Alright folks yet another Tech Analysis thread, this time we shall be looking into Grenades! YAY! Take note, this isn't specific to any type of particular grenade, just to cover the basic mechanics of how one would operate. So without further ado let us begin!

Rundown

The ability to cause sudden, disruptive chaos on the battlefield can mean the difference between victory or defeat. One of the most effective ways of achieving this is through explosives, especially hand sized thermal detonators and grenades. Such weapons not only cause mass destruction and death by disorienting smoke, noises, fire or flashes of light, they are easy to carry and use, can be intimidating, can take out multiple targets with one explosion and are attractive to mercs and bounty hunters.

Most grenades are high yield explosives, designed to detonate within seconds of activation, attackers just need to depress a trigger switch before throwing. Timing is critical, if thrown to early the enemy could flee or send it right back, yet thrown to late it could explode in mid-air harmlessly.

Perhaps the most powerful and infamous of explosive devices are the thermal detonators which resembles a standard grenade but is more powerful. Of course given that the baradium is unstable, it can explode if dropped, jarred or exposed to intense heat due to this thermal detonators are illegal throughout the galaxy for civilians and the only way to obtain them is through military sources or the black market.

Standard explosives are common upon standard grenades, but Merr-Sonn and other companies also produce speciality grenade types such as Glop grenades, Cryoban grenades, Stun grenades, Smoke grenades, Impact grenades and Chemical grenades. Grenades have numerous military application, however can also be used for industrial purposes aswell such as large scale demolitions, Proton Grenades are usually used for this.
