As far as im concerned I think those 'stormtrooper' are a bit 'cartoon' and 'stubborn' and the characters are quite wiped out and just a few 'old' characters are left in the movie. Sangetorix Posted July 6, 2015 Share Posted July 6, 2015 I believe that what so far has been called "Jedi Killers," which are believed by a lot of people to be the Inquisitors are actually Mandalorians, and in this movie they're coming in force. SlickCorrog Posted July 8, 2015 Share Posted July 8, 2015 Here's my best guess. Take it or leave it, it matters little to me. After the battle of Endor, the Rebellion went on a winning streak. They took many worlds, inciting Rebellion on others. And then they took Coruscant. At this point, the Empire retreated and regrouped in the outer-rim, securing their holdings in several systems surrounding a stronghold. Jakku is one of these planets. Another is Dromund Kaas. Several years later, Luke tried to create a Jedi Academy, to further his former masters' wishes. One of his apprentices goes dark, though, due to a calling he receives through the Force. Luke can't explain the calling, and goes on mission to discover the source. At first, Luke stays in contact very consistently, but over time he checks in less and less. During the time he's gone, the Rebellion begins governing the majority of the galaxy while still waging war against the Imperial Remnant. Han and Leia were married, and had an unspecified number of children. Leia gave up politics after a while, and Han gave up the military. Then, Leia feels Luke call out in the Force, very similar to what she felt on Bespin. Luke seems desperate, and so she and Han set out to rescue him. Not long after that, the Empire is resurgent under a new force-wielding front man: Kylo Ren. No one knows his true identity, but he openly professes that he is the apprentice, not the master. The Empire, calling themselves the First Order now, retake Coruscant, throwing the galaxy into upheaval. Most systems decide to rule themselves, rather than follow the unpredictable politics of Coruscant. The Rebellion/New Republic becomes the Resistance, a group dedicated to resisting the overwhelming new Empire. Episode VII starts here. Kylo Ren is distracted from Galactic conquest by an urgent mission from his master. Leia and Han find evidence suggesting Luke died, including his machine hand severed and clutching his lightsaber. Leia begins training as a Jedi, preparing herself with the remnants of Luke's academy to face Luke's killer. Han sets out in search of the Falcon, which he lost in a battle above Jakku when the First Order emerged. Unbeknownst to them all, Luke survived his lost hand and lightsaber. He and R2 are living in hiding from his old apprentice, Kylo Ren, who now wields ancient Sith power even the Emperor had no access to. There is no way off world, and Luke cannot use the Force without drawing attention to himself. Meanwhile, Han and Chewie find the Falcon, along with a former apprentice of Luke's and an Imperial defector. Together, they break free of the First Order and make for the Resistance Headquarters. There, they call Leia and she brings the Jedi as well. The movie culminates in a showdown on Dromund Kaas, where Resistance spies have learned Kylo Ren is headed. Han and Chewie lead a strike against the Order in orbit, while Leia leads the Jedi and some commandos on the surface. Kylo Ren engages them, with some assistance from a squad of First Order Stormtroopers under the command of Captain Phasma. The battle is a rout on the ground. Leia and her Jedi are defeated. Sensing her heritage, Kylo Ren offers to train Leia in the dark side. She resists, and is killed. Luke can't control himself when sensing this, and the remaining Jedi and Kylo Ren know he's alive. Fortunately, Han and Chewie defeat the First Order in orbit, blockading the planet. Kylo Ren is trapped, and Luke's former apprentice feels him in the Force, allowing her to guide Han to his location. The movie ends with Han in a very dark place and Luke recovering and planning, then switching to Kylo Ren stumbling (due to a battle injury) through the forests of Dromund Kaas until he arrives at his destination: the Dark Temple.
