing with 10 medals. Also, people saying that you cant contribute to a win and get 10 medals are terrible at pvp. I easily get 9 to 10 medals a match(with the exception of huttball, as its harder for melee,or anyone, to get medals there while trying to win) and it usually only takes me about 4 WZ's to get my 3 wins as republic. And no, im not being carried while farming medals, you just have to be conscious of what medals you can get in different situations and execute correctly. Granted there are times in Civil War or voidstar where i have to guard a turret/door most of the match and i dont get more then 3ish medals, but luckily i play with friends and once they have 9 or so we will switch who gets to watch the boring side. TL;DR People who are better then you should be rewarded accordingly. Would it be cool if after you killed the first 4 bosses in a raid the next 6 didnt drop loot because not everyone is good enough to kill them? i didnt think so. Thanks.
  11. Why are there even merc tokens? Its just 30 WZ tokens and i think thats the only way to get them...soooo why not just raise the cap on WZ tokens to 4k and make a bm com cost 4k? OR make a system less random then the current bag system but less grindy then what the new system will be.

    Timer on Voidstar

Full door is 20 seconds, so each quarter is 5 seconds. Sometimes if you buff the afk timer will reset.
  13. I am the exact opposite of you. I quit WoW because it was just one big gear grinding ladder. Get T10 be bamf...1 month later T11 comes out and you start all over again. You do another grind and another grind. I hope that GW2 is just fun to play and thats why i will keep playing. There are many different dungeons that all have different looking gear so that is kind of a carrot i guess. This seems a to be a huge generalization based off of beta videos. You are of course entitled to your opinion and im glad to see that you said you would try it first. But i think that a lot of the videos look the way you say because they are taken from people who have spent maybe a few hours with the game. Team work and the like come from learning what works and what doesnt. I love the fact that there is no trinity, i play a healer mostly because its needed but i enjoy mage types much more. With the ele i think i can get both as the water style is said to be a little more support(healing rain). I love that people will be responsible for themselves for once. A tank or healer wont be yelled at for not carrying a bad dps.
  14. There is nothing SWTOR can do to stop me and my guild from switching to GW2. We all picked up SWTOR(and Cata) as filler and i must say going from the 25+ keybinds to 10 is going to be nice. Just the hot join servers of GW2(fps style servers) will make me change, no queuing, just pick a server and hop in. Also the 5v5 tournament brackets will add some great high end pvp. WvWvW is just icing on the cake imo.
