Class stories for Kashyyyk

I am fully aware that individual class stories have been put on the back burner for the foreseeable future but I thought I might offer some thoughts on possible Ideas for some on the planet Kashyyyk anyway. This is not a thread to talk about the direction of the game however so If you want to say that this will never happen please comment elsewhere.

Kashyyyk Expansion Title: Shadowlands Descent

Smuggler story: The smuggler is in need of special equipment for a special cargo run. The one person they know that has the item is a top notch wookie Engineer on Kashyyyk. On arrival to the planet they find that he was captured by a trandoshan slaving operation while trying to rescue his son. The smuggler chases them down in order to get the part they need (hopefully at a substantially reduced cost)

Jedi Knight story: the Jedi Knight has been asked by the order to investigate a small group of people suffering from lingering voices from the emperor. The groups location is unknown but one of them happened to stumble into one of the cities on Kashyyyk and can possibly lead the Jedi to the rest of the afflicted group.

Jedi Consular story: The consular has been asked by the other masters to travel to Kashyyyk to observe a group of promising new prospects to the Jedi order. They were sent to the planet as part of what was to be both a training exercise and diplomacy mission. When the consular arrives on the planet they find that the mission has run into trouble and must find the missing padawans

Trooper story: Havoc Squad has been tasked by the senate to deal with a particularly troublesome group of trandoshan slavers that have arrived on Kashyyyk. The slavers have been capturing young wookies that are going through their right of passage in the shadowlands.

Bounty Hunter story: The Bounty Hunter has been hired by the Empire to deal with a powerful wookie that has been interfering with the empire backed slaving operations on Kashyyyk. The Empire planes to use the wookies to help rebuild the fleet after the losses in previous areas.

Sith Inquisitor story: The Inquisitor is made aware of the lost rakata relics on Kashyyyk. The whereabouts of one such relic is in the hands of one of the transdoshan slavers on the planet. The inquisitor heads to Kashyyyk to see what power can be found in the dark depths of the shadowlands.

Sith Warrior story: The Emperors Hand have tasked the warrior with finding a lost relic of dark side power that they say will hasten the recovery of the master. The artifact was lost when a small imperial ship was brought down over Kashyyyk.

Imperial Agent story: The Imperial Agent has been made aware of a force user who is slowly building an army that will alter the balance of power between the Empire and Republic. The base of operations is located somewhere on Kashyyyk.

There is plenty more to flesh out from all this but I though it would be nice to jot it all down. I was kind of thinking that all of these might lead to something in the Hapes Consortium afterward since even thought it isn't mentioned much some references to it still exist in the game (i.e. Rainbow crystals). I believe that the transitory mists that surround those planets are a celestial construct similar to The Maw and much of the Corellia system. Things like that could always lead to interesting gameplay. Thoughts and comments are always appreciated but please keep them constructive.

I got one for IA.

The Minister of Intelligence has called you to discuss a new situation while also helping to rebuild Imperial Intelligence (have a small chit chat about rebuilding). Next he shows you a holorecording of a sloppy assassination on a Moff while spear-heading a conquest on (insert planet). The assassin was disguised as a bodyguard, and the Moff was getting suspicious. The Moff has been seriously injured, the assassin had a shootout with the other body guards, only to stealth run away from the bodyguards.

You are to go to planet and locate your target, you and your crew are to interrogate him on your ship on who he works for. When you do locate him, It turns out his employer saw the job and is sending bounty hunters to destroy your ship (allows imperial agent to get a new starship?) before you learn any more information. You and your crew go on individual escape pods back to the planet separating you from your crew before your ship explodes. You are stranded and on the run from the Bounty Hunters.

This is what i got so far.

I still have a plan on:

-Moff's importance for Imp Intelligence (Maybe sent to a hospital on manaan)

-assassin left on the ship

-how to get a new ship stranded on the planet. (maybe Imperial Intelligence can send you a new one or you buy from a vendor?)

*depending on what planet, the imperial agent will have to find their crew members. Lokin's escape pod was close to the assassin's hideout and he has discovered a camouflaged entrance. Temple's escape pod has been tracked by bounty hunters and has been taken off planet to the mysterious leader. Kaliyo's pod landed in a gigantic monster's nest and is trying to eat her in the pod. Vector's pod is located by Scorpio where they are fending off bounty hunters.

I have an idea for trooper.

CIVIL WAR! now before you yell at me, listen:

There is a civil war on the Wookie homeworld. General Garza thinks it has to do with an Imperial Moff who escaped from the rest of the others on order of The grand Moff, Ilyan Regus. Havoc Squad is sent to defuse the situation, get the Wookies on the Republic side, and take down the Moff.

