hkdio
Hi guys. Am not too savvy on Pc tech specs, can anyone advise me on the following:- I can run TOR, though it gets jerky and choppy in a lot of areas, has problems drawing images etc. Its playable, but could be better. All the settings are turned to low or off, i cant reduce things anymore. So I need to upgrade my pc currently running Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+ (2 CPUs), ~2.2GHz Memory: 2048MB RAM Available OS Memory: 2048MB RAM Card name: NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT Chip type: GeForce 8500 GT DAC type: Integrated RAMDAC Display Memory: 1267 MB Dedicated Memory: 499 MB Shared Memory: 767 MB what do i need to get to upgrade this pc to play TOR better than it runs now, on a budget of around £300? do i just need ram and a new graphic card, or do i need the works? I got someone who can put it together for me when i get the bits, but am just so confused as to what bits i need. Appreciate any help you can offer! Jordgubben
Two more gigs of ram and a decent gfx would probably be enough, The game runs great on my ATI 6950.
Adwynyth
1) http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.823390 2) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231277 3) http://www.newegg.com/Shopping/ShoppingItem.aspx?ItemList=N82E16814102948 That gives you a bit of wiggle room for exchange rates. Doesn't matter where you buy the stuff, either, or whether you substitute different parts of equivalent specs. This should run pretty well for you. If you can afford higher-end (Core i5 instead of i3, or newer Core i3, such as the 2000 series), so much the better. What I didn't include is a copy of Windows 7, because I don't know if you need one or if you will be reusing your existing copy. If you need one, it would be about $100 over here (not sure about UK). As always, opinions vary and this information is worth every penny you paid for it. Edited February 26, 2012 by Adwynyth
Seifz
I'd say that your processor is as much to blame as anything else in that rig. Intel i5-i7 is your best bet.

I dunno...I'd say the video's pretty weak, too. It generally needs a lift in all the big specs.
FLScuddie
get 8 gigs of ram. I played on 4g with a 2.4c2d, and 8800gtx.. adding 4 more gigs of ram made a ginormous difference.
