Reduce particle density in maps?

One thing that I have noticed is that if you're on a less-than-optimal machine (such as mine), even with graphics lowered to minimum, a couple of the maps in GSF create to much graphic lag and make the maps nigh unplayable. The asteroid map, in particular, makes for some very difficult game play when all the enemies are warping and rubber banding like crazy...and the 11fps doesn't help, either.