So I was busy working on a way to combine the stories into one arc for each side and came up with this. A few notes before I post it all. First of all it is a bit wordy. It's a basic concept and meant to give some details about what would happen. if you don't want to read long articles then this isn't for you. Second, This is just a concept I came up with on my own and is not related to work from Bioware in any way. I've only started working to enter the game design business and the Bioware staff is a team with a lot more experience and talent then I have by myself. Please approach this with an open mind and if there are things that you do not like then comment on them with a level of constructive criticism.

Kashyyyk Expansion concept: The Shadowlands Descent

Major Characters Introduced:

Jedi Master Soren Valbrand - A Jedi master that has served the order for decades, he is a twilek that has great faith in both his abilities and those of the members of the order that serve alongside him. While he is very capable he does not have the strength or force ability that is required to serve on the Jedi Council. He hopes that the apprentice that was assigned to him will be able to surpass him in all aspects of the force and accomplish all the things he could not do. To that end, Master Valbrand has been training his apprentice in all types of force mastery. Some of these Training regimes are meant for students with more experience in the force but that hasn’t deterred either the master or the apprentice.

Jedi Padawan Camillus Devota - A young human male, Camillus was only recently assigned to serve as the apprentice to Master Valbrand. His young age hasn’t given him much time to experience the galaxy outside the Jedi Temple and as such he doesn’t know much beyond what he learned from the orders teachers and Soren. In terms of ability, Camillus is a gifted user of the force, especially healing abilities. He has basic sparring abilities but never excelled in lightsaber practice. His sheltered life has led him to believe that the Jedi Order and the Republic that they protect are infallible and will do everything to protect its citizens even if means that they have to lose a bit of ground to the Empire.

Lord Kollvein – An apprentice to Darth Marr. Lord Kollvein is a Sith with many ambitions. Chief among those ambitions is to take his masters place on the dark council. While Kollvein lacks much in the way of physical prowess, his other abilities make him quite formidable. He is a master of sith alchemy and dark side rituals. He has a vast knowledge of both sith artifacts and those of other civilizations both current and forgotten. It is with this knowledge that he hopes to gain an advantage over Darth Marr in the near future.

The Republic Storyline:

The Republic story arc Has the players going to Kashyyyk to aid in diplomatic operations and to find a missing team of delegates that were originally sent to handle negotiations. While Kashyyyk is or is at least willing to become a Republic world, it is not in Republic space. This has caused a problem for Kashyyyk in establishing trade routes, and has made it difficult for the Republic in terms of supplying aid for the planet and recruiting the Wookies for the Republic Corp of Engineers. To aid in negotiations, The Republic Senate has sent a team of combat trained diplomats along with a small group of Jedi to discuss trade routes and any aid that the planet may need. Recently the Senate has lost contact with the delegation. In the cases of the trooper and smuggler classes the Chancellor has asked them to discover the fate of the senate team and assist in the trade negotiations if possible. The two Jedi classes are asked to search for the missing Jedi as the war with the Empire has already strained the orders numbers to a near breaking point.

All republic players are asked to start their investigation by talking to the leader of the Capital City. Upon arrival they are tasked with dealing with a number of deadly predators that have made their way from the lower levels into the canopy level of the city. When they deal with the animals they find a fallen trandoshan hunter with a communicator linked to a nearby slaving operation. The communication mentions them tracking the missing delegation. The player will head to the next lowest level to find the trandoshan slaving operation that was tracking the delegation.

When they arrive they will find a number of wookies that were in need of rescue as well as the Jedi padawan Camillus Devota. Camillus will explain that the Jedi detected a strong force presence in the lower levels and were going to investigate. They sent him back towards the city as they felt that he would not be able to help in dealing with the problem.

The players return to the city to report on the situation and are asked by the republic and the Jedi to deal with the more immediate problem of the trandoshan slave camps in the area. They assume that the delegation is already dead and that you are more likely to find corpses than survivors. In regards to the slave camps they give the player the decision on how to deal with the remaining camps. The options are to either burn the camps in a surprise attack to ensure that all the slavers are dealt with or to attack using less force and attempt to take prisoners and possibly save any woolies that are still being held there.

