JC 3.0 PVE Progression Thread - 8/16man HM Ravagers & ToS

Welcome to the Jedi Covenant 3.0 PVE Progression for HM Ravagers & Temple of Sacrifice!

It was brought to me that some guilds on JC wanted a tracker of progression for their raid groups. I know it is already after 3.0 has started, and I realize there has been an exploit with the last boss of Ravagers (will touch base on the topic a bit later in tracking), but with a partnership of Torcommunity.com and the help with Gilgamesh and Hayward, we'll be updating and tracking progression teams on the official forums (the ones you're reading now) and http://torcommunity.com/database/guild-progression/us.

RULES:

This thread will only record the first 10 guilds and first 10 operation teams to get the kill per each HM boss (once NiM drops, I'll start a new thread at that time).

  • ONLY active JC guilds/players are allowed to participate (If you're on a different server and want to start a progression thread/forum on TorComm please contact Hayward)
  • No Trolling or Harassing people. Keep it Civil!
  • 8man or 16man HM kills only. (Exploiting or bugging out a boss for a kill doesn't count!)
  • Must follow the appropriate posting of your kill shots/verification (see below)

Verification

There are several elements that are need to verify a kill and the kill time, all are required to be placed on the TOP 10. Because this thread is late in starting, any boss kills before 1/18/2015 (with the exception of 8m/16m HM Coratanni) I will accept the HM achievement screenshot from your achievements page and the requested information, however, a boss kill shot or video proof is preferred. To qualify 8m/16m HM Coratanni, before the patch fix on 1/13/2015, for a progression kill the guild or operation group must link a video confirmation (it's pretty much the only way to verify a kill and not the glitched work around)

Anything after 1/18/2015 you will need:

  1. Screenshots for proof of kills have to be in the instance shortly after the boss dies, and all 8/16 need to try to be seen in the screenshot with guild tags (make sure your nameplates are ON for guild progression top 10).
  2. It must have proof of difficulty mode (achievement pop up or right click portrait and show the operation phase).
  3. All screenshots must be unedited with the game clock and UTC clearly shown and posted in EST.
  4. Boss corpse or loot from the container clearly visible

EXAMPLE OF THE PERFECT KILL SCREENSHOT - http://i.imgur.com/BduXcNj.jpg?1 **Borrowed from Qhaos of Nemesis for it's uberness Thanks!! :D**

[EDIT: 1/23/2015 12:00PM]

Although videos of the kill are nice and great for recruiting, there's no way to verify UTC Time Vs game time for time zone tracking purposes. One may still supply a video of the kill, however, please include the kill screen shot like the example above.

How to take a Timestamp Verification Screenshot:

  1. Ensure the game client is in Fullscreen (Windowed) mode. This can be set in the Preferences/Graphics menu
  2. Click the UTC Clock link here and set the browser window to a size of your preference.
  3. Drag UTC time-stamp window over the SWTOR Client window and position it appropriately.
  4. On your keyboard, hit CTRL+Print Screen to capture your entire Desktop to your clipboard.
  5. In MS Paint or other editing program, paste the contents of the clipboard (the captured image). Save the image.
  6. Alternatively, you can use screen capturing software.

Elements to include in your submission:

  • Guild Name/Operation Group name (If not a full guild group)
  • Achievement
  • Achievement Time
  • Current UTC Time
  • Current Computer or Game Time
  • Faction

If there's questions about verification see the example screenshot linked above.

Failure to meet the verification, elements, and screenshot requirements could be considered disqualified and you will be asked to resubmit.

Thread will be updated at least every Monday/Tuesday or as needed depending on number of submissions.

With that being said, good luck and have fun!

Thanks for taking the initiative to manage a thread like this. Guess I can post some stuff when I get home

Couple thoughts:

Is this even progression after the Ravagers glitch and it only being HM?

I think only keeping the top 5 clears for each would reduce clutter and keep it more concise. Not gonna lie, the 2.8 thread only had about 5 teams clearing and posting their kills at all by the end of it.

Also, the Pug rule seems pretty harsh for guilds that have a high turnover on their raiding team. Maybe as long as at least 6 of 8 have the same guild tag would be an easier way to monitor this while not penalizing teams that don't necessarily raid with the same group every week, but do keep drawing players from their own guild.

Yeah, I agree thanks for taking the lead on this one. As the one who did the 2.8 Thread for NiM progression it was a pain at times, but fun to watch everyone who participated make the progression.

Also, just a word of suggestion from someone who has done this before, you'll prob have lots of people telling you how and what you should do in your management and rules for posting. But, in the end its your progression tracker do it the way you want. If those people don't like how you run your thread or have stated your rules. Let them go start their own. (That's the only annoying part of this job I found, the rest was fun) Good Luck!!!

This was something that was asked of me, and not something I've done before. So, the requirements and rules listed were agreed upon by those individuals to try to keep it as fair as possible for consistent raiding teams.

The people who I've spoken with about this thread wanted a progression thread even for HM content. Depending on what happens I may do a NiM thread once it drops, or you're welcome to start one at that time yourself, if you'd like. :D

Considering I'm not tracking Coratanni kills before the fix unless there is video verification I don't think it should be an issue. Any guild or raid group that can down Coratanni, I'm sure would be more than happy to provide proof of kill before said patch.

Thanks for your input, it's appreciated!!! Hope to see some Nemesis posts soon!

