McNealy
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UM2CKNFArkg Check it out! This is what I filmed today, lol... It's just test footage for the project, but I think it's still awesome enough to share. I just went around campus at school, mainly to get ideas for shooting locations, get a chance to play with the camera, and play around with adding in the sound effects when finished. THIS IS A VERY ROUGH PRESENTATION! No tripod yet, and I haven't quite figured out the focusing issue, but still... enjoy, everybody!
hyperconduit
There are better saber effects out there, if you don't mind spending a little time rotoscoping. Check out http://www.videocopilot.com, Andrew Kramer has a great tutorial and preset for saber effects. Edited March 10, 2012 by Paralassa
Sendai_S
Yeah, I highly recommend using custoim built sabers with dowels in them (with a duplicate hilt without a dowel for the on off effects...) After Effects is perfect for recreating the lightsaber effects from the films. I've worked on the SFX field as a freelancer and it's quite easy, just a bit time consuming. But it will look a lot better.