When the decision is made the player carries out the operation and then heads to the location of the lost senate delegation in the depths of the shadowlands. The player finds that a good deal of the delegation is alive still but are being held as sacrifices for the rakatan warlord that had been trapped in a mind prison. The warlord’s spirit is free at this point and has inhabited the Jedi master Soren. The warlord plans to use his freedom to rebuild his empire by reactivating super weapons that he had hid throughout the galaxy before his imprisonment. Camillus explains that if the spirit is weakened, that he might be able to use his force abilities to separate the warlord from his master. The consular class is not able to do it as the technique requires a strong bond between the two people such as the one Camillus has with his mentor.

Once the boss is beaten, Camillus finishes the ritual and severs the warlords force spirit from his master. Due to his lack of training however he also severs his masters’ connection with the Force. The loss of this connection drives the Jedi master to the brink of insanity. He begs his student to undo what he has done and asks to be left to die. The player returns to the city with the delegation and the Jedi master in tow and explain the situation. The Jedi promise to ensure that Master Soren receives the treatment he needs to regain his sanity. In the meantime the Jedi padawan asks if he can accompany the player on his ship in an effort to gain the understanding of the galaxy and himself and to decide if being a Jedi is truly what he wants.

With this story the players gain a new healer that is capable of force heals similar to a sage. The story also leaves an open ending in terms of what planet they may visit next. The easiest connections can be made to future content by having the Jedi Master remember locations that he learned of during his time connected to the warlord.

The Imperial Storyline:

The Imperial story is in part a continuation of the concept of Makeb as well as the beginning of a new arc. In a continuing effort to regain lost footing, the Empire has been funding a trandoshan slaving operation in an effort to gain a number of wookie slaves to work on rebuilding the fleet that was lost over Ilum. This group of slavers has reported they have found something that may be of use to the Empire but in order to retrieve it the Empire must help them deal with a number of situations that are causing them trouble.

Darth Marr asks the player to deal with the situation and recover the artifact if at all possible. He also mentions that he will be sending one of his apprentices that are proficient in their knowledge of artifacts of both the empire and beyond. When the players arrive at the slaving camp they are asked to deal with the first major issue they have come across, the Republic. The player is tasked with destroying a republic scouting outpost in the nearby area. With that accomplished the trandoshans can operate more freely in the area and can keep the Empires involvement a secret.

The second task is to deal with a rival operation in the area. This rival is remnants of a group formed by the hutts and have caused the trandoshans problems by attracting unwanted attention to the area. While the player is destroying the base camp they find a holo recording of the lost artifact.

Upon returning to the camp the players meet Lord Kollvein who explains that he is the apprentice sent by Darth Marr and is curious about the device. When the player shows him the holo recording, Lord Kollvein explains that the object is a rakatan star map similar to the one found by Revan. It isn’t the same one as that was more or less beneath the capital city and was inactive. This star map can still be useful but it requires certain items to be used in a force ritual to activate.

Lord Kollvein knows the ritual but needs the player to collect the needed ingredients for the Ritual. In the meantime the trandoshans also need the player to deal with an extremely strong wookie that prevents access to the shadowlands where the star map is located.

When the wookie is beaten the player has the option to both give him the death of a warrior and grant his final wish or to allow the trandoshans to enslave him and send him to the empires work facilities. After the player gathers the needed materials they can return to Lord Kollvein who will accompany them to the star map and complete the ritual.

The Ritual drives the trandoshan escort to madness and they attack the player and Lord Kollvein. After the sequence is complete the star map shows the map briefly and then explodes. With the star map destroyed the player returns to the base camp.

Lord Kollvein explains that he was able to memorize the map and wishes to accompany the player to obtain whatever sources of power are located at the marked points. He explains that he sees this as his opportunity to surpass his master in power and he needs the players help to do it. He then reminds them that they really don’t have much of a choice but to agree to the proposal since he was the only one who knows the locations on the map.

In similar fashion this storyline is meant to give Imperial players a new healing companion that is force capable similar to the sorcerer class.

The story is also left open in a way that leaves a number of possibilities for continuation. The easiest start for a new planet would be for the new companion to reveal a location on the map that needs to be followed.

Excellent ideas!

However, I'm not sure how I feel about the expansion title: Other than that, VERY well done!

But, um, you're forgetting something! The operation in the end!

If you wouldn't mind... Would you be offended if I wrote up an idea for the operation for you to use? My head is filled with 'em (It's a blessing and a curse).

I don't mind if you want to have a go at writing something to attach to the idea. I just worked this as a starting concept. I would say try to keep to the lore as much as you can. Definitely research the Rakata before you write things out. As for the title just consider it a working title like Blue Harvest. I understand the feeling of having plenty of ideas on what you would like to see. I'm the same way about games in general. I keep a ever growing file of new ideas and concepts for a multitude of games (some that have been done and some that are my own individual creations)
