So, if you preordered from Origin you are screwed?

I read the following somewhere on this board not that long ago:

"If you pre-ordered a digital version of the Game on Origin...the official Game Product Registration Code of your digital edition will be emailed to the email address associated with your pre-order starting on December 16th at 8:00AM PST."

Does that mean that no matter when you pre-ordered you won't be able to get in until the 16th at the very earliest? Am I missing something here?

The EGA code and your product code are two completely different things.

No, that's the code you have to enter before the 20th to register the full game. You're actually in a better position since you dont have to worry about mail screw ups.

No, they give you a pre-order code right away. As long as you redeem that code, you'll be in the early acesss at sometime.

The retails codes need to be input by the 20th, so as long as you have it by then you'll be able to keep playing.

I just PO'd mine on the 13th from Origin and they sent my the product registration code...After redeeming this code and looking under Pre-order in My Account options states that I am eligible for EGA and to just wait for e-mail. So to answer your question, no you are not screwed redeem your code and look under Pre-order on the My Account page and see what it says.

Thats the actual retail code. The code you enter to prove you bought the game, and which version. The pre-order code was given at the time of pre-ordering.

For instance, I pre-ordered from origin on July 21st, and I got in yesterday.

If you ordered from Origin there are two e-mails. The first comes immediately with a pre-order code and the second will come in the next couple of days (I think they said the 16th for all Origin pre-orders) with the actual game code. The fact that you can post means that you have a valid pre-order entered.

The thread you saw was a fairly lame attempt at a troll that was promptly pointed out by a bunch of people on the first page of the thread.

No. Like others have posted, your product code and your pre-order code are not the same thing.

I pre-ordered the DDE off of Origin and got in on the very first wave.

That's your retail key from Origin. Just enter it before the 20th. If you don't you will be cut off from the game (no grace period).

It is no secret that I work for EA, and part of my job is support for Origin sales.

Origin will begin sending out product codes to customers who purchased a Digital copy of SWTOR on the 16th, not everyone will get them on the 16th, but it will start.

You will still get early access if you registered your pre-order code. Bioware has control of when you get in, Origin cannot help with this.

Registering your product code will NOT get you into early access faster, nor will it keep you from getting in. Once you get that code, you register it and you will be good to go on the 20th when the game goes "live" for everyone.

There has been a lot of false info spread around lately about Origin and pro-order sales.

Origin is working to make sure everyone who has an order in won't miss a day of the game because they didn't have product key.
