There's usually about 200 for me at any given time, but I'm empire.

It must be something on my end then. Even if I do force it through control panel, it doesn't do anything for me.

It smooths out jagged edges as stated above, but I think it still needs to be fixed due to the fact that it doesn't really make a difference when you turn it on.
