Kavu
ok i'm confused about orange, moddable gear, ie is a moddable peice viable through all levels by just updating the mods on it, or is there base stats one them that never change? ie. weapons base damage, armor base armor rating. Seifz
Orange gear is entirely viable (indeed, the best you can get) until you obtain purple gear from operations. The most important mods (barrels, hilts, armoring) in operations gear can't be removed and they're better than the mods that you can slot into orange gear. That said, you can't make a lightsaber into a blaster and you can't turn light armor into heavy armor. The item retains its type no matter what mods you slot into it. astronaute
Yes basically it is usable from level 1 to level 49, then everybody will be clones of each other. Sad but true...
Gorgewall
Weapon base damage is tied to the rating of the Barrel mod, and armor's armor stat is tied to the rating of the Armoring mod installed.

Gorgewall
What he's saying is that the Operation gear can't have its mods removed, so you can't put it in armor that has appearances you like. If you want the best stats, you have to wear the best armor--armor that already has its appearance chosen for you.
Kavu
man, wish i had asked this question before i traded my esseles chest peice for this ugly nar shaddaa thing. Kibaken
Mods/Enhancements can be removed, however the hilts/barrels/armoring cannot. That's what makes up the damage/armor count of items. They NEED to introduce a fix for this or the mod system is a complete waste of their resources.