Considering I'm not tracking Coratanni kills before the fix

There weren't any on JC. The point he's trying to make has nothing to do with that actual boss fight. It's the fact that everyone who cheesed has way better gear for ALL of the fights that they are working on. Part of the whole progression thing is getting better gear week to week while working on the fights. If your tanks stroll into Bulo with an extra 5k health (among other things) it can be the difference between a wipe or a first time clear.

Also the PUG rule from within your own guild seems a little harsh. If Ferid's old thread had that rule then Nemesis' Council kill wouldn't have counted. We were missing 3 people from our original Bestia kill from June, but everyone from that kill and everyone on our Council kill was in our guild..

Not that anyone cares but since i have run a similar thread for like 2 years here is my 2 cents...

Is this even progression after the Ravagers glitch and it only being HM?

Also, the Pug rule seems pretty harsh for guilds that have a high turnover on their raiding team. Maybe as long as at least 6 of 8 have the same guild tag would be an easier way to monitor this while not penalizing teams that don't necessarily raid with the same group every week, but do keep drawing players from their own guild.

Yes it is still progression. The idea of progression in any MMO is progress on the current highest tier of raid which in this case is HM Rav/ToS. I have no idea why people would try and restrict progression to Nim especially since its not even out yet. The Ravagers glitch should have no bearing on verification because of the rules that are in place.

As far as the Pug rule goes I believe this was an idea to protect against any pug group posting and at the same time a compromise intended to give both guild runs and long term raid groups that are made up of more than 1 guild (mergers) and such an opportunity to participate. Both types of groups suffer because of a low population of potential serious raiders. Larger guilds may be able to counter by pulling subs from within guild while smaller guilds or groups that do not require guild membership do not have the same luxury. Therefore asking for a 6 person core is in my opinion not unreasonable and allows the most accessibility for all groups currently in progression without favoring or penalizing either too much.

Actually I think that IS the point he was trying to make. However your point has some merit. While I do agree that it may be slightly easier with gear gained from exploiting I don't think it detracts from progression very much. Yes gear does factor in to progression. However the much larger part of progression is teamwork and learning and overcoming mechanics. Even in full 198's you are not going to stroll in and roll over these fights and ignore the mechanics. Also no tanks are rolling in with an extra 5k health unless they are in comms gear :p. Even if that was the case you still wouldn't roll over the fights. Maybe 2-3 tiers from now the fights will be laughable in that gear but not now.

Idk why everyone thinks the Pug rule is so harsh but there are a couple of things to keep in mind. First, the rule was agreed upon by the members of the community that asked Sera to set this up. As a matter of fact this wasn't something she set out to do but members of the community asked her about it and she agreed to try and get something going. Second, this rule WAS in place on the old progression thread so its not something they just made up. If you want to you can verify that here: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=748094 look at 4. Kills with more than 2 PUGs from your normal raid team WONT count.

The bottom line is if you don't like the way progression is being tracked then you have 2 options: 1. Don't participate. 2. Start your own thread.

However please show appreciation for the person taking the time to set it up and track progression. As anyone that has tracked anything on the forums can tell you it takes a lot of time and effort and it often goes unappreciated.

I've included these below for those that failed to read or missed them. They pretty much cover anything that I didn't...

Hope to see some Nemesis posts soon!

the rule was agreed upon by the members of the community that asked Sera to set this up

Who are these mysterious members of the community? Why are they so quiet and shrouded in secrecy?

For real tho, I don't think anyone is bashing Sera for doing this. We're discussing it. The rule from Ferid's thread applied to your "normal raid group". The "Sparky Rule" as we'll call it states that if you're missing more than two people from your first kill then every other kill is invalid. Normal raid groups change over time.

PS- Yuuzhan I found a picture of you http://i0.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/newsfeed/000/452/280/50c.jpg

It's actually not shrouded in secrecy and was stated in the introduction post. :p I searched other server progression threads and pulled bits from a few that I thought were valid points and considerations. I went over the points I included and even asked for any changes or if they were not what they originally wanted for the thread. Both Hayward and Gilgamesh said it looked great and didn't feel anything needed changed.

I get that raid groups change, as you know I've had issues with consistency of raid groups in my own guild, but a majority of the time, more than two people aren't going to change from the original core progression group.

If you're having to pull other guildies in that often then it doesn't qualify as "normal."

It's a double-edged sword, I'm sorry that you feel that requirement is too harsh.

I've already discussed this with Gilgamesh about the kill screenshot. I can't accept the verification since it doesn't meet the requirements being in the same screenshot for after 1/18/2015.

tl;dr must be your favorite thing. I am seriously starting to doubt your literacy since you don't ever read anything or at least not in its entirety. :p I never said anyone was bashing Sera and apologize if it came off as so. As i stated I was just adding my 2 cents to the "discussion". Wait....who are we kidding you can't discuss things on the forums. Forums are for PvP and flamewars what is wrong with you? :p

Anyway I think the point of contention is how exactly you define a "normal raid group" since everyone defines that differently. I agree with your statement that normal groups change over time and therefore some flexibility should be allowed. However you obviously have to have some definition of what quantifies a normal raid group if only just to exclude pug groups. So the problem is where do you draw the line? Imho I think Sera is wise enough to be trusted with determining if a group qualifies within reason or not but that is just me. Some ppl would rather have a clearly defined set of rules established.

P.S. Nice pic. Now you leave me and my powerglove, nes wizard staff, and nes controller.....necklace? OUT OF THIS!!!!!!

Also, stop sending me pics. I told you I don't swing that way fatty. http://imgur.com/LLLYkWA
