I just started playing this game on my new rMBP and noticed it gets so hot that my fingers cannot even type on the keyboard while playing because the machine gets so hot. I was wondering if anyone else was having the same issue.

When I bought my Macbook Pro, the little magnet-thingy charger head seriously overheated to the point of burning my leg.

Got it to the store, was defective, traded the whole laptop. Never had overheating problems anywhere in it ever since.

If it is still in warranty, I'd try that, I play sometimes on my Macbook Pro when I am on the go and don't have such problems. Said that, it does get hot like every laptop, but not this hot.

How long ago was this? Did you bootcamp or parallel? And how did they determine it's defective? Thanks for your response!

Last year, but the overheating problem had nothing to do with gaming. Just said it to let you know overheating anywhere ain't normal on a Macbook Pro ^^

I left it with those Genius guys. One day later they called me, explained everything and in a few days I got a new Macbook pro (with all my data from the previous one in the new one for free, nice guys).

Nowadays I play bootcamping and with this non-defective MacBook Pro I get 0 heating issues anywhere in it. But as I said every laptop is expected to run games hot, precisely around 75~90 C in standard external temperature (293K or 20 C, don't knowhow this translates into Fahrenheit).

So perhaps, the issue is not the temperature, but the thermal insulation. Take it to the nearest Apple Store to get it checked.

Got it. Thanks. I ran a temperature check while in bootcamp windows during gaming and saw all 4 cores running at 90 plus celsius. This would be normal except...my fingers burn. Will check it out!

You welcome mate, and if it i still in Warranty, whatever the issue is, you won't spend half a penny

I would advise you to reread my post though. I fixed the mess I made with the numbers after you quoted it

You're running swtor in a virtual machine?

Try boot camping instead. Your computer won't have to run OSX, parallels, windows and swtor then

Doesn't a Macbook Pro have a Nvidia Geforce GT 650M with 2GB GDDR5 Ram you should be able to play any game on that laptop with Mac Boot Camp.

I tried bootcamp first, and the machine literally gets too hot for my fingers to use. I now have it open in parallels, and it's not nearly as hot, but still a little warm and has worse performance.

It runs the game like a champ. But roasts my fingers. Still looking for someone who plays this on a rMBP.
