When you try to run the Launcher(and it appears in the Task Manager but not on screen) please go to this location:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\BioWare\Star Wars - The Old Republic

Here, you should find a folder called 'Patch', please delete this.

Please also ensure that your Java is up to date.

Once this is complete, please run FixLauncher.exe(also in the above location), then please try to start the Launcher again.

I also recommend that you ensure you have the latest Service Pack and Windows Updates installed for your operating system, including the optional updates such as .NET framework and Visual C++ features.
Everyone else encountering this error seems to be able to follow these instructions for a quick fix. However when I go into:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\BioWare\Star Wars - The Old Republic
There is no folder called "Patch" to delete.

Greetings Etot,

Is there a Launcher process running in your Task Manager when you check that location for the 'Patch' folder?

Yes I checked while launcher.exe was running and still no folder. The only thing relative to patching is a file called "patcher.version"

Greetings Etot,

Please try reinstalling the Launcher again.

Go to www.swtor.com/download and download the setup file again and run it.(Please run the file as Administrator and add an exception for SWTOR_setup.exe to your firewall and anti-virus software).

This will reinstall the Launcher, it will not download the game content again.

Please also ensure that you run the Launcher with Administrator privileges.

We hope this resolves the issue for you!

I have the same issue on my computer. I have contacted customer service about this and have had no response. I use computers to play. Since I have been able to play some on one computer the other one still doesn't work and have sent separate tickets on this issue.

And it still didn't work! I don't know what to do at this point. I've tried running everything in Compatibility mode, I've run everything as admin, and added permissions to Anti-virus and firewall for everything... Any ideas left at all?

Greetings Etot,

Please remove and re-add exceptions for your Launcher again in your anti-virus and firewall programs.

Please also ensure that Peerblocker is disabled.

Can you see a patch folder now when you try to run the Launcher?
