This has been going on for a few patches now and I stay connected to my internet but have been more frequently been getting a red dot . My Latency rises and falls and rises again. So it seems that it is more game related then on my end. happened tonight in HM TFB. It also happens in PVP, and questing.

I have contacted them before and I state again there has been know issues on my side. If it was ISP it would happen all the time, but it only happens in game and not playing anything else on my PC.

Alright. Just on a whim, I decided to do the tracert and path ping while I had the game running to see if I would yield different results. Here is what I didn't get.

I am on Jedi Covenant. I live in Florida. I'm sick and tired of this lag. I just bought this laptop up my gaming experience, and so far, my garbage tower runs with a better connection for some reason. I would just like a reasonable solution to the issue, so I can enjoy the game, that I just started paying for.

Have you run pathping successfully before ?

Edited - I would of just said your ISP is just killing ICMP packets at the router not much you can do about that.

You could ask them to do a pathping to the servers to see if they can see anything in the results from their network.

I have run one before. I believe it is posted on page two of this topic. That is the tracert and pathping from when I had the game running (pg5) and sitting consistently at about 5kms at the moment in game.

How do we actually know they are looking into this? I am serious, I have posted my info multiple times and I have yet got an acknowledgement that "we are looking into it". The game is completely unplayable at times, and tire dot getting tossed to Server select screen or even attempting to tank in a Op when you are showing 1 Red dot.

I experience the very sme issue - random nights - not all the time but when it happens it sucks. I've seen the latency climb to almost 300k ms - happened a few times last year before I quit the game - came back a month ago and am still running into the issue:

I took this tracert while a spike was happening:

Spoiler

Then I checked netstat and found a different IP that swtor was connected to and here is the tracert to that (during a spike):

Spoiler

Here is the other information that was requested:

1. I'm in Kansas.
2. ISP is AT&T using their U-verse internet connection.
3. Server is Jedi covenant
4. tracerts are above
5. pathping info down below

Spoiler

I can see the high latency on the second hop of my tracerts but I don't know what to do with that information. Any advice would be great - thanks.

thing is that there is nothing you can do as an individual in that sense. for that matter there isn't much bioware can do either. unfortunately, the way the internet is set up means that there are always factors in between that are not in our control or bioware's. this is not a direct server to client connection between us and the server. there are so many hops along the way between ISPs and other service providers and that is usually where the lag originates
Tanking is a Skill - Healing is an Art - DPS is a Science

I understand that. But I dont understand how this is the only MMO that I play that has this issue. No lag spikes or anything on any other game. Maybe just a single route that is having latency issues but it happens often enough to not just be a one time thing.

Try playing with a wired connection first up to see if it still occurs, it appears the issue is either between your computer and router or the router and ISP end.

Same as this guy gets lag spikes in his game http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/43...legends-2000ms

Do a google of any MMO with lag spike and it isn't just something that affects swtor.

You could try disabling IPv6 for example http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929852

Running tracert and pathpings are good to have
