  1. If you are playing with tanks and healers who think they are better because they are tanks and healers, well.... find new friends. No one part of the Ops group is more important generally. There are fights where things are reliant on the tank, or heavy heals, or burst DPS but it isn't every fight. Anyway, I did allow myself to get off topic a little. by counter productive I mean, when I first read about the game they wanted to make things customizable, almost every class could do most things (not always well but they could do it.), it seems that by forcing enrage timers you can't be either. Your class must be of a good spec rather than a jack of all trades spec and you have to have tier armor (which, for the sorc is fugly... I like my PvP set so much more).
  2. The difference with that fight is, it isn't an instant death and he doesn't get more powerful, also unlike the previous fight (Infernal Council), if one person isn't pulling their weight, the other dps can pick up the slack. On the Infernal Council, if one person isn't pulling the their weight, the encounter resets and you can't do a whole lot to help them.
  3. Try doing the SOA fight on NM with 14 tanks... You HAVE to have DPS otherwise everyone gets trapped in the prisons. I actually love that fight... when it doesn't glitch. It use's various mechanics that will stop bad players without having a hard enrage.
  4. Sense of accomplishment comes when you beat it on Nightmare and get your spiffy title.
  5. Attack the posters! You didn't read an earlier post. WE have cleared all Normal mode Operations and Hard Mode Eternity Vault. Going to be trying HM Kaaraga soon. I play a sorc, I know that I personally have the highest dps in my ops group and I am quite good with my sorc. I am the person who researches and switches to the highest dps spec at least until I am geared nicely, then I will switch to what I prefer to play. My point is, Enrage timers pose no ACTUAL value. If a Ops is good and they down the boss in 2 minutes, what harm comes to them if another op takes 7 hours to kill the same boss? What does it matter if another Ops that isn't as good as yours can clear the same content you can but they take 10 times longer.
  6. I don't think a lack of enrage timers would stop progression or hurt professions. Just the opposite. More people would be able to progress because the "casual" guilds would be able to do it, even if it takes them longer. Professions would benefit because now orange gear would actually be worth something at 50 and as such, would sell better. As a side note, If people only were the optimal spec for DPS, everyone would role the same class. Let's say the Sniper was able to pull 2K DPS while the Other DPS classes are at 1.6K and 1.4K. You are being penalized for not being a Sniper at that point and by some peoples opinion this board are a bad player because you did not choose the obvious best class and dps spec.
  7. Part of me feels they are an easy way out for a dev. Rather then building new, interesting an innovative mechanics to keep our players challenged, let's throw an enrage timer on there and move on. Get the content completed within the next month so we can start on the new content do out the following month. Let's keep throwing the same things at them with different skins, more HP and More damage.
  8. Enjoyment. What if I like they way my Lightning Sorc works more then using the DOTs of a Madness spec. The game should be played because it is a game and you should get enjoyment out of it. You should not have to be a lemming to push content.
  9. My Ops group has completed Hard Mode Eternity Vault a few times and We are starting on Hard Mode Karagga. We are not having issues with enraged times, it is just something occurred to me. We tend to have some people who Min Max that end up picking up slack for the one or two people who don't, it seems to end up putting more stress on the Min Maxer. We could tell the people who would rather enjoy to the game to switch specs and exactly what gear they are allowed to wear but it seems to me that would scare them off, and we like them as people, and they are our friends. Why would we force them to do something they don't want?
  10. So, everyone should have the exact same spec all the time just because it is the "best" spec? I think that's rather boring. I would rather see a that Madness Sorc play lightning Sorc if he wants to, instead of being forced to Madness / Hybrid because it has 100 more dps according to the theory crafters. Gear checks shouldn't be needed. If a team of people is good enough and well coordinated enough, player skill should matter more then if they are wearing a set of armor that makes their toon look the way they want (especially on an RP server). If they don't have the dps but do have the stamina to spend 30 minutes on a boss fight, let them. Why should everything be cookie cutter? Same Spec, Same Gear, same problems as WoW and every other MMO. It gets boring.
  11. I want to start a discussion on what people thing of Enrage timers. Are they Counter Productive? Meaning, do they force people to Min / Max their character, switch to a spec they wouldn't normally do just to make sure they have enough damage to kill some boss? I personally think they take enjoyment out of the game when every single boss mod has one. I can understand one or two having one but not everything being in existence gets stronger the longer a fight is. Being forced to change specs to get that extra bit of DPS, or Damage Mitigation or to be able to heal 5% better is well, stupid. Opinions?
  12. Is it just me or does the game feel incomplete? They Announce the legacy system but no actual features are there when the game launches. No Guild banks, or guild talent point system (wouldn't it be nice if a guild talent was say, reducing the 18 hour cool down on the emergency fleet transport). Illum has quest bugs that make it so Imperials at least can't complete two of the daily quests and because I am 50 and my guildies are not, I don't have much else to do besides PvP / Illum. I hate queuing for PvP solo as if there is a pre-made with 4 people of any level, odds are I am going to loose with my complete group of pugs. Space missions at 50 are largely useless, I am forced to go back and finish several quests I don't care about just because I can't drop them (Yes, I know next big patch it will be fixed). There is a least one Datacron on Alderon I can't get because of my body type. A bunch of little things with a few big things add really quick.
  13. SO, when you RE an item, is there only one possible schematic you can get from it or will I have to RE certain items 100 times to get all the different combinations of "upgrades"?
